The rain and juicyness seems to finally be beyond SB. While the streets are damp they are drying...

The S2 is ready to rock with new rubber on ol' denty.

I need to be rolling by 7:30 sharp if I'm gonna get it done.

If'n y'all are gonna cancel ya' need to let me know. ;)

Ferris, we've just had a cold front pass through. The pilots among us will tell you cold fronts are typically followed by cooler air (duh), clearing skies and high winds. That's how the game is played. I didn't make the rules.

Let me know, boys. L8R.

Ferris/JIm,

Right now could go either way. Hate to wait til early tomorrow but right now, it looks like it could dry out but I ain't no weatherman (though if this front moves on out we should be OK)

Call me at 5:30-6:00 I will be awake at 5

Right now, we are still drizzly here in the flatland in Palmdale. There is real rain in the hills (just came back from Glendale at 7:30) Forecast says chances of showers tomorrow so the best thing is to check it first thing in the morning. I think it is too close to call right now tonight.

Give me a jingle in the morning and by 5:30 I will have looked out the window and gotten local weather reports.

Hope to see you in Tehachapi tomorrow!

Home phone: 661-722-2416 If I don't pick right up, page me - I'm nearby - 877-744-0695

Jim,
I'll call you in the AM before 7:00 and let you know if I'm going or not.

I just came in from the garage after going over my bike (8:00pm). It's still drizzling pretty steady with short periods of heavier stuff.

If it's dry in the AM I'm riding and hoping it doesn't start dumping again.

Hope to see you all at Harley's at 9:30 or up in Tehachapi at 8

(but we'll be in touch early AM just in case)

well, it was quiet and dry here at the Lake all night. the sky is clear, filled with stars, as a near-full moon gets cozy with the western horizon.

it's 35 degrees, considerably warmer than i expected it'd be this morning, altho i don't imagine it takes much of an elevation gain (we're at about 2700 ft.) to dip into the 20's.

the radar pic looks good, altho there's a string of rain currently sweeping thru the Bay Area, and it looks like the southern tip of this could be a factor for us sometime later today.

the bulk of what hammered us yesterday (from Weather.com: Downtown Los Angeles reported 3.34" of rain in a 24 hour period smashing the daily record of 2.03" set in 1952) looks to be currently centered over Las Vegas.

the long and short of it is...........LET'S RIDE!!!

Ferris, Jim, Tim

It is a GO

Call me if you want to - otherwise I will be at the Chevron in Tehachapi as planned and we'll have breakfast at Harley's.

The ground is still wet but the rain stopped last night around 10.

I am going to get my morning cup of coffee and then go get the bike started.

LET'S RIDE!!!

5:55am,
It's still raining here in Lakewood. Dang.

If you punch in my zip code 90712 on weather.com I'm located just below the "g" in "Los Angeles". From that radar shot it looks like I'm barely in the tail of the rain. Everything else is to the East and North of me, moving East.

I don't need to leave for another hour and a half, so, I put on a pot of coffee and I'll watch and see.

Weather.com is cool,
I never really checked it out before (hey I live in SoCal,never much reason).

Anyway if you zoom in on the radar to the 300mi Doppler radar shot, and then set the map in motion, it looks like this wet stuff might be past me by the time I need to leave.

From the 300mi map I'm located very near Long Beach, 90712, not that anyone really cares, it's just that I think that's pretty cool we have stuff like that.

Hi Timbo, Yep. The Internet has changed the way many of us get weather info. Rather than spending a bunch of time watching the Weather Channel waiting for stuff in our neighborhood to pop up, we just go to their web site and get what we need. :)

The pilots among us will tell you the Doppler radar can be an invaluable tool when making pre-flight go/no go decisions. It has helped me personally very much. No one wants to fly right into a squall line.

Meanwhile, looks like you're going to be the last one to get clear of the weather. Looks like if you head a teeny bit West you're in the clear.

How hard is it coming down?

All,

Thanks for a good ride but as wet as I got on my short ride home, I hope you all weren't drenched! I actually picked up a hint of hail for a couple minutes.

See you next weekend or next ride after that.

Howdy,

What a day. It was nice to see so many folks show up for breakfast at Harley's.

After hearing about Ferris and Steve and some of their excellent adventures I had visions of being left in the dust. And I was! Literally. The rains left just enough muck on the roads to enable The Thong's rear tire to throw a steady stream of dust and debris onto me! Note to self: Move to the front of the line next time. ;)

The races were pretty cool. I wish I could have stayed longer. Fun to watch. Those guys can really ride their bikes. Binoculars would have been useful.

At Willow we had an S1, S2, S3, XB9S a Blast and Ed's Beemer. Nice collection.

On the way home the skies darkened a bunch as I went West on the 138. By the time I reached the I-5 it was raining. Then it started coming down hard. And the road was jammed up somewhat due to an accident. Got by all that (still raining a bunch) when it turned to hail. Sheesh. I was thinking "What's next? Lightning?" Yep. Started getting that too. I guess that can happen when you ride a Thunderbolt... Thankfully my gear held up to Mother Nature's onslaught...

By the time I got to Castaic I was out of it (just barely). Gassed up, tried to call Timbo to warn you guys. When I finally reached Ventura I found the high winds Ferris had been missing. They weren't lost. They were just waiting for me.

Thanks for helping me scrub in the new Bridgestone's. Mucho fun.

Hey guys,
Great ride today. The track was fun as usual. I trust everyone made it home safe.

Jim, when you called me (3:15 according to my phone), Ed and I were already on our way home. MAN, we got dumped on. Heavy rain until Hwy 14 crests the pass and then it was bright sunshine almost the whole way home. Heck, I was almost dry when I got home.

Nice meeting'n'riding with a couple new friends Ferris and Steve, and some familiar ones Ed, James and Jim, as well as seeing Candice, Saro and Loli at Harley's for breakfast.

Not bad for a day we weren't sure was going to happen.
