The burger wasn't very good (frozen packaged patty), but the steak-and-ale pie and the beef roast with stuffing dumplings (special of the day) were good (and huge).

Had fish and chips in a 17th century pub near Chalk Farm/Camden Market. Mariabelen thought it was ok. I thought it was a step below Long John Silver's.

Blake made the same mistake I did - "H"STA must be mostly Hondas. I think the first couple "events" there weren't any Hondas.

What's a 325i?

Anyone know a dealer that is participating?

I know a pseudo-SlABer who's getting a souped-up S2 this weekend...

John,
MOB??? What about us flatlanders?? :( We can't admit to being Missourians! Its just the whole MO vs. IL collegiate rivalry thing! especially with march madness around the corner! :)

Is it just me or has WSBK turned into the Ducati Vs. Ducati superbike races???? Watched the races last sunday and the mass exodus to MotoGP was extremely evident.

Keith...What, you hadn't heard of the "Ducati Cup"
???...I really wouldn't mind if all the factories focused their attention of MotoGP and left World and AMA Superbike to the privateers...We just need to get a GP here real quick...I had heard the Barber track mentioned and I just heard of another but can't remember the track...

See Ya!

Bob,
I had heard all about it, I guess it just hadn't sunk in until I watched the first two races of the season. Now, I really don't see a whole lot of reason to watch the remaining WSBK races this year. AMA and MotoGP look to be extremely interesting though! :)

Joining the MOB. Good Idea! Both areas are the same 5 people so join together and make 10. I'll drop in occasionally and be the odd man out.

A meeting in Hermann might get some old Kansas boys to return. How 'bout it Court.

It was a good thing I took the front jug off too. I found 2 pieces of this sitting on top of the front piston and there was 1 piece still on top of this in the rear. Parts are parts.
Broken rear Wiseco piston

You can tell the rest of the story.

Hey Josh:

What kind of "Soup" are you talking about??
Pseduo huh? May not have been "ab" in SLAB for too long, but the "SL" has too many years
Off to Ebay for more shopping.

It was the best of times...It was the worst of times...

The Best of Times...We had ridden the previous day to end at Newland NC after stopping to see my ex bro-in-law...We started early the next morning with our goal being to reach John's mother's farm in NE KY...Along the way John just had to ride to the top of Roan Mt State Park to see the pretty pink flowers...You know how he just loves to ride in anyplace that has "Park" in the name...Then up to Bristol TN where we picked up the slab heading north...Rapidly tiring of the slab we, by happenstance, pulled of at Marion VA...Probably it was that sign on the slab directing us to the "Hungry Mother State Park" (Sadam slept there)...Hungry Mother is off of VA 16 and just after you pass the park the road goes bizerk...It's kinda like the Gap, only faster...We're both fully loaded and pretty soon we're both going pretty damn fast...Scrapin' pegs fast...I'm tail end Charley just looking through John and having a ball listening to him...Of course, I'm on the four week old "electric" Das Boat...As in "Is it running yet?"...We go up and down and around and around and come around a right turner and there at the outside apex of the next righty are about six bikes gathered with the riders having a chat so John pulls over...I was very disappointed at this action as I am so introverted and shy...They were all pretty much amazed with the "beast" as they had been listening to this V-twin roar for quite a while coming at them and wondering who the hell was thrashing a harley in the mountains...By the time we left there were probably about 20 or so riders gathered...Seemed we had stumbled upon one of the best sport bike roads in the east...Remember, this was before "Extreme Twisties" had been published...After leaving we rode on some more spectacular mtn road and then down into this valley that looked like it was a painted pastoral scene...Farm houses, barns, cattle and sheep and horses and GREEN!... I distinctly remember the GREEN!...It smelled GREEN!...Hell, it shouted...And to stay with the green theme the next town was called Frog Level and they had a yacht club where we very kindly bought a few tee's and the members bought us a beer...Ok, Ok, for John a Coke...We really couldn't tarry as we had miles to go and people to see...On into to bowels of West (By God!)...VA 16 becomes WV 16 and then near Welch US 52 would carry us up to Louisa KY which is where John's mother's farm is...Now in West By God they have some funny names for their towns...Names like War and Kermit, Squire and Canebrake...Mostly the names of defunct coal mines...These were the company towns and the towns where the coal wars took place in the twenties...In Matewan you can still see the bullet strikes on the brick walls downtown where the miners shot down from the hills across the railroad tracks...You also ride through the town where the "Rocket Boys" are from, Coalwood...

The Worst of Times...Hell, I don't remember the name of the very forgettable cross roads where we stopped for gas but it was down in a holler...All the roads in that part of the state are down in the hollers...The sun shines about six hour every day as it passes from mountain to holler to the next mountain...We look up and there are these big black sheep looking things just rolling over the mountain tops, and fast...John just starts unloading his rain gear and putting it on and I'm buttoning up the 'Stich and battening down the hatches...By now it's pitch black...Can I say it was dark as coal...It's damn near raining UP!...And John has a fog city only on his dark shield...I switch on the PIAA's, John falls in behind and he's told me many times since that the only thing he saw all night long was my tail light...I remember one time I almost called an end to it and drove into the nearest culvert for cover upon hearing this huge roaring noise that I was positive was a tornado...It turned out that on our right side and elevated just above us were train tracks and the sound was a coal train rushing down the mountain...After weeks of riding in these awful conditions we finally arrived at John's mother's house about one in the morning...They were glad to see us but they had no idea just how glad we were to see them...

And that is "The rest of the story!"

See Ya!

Bob

Bob, Bob,
You didnt forget about the tittie joint we passed out in the middle of nowhere. Remember, I warned you that we should not stop there as "outsiders" were probably not welcomed. And the gas station/store near Jenny Wiley state park where we just had to get out of the rain for at least a few minutes. And how the girls there kept asking us "where yuall from" and couldnt believe we were crazy enough to be out in "this kind of weather". And the cop in Fort Gay WV. who made a U turn just to follow us for a while before we made our way across the Big Sandy into Ky and safety.

You know, I still think of that valley in Tazwell County Va. I want to go back soon to explore the area.
Rt 16 is something else. Crank it up hard in 3rd gear for a little ways then brake hard and down to 1st gear to make a 180. It went of for miles and miles.

If anyone is cruising the EastSide in the next week or so, Kay-Be-Toys in Fairview Heights (St Clair Square Mall) has HotWheels 1/10 scale Ducati 996SPS models on clearance from $25 to $10. I bought 3 today, already spoken for by NeilS, Mark, and Kevyn.
Great deal at $25 for as detailed as these are, a real steal at $10.
See pics here of someone else selling one on eBay.

I don't know when I'll be back over there but Bob - Mike and Amy (I think) live near if you want to sweet talk them.
