LIKE NOT PASSING OTHERS IN THE SAME LANE!!!

Bart, ya forgot to add and not on the right side!

Is that like a NM thing? Cuz, I had never had that happen until I moved here. It just freaks me out, when people do that.

Ya know. I'll start workin' on that beard, but I may have some trouble with it.

Passing on the left OR right, either way, that dude isn't welcome on any rides I lead, anymore.

So it would seem the Enchanted Circle is too cold still, so the Jemez again this weekend?
What about Tres Piedres/Tierra Amarilla? Isn't that a decent road?
What's the elevation along that road?

LOL...you are near a Air Force base pass on the left-right doesnt matter overseas. You are expected to keep moving and stay out of other bikers and 4 wheelers way in Europe. There you are expected to move over even on single lanes to let car, trucks or other bikes pass.

Hmmm, last time I checked, New Mexico was still a part of the USA. Here we drive on the right side and pass on the left.
After 22 years in the service, I never had a problem remembering where I was, and what laws I needed to obey.

HEY!! I represent that remark!! And that other guy can kiss my ass. My suit is way better than his suit. And I'm not posing in my kitchen for it either. I was ON A RIDE when I wore my suit.

Kim is right, though. I chased down this guy on a 9R past Jemez Springs. He acted like he didn't want to get pulled over. I guess he thought I wanted to beat him up or something!

Anyway, I'll email him this week about Sunday's ride. Bart - When are you going to email me that stuff? My email is cjrodden at gmail dot com.

CJ,
I'm still out in Arizona right now, will be back in town Friday night. I'll look up that spreadsheet, it's on my desktop, and email it to you.
So, are we changing this weekends ride to the Jemez? Or are we leaving it HWY 14?

I'm not sure. It's Easter and I may be more family bound than able to ride. I'll let you know.

Not sure, still kicking it around. The schedule calls for the Jemez.
Perhaps going out and then turning around and coming back?

Lake City, CO May 20-21

Who's goin'?

I've talked to Dave leading the CO group and I check into rooms, at the Alpine Moose Lodge in Lake City. They have only 3 or 4 rooms left after the CO group made their reservations. Each room in 70 + tax and has two beds. Depending on the number of people who want to go, that might be the best way to accommodate everyone.

Possible Plan:

Day 1 - Leave SFHD @ 8:30 am. Head south on Cerrillos to Airport, turn right onto Airport. Turn Right on Jemez (1st right) through Agua Fria to 599. Turn right on 599 so we are heading north on 599 to 84/285. Continue to follow US-285 N / US-84 N. Turn LEFT onto US-285 N / US-84 N / PASEO DE ONATE. Continue to follow US-285 N / US-84 N. Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto US-285 N. In Meet the CO group right near the intersection of Hwy 285 and Hwy 114, (There is a family run convenience store right there.) We then will head west on Hwy 114 over North Pass to Gunnison and then south on Hwy 149 to Lake City. That gets us to the Lodge before deer thirty. (Dusk) After a gas stop and break in Gunnison we will ride the amazing and almost traffic-free 45 miles to historic Lake City, where we will stay at the Alpine Moose and experience Chef Bruno's cuisine. (We normally stock up supplies and then enjoy Bruno’s cuisine.)

Day 2 - Sunday morning, we all head downtown to the Tic-Toc diner for breakfast. Great chili & eggs. The diner was originally in downtown Albuquerque until it was moved. From the diner we’ll all leave heading south on Hwy 149 over Slumgullion Pass, through Creede, Wagon Wheel Gap and on to South Fork. From there, I imagine we’ll all would like to head south and on to home. We can figure out the route home, while we are up there, or hash it out here before we even leave.

It all just a thought at this point. So come on guys!!! Let's figure out what we should do.

I spoke to Murrae yesterday. Since he's off Tuesday and Wednesday, he and I are going to ride up toward Enchanted Circle and maybe Black Lake to check ride routes for the August/Sept Brag Wicked Twisty ride. I'm going to have to insist on Wednesday, though... I have school on Tuesday.

Anyway, for this weekend, I'm up for anything, but I bet a ride up US84 to Tierra Amarilla then right on US64 to Tres Piedras and continuing on to Taos would be nice. We could lunch in Taos and return via the same route. It's fun in both directions.

What do you think?

Are You going to grace us with your presence?
Actually I wasn't really thinking of riding this weekend since I have to spend time with my family of bikes, doing maintenance, and honey-do's. You know? ;)

In regards to the Lake City ride, I've made my reservations, got a room for the 20th. : )

Are you freaking kidding me? Last week was Easter, so I don't want to hear any shit. But this week is a regular week. And you're not going? Honey-Do's? That's a bunch of malarky. I know she'd ride. You're getting all domesticated in your old age, Bart.

It was a great ride today, other then the wind it was darn near perfect. We had another rather small group, just three riders met at the Santa Fe Dealership. We, decided to head south and ride to the top of Sandia Crest. The road still has some sand in the center and along the edges, but if ya stay between the lines. No worries.

See everyone made it to the top!!

However once there, the boys (Nick & CJ) had to check in.

We headed on down south to the the Ponderossa for lunch. Where we had the good fortune to run into two other buellers. Look at all those great lookin' bikes.

After lunch everyone headed home.
Here's a good one of Bart taking pictures.

It was fun, everyone be safe till next time. Nick it was nice to meet ya.
Kim

So tomorrow, Murrae and I are riding up to Enchanted Circle to scope it out. Meeting at SFHD at 0900. Anyone interested is invited.

Bart - I'll call you late this afternoon and try to come over to bring you that suit.

Well, mid week is definitely a good time to ride. Today Murrae and I had a spirited ride around the Enchanted Circle and it was beautiful! There was virtually no traffic, the weather was nice (slightly windy and of course cool since it is in the mountains and still April), the roads are in great shape, and there weren't any cops. There is less crap on those roads than at Valles Caldera or Sandia Peak. And there is still snow on the ground in Eagle's Nest!

The High Road is in particularly good shape, especially the leg southwest of Truchas where they finished that new construction. The pavement is smooth and the curves are well marked with wide shoulders and no crap in the road.

Also, 38 from Questa to Red River is a particularly nice road with nice smooth asphalt and lots of high speed curves.

We ate at a nice cafe in Angel Fire and then came down through Black Lake and Mora and back down the High Road. Over 350 mile day. Nice, too.

Anyway, look forward to riding that route with some of you the next time. I think I could ride that road every week and that would be ok with me!

CJ & Bart,

Have a great ride on Sunday. I've ALL my students riding in a show on Sunday so I need to be there to school them. For half it is their very first show. The drama has already begun, few had major meltdowns over it last night while practicing.

So take load of pictures and have a great time for me........

Bart- Good to see you got the New Mexico kids up and runnin' around. I haven't ridden (besides to and from work) for fun forever. Forgot how. I was thinkin' of converting my front end from and S to an R like Wycked did to try to spark the fire again.

Lemme know when you get back in town!
