LOL!
That's good Carey. Funny though we didn't see you there though??? He didn't break down but his exhaust fairing did break off. Actually it was a great day of riding. No problems, no accidents, no tickets, and free lunch to boot! I think I did almost 400 miles door to door. I did take some pics, but since I'm still using actual film I have to finish the roll before I will be able to load them up here. I know there were a few digital cameras being used so they should show up on here soon.

About a ride at tortilla flats this Sat, how about we meet at the gas station on Idaho Rd just off of US60 to the north. Shall we say 8am?

K

What's up boys?

Birdman from SWR took some pretty good pics, but I can't figure out how to link the site. Too bad Eric didn't show up.

J-- When's the housewarming party?

Carey-- Are you waiting for your local Kwaker dealership to get the ZX-14 in? What happened to the 636?

Thanks for the link Dan.
We are getting settled in so probably a couple more weeks.
The chin fairing was already broken. The Drummer SS mounts are pretty tight. I was seeing if I could lean far enough to break it off or sratch it up. Cosidering it was hanging about 1 inch I figured the lean angles to be in the 51-54 deg. area DAMN PILOT POWERS STICK GOOD!!

By the way I'm working tomorrow but I'm up for some Sunday riding

What kind of oil and filter does everyone use? I don't like shoveling out $50 for oil and a filter from Harley. Thanks.

Sniper... I use a K&N or Mibil one filter. I use Mobil-1 V-Twin for the crank case and Mobil-1 75-90 gear oil for the primary.

I'm still planning on going. Just putting some hard miles on the engine. Time to put synthetic back in. I may also have French at cycle werks put that new suspension on before the T-day. I'll keep ya posted

cool. I want some track time to dial in my suspension. I don't really don't want to go to deep in the aftermarket w/ mine, but i may be to heavy for the stock springs. I'm thinking of just max it out for the track and then softening where needed. I'm up for some other tips if anyone has any.

vince-eventually you may want to go with springs matched to your weight.i got my forks and shock back from trackside engineering two weeks ago.i had them revalved, with new springs and it does make a difference.you should go to the track and dial in the suspension the way you like it and just enjoy your ride! and the reason i say this is that i read an article by marcus mcbain in which he said you should really get to know your bike well and learn all about comp and rebound and what does and doesn't affect your bike.and as your skill level and confidents improve then look into aftermarket stuff.anyway, thats my opinion and i hope it helps you out.

I weigh about the same and have a pretty good setup for MY style... I'll try to remember to write it down this weekend...

I know I'm on 6 for preload on the rear, and I think 2.7 lines showing on the front (Third line sunk just a bit). At two lines the front would slide, at three, it felt a bit heavy in the turns... I think the right solution would have been three lines and 1.5 pounds more air or a little less rebound damping... I'm always playing with it though : ).

Thanks for the suspension tips, guys.

Snip3r. I used HD SYN3 and filter on my first oil change. I'm going to stay w/ a synthetic. But I'll probably change brands.

Vince just get the pro series suspension kit its only 76.00 from Buell but the difference is that they are single rate not progressive, better for dialing in to your weight and riding style. Progressive springs tend to harden as they get further through the stroke, the only reason manufactuers us them is to acommadate a wider range of riders and their sizes.
I'm switching to Royal Purple synthetic and I us a Bosch 3331 oil filter.

So in reality, you don't have to use HD brand stuff? My neighbor used to work at Cycle Barn in Seattle assembling bikes and he said they could use the same oil on Hondas, Suzukis, Kawasakis, etc. But when it came to Harleys and Buells, they had to use HD oil. That's why I'm wary of changing oil, I don't want to mess something up.
