Reepitcheep and I were discussing going to Mid-Ohio for races, vintage days, possible track days, etc. I'd like to get over your guys way sometime as it's got some nice areas, around C-bus is kind of flat. How are the roads down your way S-bolt? sometimes there's lots of cinders in/around the wayne, but with the mild winter wasn't sure if it was still that way...if ya'all get together keep it posted and I'll do the same...

Sounds cool c-jay.I love most of the roads in this area.I am about 25 miles southeast of columbus.Right now the biggest problem is that the counties are putting fresh gravel on the shoulders and people in cars are getting off the road and throwing gravel into the center of the lanes. It hasnt been horrible though. We have just been riding moderately instead of like we are nutz.Believe it or not I have had more trouble with tree branches, sticks and dead animals in the curves almost as much as gravel. But anyway I am up for a ride almost any evening or weekend so if your going on a short cruise(or a long one)and want another rider let me know.Or if you wanna come this way(from wherever you are)to go for a ride, let me know and we will meet up.I have been checking this every evening so let me know or email me at tacderanl@aol.com.

I'm in. CeeJay, when we going?

Lots of really nice riding around me (Lebanon Ohio, right off I-71 north of Kings Island).

It'd be cool to meet around Hocking Hills also...

Wow, some participation here. The mid-ohio stuff I'm talking to a few guys who have been to the vintage days and they said it was damn cool. Swap meets, old bikes, vintage racers, sidecars just some way neat stuff you don't see everyday. Mid-Ohio is also running an end of year race where they have changed up the format which to my understanding is going to make it more exciting. Seeing as the vintage stuff and the first race are back to back I won't be able to make both so I'd like to go to the vintage and then hit the races at the end of the season. Let me know what you think and if anyone else has any ideas. As far as riding goes that whole stretch between Dayton and Cinci is real cool-miami valley? Plus Hocking Hill is where I've heard the bowtie company brings up thier vettes to do testing at...Always wanted to ride into Kentucky tho, route seven from Portsmouth just looks cool. I can't ride this weekend, but maybe next... if anyone is interested...

I am just out of Ashland, Oh. I have a Uly, I hope that is ok, and used to live just east of Cincinnati. Very nice roads along the Ohio River on both sides. Just pick anything coming up, and there are sure to be twisties.
I need to go southeast to get to the good stuff from here.

I am going to a blessing of the bikes this sunday,so I wont be doing any rides sunday morning. The following weekend(the 29th I think)there is going to be a big poker run(which I am not really into)but its for a local deputy's family. He was a Fairfield County Deputy killed in a car accident while responding to a call. They are expecting 300 to 600 bikes and the route from what I hear is supposed to be a really nice ride.If anyone is interested in going let me know and I will post more info.

I'll take a crack at plotting a route that falls reasonably close to all parties.

No problem with the Uly, except that I might be drooling all over it : )

I dont think this would be real close for anyone but go to your local dealer and pick up a free issue of freewheelin magazine(april issue)and look at page 26.The editor wrote an article about a ride and I have rode this before. It is a really nice ride.Check it out and tell me what you think.

hey rum_runner,how far are you from parkersburg,w.v.?I am about 1hr.45mins.maybe we can meet up there sometime soon for a ride while we try to get the route together on here.we can jump on st.rt.50 and hit st.rt.555.its a nice ride, hills and curves.I dont think it would be much of a midpoint for anyone is the reason i am saying while we wait.actually come to think about it you are probably closer to zanesville, ohio.maybe we could meet up from there.I have a group of friends that i am taking over to pitt.pa on a night ride during the 3 rivers festival.we are going to head over just to drive through the tunnel and see the lights when you come through the other side.Has anyone else done this?If not you should try it.

Looks like Hocking Hills is the obvious choice.

How about an early-ish Saturday Morning start (like meeting at 9 am in Circleville), and I plan about 4 hours of every twisty road in Hocking hills, with 10 minute stops planned for about every 50 minutes of riding? I can't promise good roads everywhere, or even that there won't be any gravel sections (I can't always tell from my GPS planning software), but I will avoid them where I can.

We would then end with a late lunch at about 1 pm, somewhere still west or maybe not that far east of Hocking hills (though maybe more south then Circleville).

This puts the most burden on the Dayton / Lebanon folks, but this is where I know there are good roads.

How does this sound? Should I keep planning?

We would not cover a lot of distance as the crow flies, but there are probably 4 hours of great and unique twisty roads around there easily.

I don't know much about the roads there, I have been through once. Any advice is welcome.

Basically, most of the ride would be in this area:

And note that Google filters out the *really* twisty small roads on that second hybrid view link I posted. The ones you see there are the straight ones : )

hey reepicheep do you already have the roads marked that you want to ride?if not i am pretty familiar with the roads down that way and i can throw something together with a lunch stop and a couple places for a photo snap if anyone wants a pic or two.you are right about that area too,its a really nice place to ride.if you want to make circleville the meeting point i know some decent roads from there to get to the hocking hills area.(this is only if you havent already spent the time maping out a route)keep in mind that the state routes are very nice to ride in that area(ex:st.rt.664,56,93,180,327)they are all nice roads, curvy, hills and very scenic.I think the 3 rivers festival is june 2nd through june 13th.i am not real sure about that but it sounds right.so WHO is looking like they can go on this ride?obviously reepicheep and myself.is this a ride you could make it to rum_runner?and what happened to ceejay, loezapam and mark?I know another guy that rides an s3t that wants to go if we can do it on the 13th of may.Is this date to soon?I know that date seems weird but he works swing shift and only gets 1 weekend a month off.let me know what date you guys had in mind

Screamerbolt, why don't you pick the place to meet in the morning (I just picked McD because they have a tolerable breakfast and they are easy for an unknown number of people to trickle in at different times).

If there is a better place then Circleville, that's cool as well, just something South and West of Columbus in the area. And something that will keep the Dayton / Cincy / Lebanon folks from having to crawl through Columbus traffic.

Why don't you pick the lunch ending spot as well? Again, something southish of Columbus, and not *too* far east, we are already close to 3 hours east of Dayton.

Then tell me the best roads you know about, and I will plot a route to make sure they all get touched.

The 13th may be doable. I'll check on my side. How does it sound for everyone else?

I may be in for the 13th. circleville is an excellent starting/ending point with nice stuff on either side. That Pburgh things sounds cool too, if you go on the front end of it let me know...I haven't been able to check in too much, but I'll try to be more religious about it.

I've been all over that area that your reffering to reep and it's very cool riding. Stopped in at a golf course to wait out some rain oncte and the guy behind the counter was telling me how they bring the vettes through every year, all clad in their wrappings. Some really fast sweepers along with some really tight can't see turns.

hey rum_runner may 13th is a weekend, but that does suck if you cant make it.i do have another question though....does everyone plan on doing this ride as a balls to the wall wide open throttle trip or a nice cruise with short w.o.t.blasts?The only reason i am asking is because i do most of my riding 2 up with my wife.but dont take that as an indication that we ride slow(she dont mind knee dragging curves)but we dont usually ride the whole trip as fast as we can.
