Feb 22nd is our Chili cookoff, might be reason enough to come to Waterloo?

VTwin. I have an extra. I got two of them when I replaced mine as a back up. Hate to part with it as it is a spare. How ever if you can't get one I would help you out. I think I can get a used one from a friend that builds choppers out of Buells for parts. Were you trying to get a used or are they discontinued?

Hehe, I won't lie to you guys..I gotta "tuck the gut" a bit to get into the fookin things, but Hippie Dave told me they are supposed to be snug, sooooo. Just think of the movie "Tommy Boy"...Fat guy in a lil' coat..Fat guy in a lil' coat......

Dave,
Yea,I was disgruntled to see they didn't have a black one in my size...maybe now I can justify painting the M2 blue on one side, black on the other, with a white strip in the middle...hmm...if I do that, I'll have to paint the cases and everything so it'll match :D Or...just paint it all gloss black and call her done ;). Decisions, decisions....:D:D:D

Just thought I would mention that the Illinois State Harley Rally is in Quincy this year! Anyone that is interested in coming up is more than welcome to use one of our guest bedrooms. I believe it is June 6th through the 8th.
I haven't confirmed it yet but, it is rumored that an AMA flattrack race is in the works for June 6th to go along with the rally.

Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up so that you can pencil it onto your calanders.

Frank, I wasn't speaking about you having to suck in your gut. Don't know if anyone else remembers this but the image I got in my head was of..... Grape ape basically sitting on top of a car reaching down into it to steer it because he was to big sit in the car. He was wearing a white one piece race suit and his head barely fit in his helmet. I need to find the image.

Back from Jellystone...Was -25 degrees there but it's a dry cold...The snowmobiling was fantastic and John, this is the only way to see the park...There are not a whole lot of people there in the winter...Did 150 miles one day on the sled and had bison walk next to me on the trail...Lots of wildlife (except the wife) but the bears are all sleeping so I didn't take the 22cal...

Frank, ship ahead...That's what Les and I did last year with the maps and stuff...

See Ya!

So here's the skinny. I can retire effective 31 Oct this year or stay in and see what fun I can get into next. My sources say the external job market isn't as great as it was a couple years back and a lot of IT jobs have dried up. Lot's of folks 'hiring from within'. (Is that the polite way of saying we don't want ya?)

No big secret but I've been trying to get out of IL since about '98. Not that's it's bad or anything around here...I just miss mountains. Hell hills and curves would be nice. (re: look at the back tires on our bikes over here) Though military retirement is not taxed by IL so that is a plus. I'd have to go south near KY to get to those hills I guess or move over to Columbia IL and get closer to MO. (AK is tax free too but damn! If summer happens on a weekday instead of a weekend you're frocked!!) :)

So I've explored a number of ways to get transferred stateside and all have come up empty so far. My goal was CO, WA (state), WY, ID, maybe even AZ or NM. CONUS moves just ain't happening though. Wanna relocate....volunteer for overseas.

Now...if I look towards overseas I can possibly land Germany. Like anything else in the military...it's all a crap shoot. Volunteer for Germany and the dice may come up Korea. The thought of the beer over IN Germany and the riding... Ohhh baby! But i could land closer to the DMZ and that isn't the track day I want. Then again Guam doesn't have many roads either.

What's another 3-4 years anyhow? I mean sure...I get those all expense paid trips to the world fun spots and maybe even a fresh issue of those stylin' hush puppy boots and a floppy hat. :)

Ahhh decisions.

Hey DAve, I just got back from Montana and saw many job openings that required a security clearance...Most appropriate for you was the opening for a full time huckleberry picker...Job description did not specify whether you had to use your right or left hand and you had to provide your own "bear gun" which I know you can do...

So what's the economics of staying in another four?...And you're right about the IT job market right now...It stinks!...I think everyone is waiting to see what plays out over in the sand box...My personal opinion, and this is kinda tough when it's not my ass in the cross hairs, is that the economy just needs to see this thing done...The uncertainty is really hurting the economy...

The option I liked best was to move to Columbia and be a drug lord...Oh, wait, that was still in Illinois...Seriously though, this is the option I liked best as it didn't seem to carry the uncertainty of a mil move for you guys...

We just got back from seeing the daughter in Missoula and two days of snowmobiling in Jellystone...Temp the day before we arrived in West Yellowstone was -25 and that's not a wind chill...We got lucky and had 8 to 22 degrees...The park is just spectacular in the winter...Didn't need my "bear gun" as they were all a bit sleepy...The park hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and we took advantage entering about 7:15...On the way out one evening we came around a corner and there were a whole bunch of bison just kinda strollin' along side and on the road coming right toward us...I had everyone shut down there sleds and they just walked right between us kinda like that ad that is currently running on TV...They were at least as close as two feet passing my sled...Saw lots of balds and a few goldens...Trumpeter swans, mink, two coyotes hunting and barking when one caught something in the grass...A 6x6 bull elk and a whole bunch of other elk...The snow makes the wildlife really stand out...Only means of transportation in the park are snow coaches, snowmobiles and cross country skis (is that the right spelling?)...

Hey Frank!...What's the matter?... Won't any of these guys talk to you?...Congrads on becoming a Buell dealer...Yea, I was thinking about riding up to Waterloo next weekend but I'm going to wait and see what the wx is doing before deciding...I'll let you know later this week...

John, that back has really affected your writing...

Kevin is leaving for the Indianapolis show at four in the morning and I was going to go until this wx arrived...Don't think that's too good an idea, even in a cage, as of now...He'll probably come to the same conclusion when he looks outside in the morning...

Got a new battery in the beemer today and feel much better about that...Amazed myself that I didn't wait until I had jump started it twice before taking action...

Made my reservation at the hotel in Missoula where the IBR is starting and finishing...

Finally turned in my Bun Burner Gold ride documentation (hell, it was only in October, 2001)...Mike Kneebone wrote a nice little note on the packet that arrived just before we left for MT commenting on my change of rides from the saddle sore to bun burner...There's a guy on the IB web site who just finished a 125,000 mile year on an H-D Ultra...WOW!...I told Leslie and she's going to try and contact him for an article in "The Enthusiast"...

That's about it from here...Gee, can you tell the weather outside is frightful!...

See Ya!

Bob

Racerboy,
Did you ever figure out what horse to add to the stable yet? I seen a small side bar in this month's cycle world on the FJR. They praised it pretty highly as a long-term test...

Frank...I'm staying with the ones I have...Don't ask why I didn't get into the IBR this year...Stupid me miss read the application and submitted it too late...Probably wouldn't have made it anyway as they weight those who have run it in the past and those who have volunteered in the drawings...So that's what I plan on doing this time is volunteering in Missoula to get some brownie points...

Hey, if any of you guys ever get to MT plan on eating at the Marysville House in Marysville MT north of Helena...Dinners are served on paper plates and it's kinda a biker bar...I had a ribeye steak that was about two inches thick and 24 ounces served with "cowboy" beans and corn on the cob...If you can believe this I had trouble finding a restaurant in MT that served lamb...What's with that?...MT has more sheep than people...That's because the women are so ugly...

See Ya!
