Man o Man, I am ready to go! I ride just about every day to and from work. It is about 50miles round trip. I figure the more time on the bike, the better I will be. Plus the gas savings are great. I am in the process of picking up a PC Commander III and a TRE(timing retarding eliminator)for the TLR. I have the K&N and the Yosh RS3 cans. Total output after all the mods is close to 150rwhp / 89ftlbs torque with a remap and dyno tune from Suzuki North off of 35. Oh yeah they got their DYNO up and running. They quoted me $229 for a full work up and remap with up to 6 pulls to dial it in.

Speaking of 183, I think that was on a dyno. I have been to 176 once and that was on the highway on an R1 WoW, what a difference and a ride the wind protection sucks on the R1 compared to the TLR.

Speaking of break in, Looks like my girl picked up her first bike. She just got her a new 06' VSTAR 1100 in Black Cherry. I get to go drive it home this weekend from the dealer. I finally get a riding partner all beit on my Sporty.

TIME TO RIDE>>>>>>>...

HINT HINT>>>>>

Just call me if you want to go riding

I just re read the post and I in no way was dogging the fastest production made 600 ever. Those R6's can flat out haul @ss!

I look forward to throwing the TLR around chasing them sometime soon.

I remember the last ride we all went on. My engine had been recently rebuilt and was at the end of its break in period. So I decided to shoot up to ~135 for a bit just to feel it out. I kept thinking "damn, my bike is loud", until I looked over my shoulder to see a Micah on my ass.

Micah, you don't follow. You draft.

Yes, the 183 was on a dyno. In no way do I think it'll do that with my 200 pounds of monkey parts flappin' in the breeze.

That tiller is going to be a freak after those mods. Are you going to do any suspension work too?

Derek was kind enough to hook us both up through one of his old cali friends and get us a couple of Dobeck fuel management devices. Dobeck and M4 exhausts needed a broken in 2006 R6. So I loaned them mine to do a map. With an M4 slip-on and the computer, the charts showed a 1hp gain across the board. And the dyno guy said the throttle was much more crisp. The really good part was to see how lean the bike was stock, and then how this new device fixed that. Perhaps my engine will last longer now. It'll also prove to be worth its weight in gold when I get a full system. I'm going to begin looking for intake mods now. A K&N should be on at the very least.

Bring that thing to the track, Micah! I think that's the ride we should all plan on doing together. Maybe it's because I'm getting older. Or maybe it's that I have a wife and daughter at home. But I'd rather hedge my bets with a track and corner workers. And this is coming from a guy who drove his Porsche to Utah just to pin it for an entire tank of gas (...okay two).

I would love to do the track rides, the only issue is I am a complete amature and would never get to ride with you guys due to my class ranking...

I am still very interested and the April 15th date is enticing, I am just in a struggle with spend $300 on the track or the same money on the PCIII mod. I know tuff choice....

I am still open to a free ride on 3002 across Ray Roberts and I promise to keep it tame or any other road really. Truly I miss the group of guys all moving at slightly above the posted speed limit and shooting the *#&% afterwards and Oh MAN! not to forget the Tioga BBQ place.

So far, it's only Derek and myself who are going to the track from this group and we ride in different groups.

For RideSmart track days, he's in Level 4 and I'm in 3. I rode in Level 4 at the end of my last day and would rate myself in the bottom 20% of that group, whereas Derek is in the top 20% easily. Level 3 is a Ty Howard race school that rides with Level 4 sometimes.

Lone Star Track Days only has 3 levels. So Derek and I would be in the same group there, now. But we weren't last year when we did that one. He did 3 and I did 2.

My point is it doesn't matter what level you're riding in. Everyone uses the same paddock area. And the bu11$#1t that flies there is far better than any you'll hear in a BBQ joint after a mellow ride (relatively speaking), imho. Everyone's so pumped, you can't help but enjoy yourself.

Okay Folks, just some new BRAG info... We (Chris, David, and myself) went to the officer training this past weekend. We learned a lot and are going to meet with Bret in the next few weeks and get this thing going... We'll be asking some of yall for some help in certain areas, which yall might just have some expertise in... We'll be asking questions and maybe a small poll to see what yall want in OUR BRAG chapter... We're all excited about getting this off the ground and rolling... And I do mean ROLLING... : ) Stay Tuned...

Paul, just a clarification: I noticed a flat on my old back tire the same day I got the new front in. (To match the new back I had sitting upstairs)I've got the front mounted and installed so far. This was going to be a tinker with the bike week until I had a freaking flat on the truck last evening going about 75mph on 820...
I was coming home with the freshly installed front bike tire in the truck when it happened, and it went flat quick !!!
I was in the left lane and pulled over onto the center shoulder, right rear wasted, looked like the sidewall had been cut in 4 or 5 places and wasn't even seated on the rim anymore. Changing the tire on the traffic side of a highway at about 6:30 pm on a weekday, now that sucked... I"m going to get another stock wheel to replace the spare (which doesn't match the other four) and get some new tires. Anyway, more Brag news later...........

Hay guys; Any of your lil' ladies that want to learn to ride, try different bikes, and have a ton of fun(and a vacation) please have them contact me. I know of a class that is alot like track days. It has beginner and experienced classes and track times. The one difference is that all the sport bike dealers are on hand and you use their bikes. Oh and sorry fellows but it is for ladies only. This would be a great time for someone to learn as well as try different bikes to see what fits them. The next class isn't until October and it is held in Las Vegas. I will be there and would love to have company. I know its a ways away but when you factor in flight, hotel, and registration; Seven months is right around the corner. If anyone is interested let me know and I will give more info.

Kevin, on the topic of those new tires you need (sorry, not the wheel), are you a Costco member? I don't know if you're looking for a specific tire/brand for your truck, but we almost always have the best prices on what we carry (if you find a better price, take advantage of it, I can almost guarantee they're losing money on it). There's a Costco down your way, too, at Matlock and 20. Anyhow....

Jonny, thanks for the help. I"m not a costco member yet, although I plan on it. I'll probably let my Sams run out first. I probably paid a bit much but I went to the local discount tire (which is literally around the corner) and got the tires and wheel coming from the warehouse today. I"ve been driving without a spare the last couple of days and that makes me nervous. I got a set (5) of BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A tires. They are what came on my truck and I"ve got 81,500 on it now and it wasn't for the flat I would have gone another year on them... Thanks again for the idea... Hey, can you get a one day trial membership or something so I could go in and just check out the costco and see what they've got???

Yes, you can get a one-day pass, the only difference between Sam's trial membership and ours is that at Costco you cannot shop until you pay the membership fee. But you can look around and drool on stuff once at absolutely no charge. Anyhow, Long Trails are a pretty good tire (we carry them) and honestly, Discount is our closest competitor, at usually only a dollar or two more per tire. If its convenient and (probably) pretty inexpensive, go for it.

Derek, which dealership are you working at? That is, what brand parts does this TNT offer include?

Man, Dan, I wish I was! It's Lone Star Round-Up weekend here in Austin...and I gotta work all weekend! Here's something for y'all to chew over/look forward to, though:

Who wants to go for a weekend ride in the Texas Hill Country? We’re planning a weekend getaway for May 12, 13 and 14. We’d base it out of Camp Live Oak ( http://www.campliveoak.com/ ) in Leakey, smack dab in the middle of the best motorcycle riding country in Texas. We’re figuring $20 a head will get you a cookout dinner on Saturday night and a kick-a$$ commemorative t-shirt. Accomodations (cabins, or possibly, camping), all other meals and libations will be up to you. If you’d like to get a feel for the terrific time you’d be in for, point your browser to these links on Badweb:

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/6817/105580.html?1111730981
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/6817/15837.html?1033298826

I believe we’ll have at least one chase truck/trailer, as some people have expressed an interest in some off-roading as well (Sir Chadley’s got a new Husky!), so that’s an extra safely feature in case of a breakdown, etc. Extra stuff-hauling space, too, at least from Austin to Leakey!

Let's hear some opinions on this from those interested, so I’ll know how many cabins to reserve/how much food/how many t-shirts, etc. I'll start an official sign-up sheet once I get a rough idea of the way things are headed. I'll be posting this over on the Houston-area Storm Front as well, so maybe we can get a great confluence of Texas V-Twin mayhem together!

In case it matters to anyone, Real County is no longer dry.

Scene:
August, 2005. Me walking into the gas station nearest Garner State Park:

Me: "Whoa! When did y'all start sellin' beer?"
Cashier: " Well, it was 'bout a week ago. Or so."
Me: "Well, I suspect people are happy."
Cashier: "Well, I think people are gen'raly happy."

If Real County had never been dry, though, I never would have learned that a twelve-pack will fit in an M2 tank bag, and that it will stay cold between Uvalde and Leakey.

The store mentioned above sells really good breakfast tacos.

Will any riders stay in Kerrville the weekend of May 12-14? The reason why I ask is Leakey is another 60 miles for me to drive when it’s late on a Friday night and offers a lot of lodging choices.

Hey there,

I live in Desoto (15minutes dead south of downtown dallas). Anybody know any dealerships near me that it's safe to get a tire plugged from a nail? I would go to Longhorn but they stopped doing Buells. Isn't there a dealership in east dallas?

I got this 4 inch long looking nail that went through my tread and came out the sidewall. It's still in there (slow leak). But I sure felt it when it went in!

Pardon my ignorance, Do they have to take the tire off to plug nail holes?

Keys, Do Not Plug Motorcycle Tires!
They don't work well and you don't want a plug failing when riding. Cycle Gear has done a good job mounting and balancing tires. BTW I have found out that since everyone charges more for mounting and balancing tires not purchased from them, it cost the same, or close enough, to buy them from Cycle Gear or dealership, than buying them online. Put a pencil to it before you buy.

I would have to second Cowtown. Cyclegear worked out way cheaper than any dealer I have been too. Plus that do it within a day if the tire is in stock.

They did my m2 cyclone tire and it took them 2 days to get the tire and a day to mount and balance it.

I was pleased.

There are some motorcycle tire manufacturers who have published vague references to repairs being possible on their tires (Pirelli for one). However, this does not apply to all manufacturers and is not necessarily a safe practice, because, as Paul pointed out, it would suck if something happened while you were riding. Therefore, the blanket statement "Do Not Plug Mototcycle Tires" works extremely well as a general rule.

As a side note, you said that the nail went in the tread and out the sidewall? Two red flags there. With any tire, motorcycle or otherwise, the Rubber Manufacturers Association reccommends that no more than two repairs ever be performed, not to be closer together than fifteen inches. Also, fixing a sidewall is a big no-no. As with repairing motorcycle tires, there are some brave manufacturers who allow sidewall repairs (Michelin), but they are few and far between so we arrive at another blanket statement, Do Not Repair Sidewalls. Anyhow, just my two cents....

Here's a hearty for CycleGear. They usually have tires in stock, most definitely a Michelin Pilot Power.

I had a puncture plugged when Dago and I were riding out in the boonies, but only to get home, afterwhich I got a new tire. Since then, I've carried a tire repair kit on longer rides for that same purpose.
