Bart, sorry to hear about your Dad.

Spoke to Murrae Saturday about the website and so that should be moving within a couple weeks. He said that four riders showed up for the ride yesterday and got snowed on. Isn't it going to Spring there soon?

I'll be back April 2. Looking for a job. See you around that time.

Henrik,
Thank you for your thoughts, it may get easier, but the emptiness remains forever.

CJ,
I should be back from Kansas about that time. Should I dust off one of the bikes for you? Good luck with your search!

I'll be bringing mine with me. But I'm always willing to keep the edges of the tires scuffed up on yours if you have trouble juggling three rides.

Actually, what I'm sweating right now is whether I'll be able to fit the bike in the U-Haul with all my other shite. If not, I'll be shipping it.

CJ,
Wow, so that was a pretty short stay out there in CA! I hope you found decent employment back in NM.
I'm out in Kansas right now, doing a job at Ft. Riley. Gonna hook up with the KCmob crowd this weekend.
I should be back about the same time you get into town.
Maybe I'll see you at the BRAG ride, LOL.
I hope everything fits, drive safe. Did you already find a home?

Hi NM!
Glad to see you're braving the weather and road conditions to get out and ride. Have fun and ride safe.
You all are welcome to come over to sunny AZ for our first "official" brag ride on thursday april 6th. I know, I know... a thursday. I don't know who thought of it but I took the day off work to be there anyway.

Bart, I'm real sorry to hear about your father. My thoughts are with you...

Kelly,
thanks for your thoughts, during this hard time for me.
Yea, a thursday ride does seem strange, although, there IS less traffic, so the roads will be yours for the taking.
I hope you guys have a good turnout, and a safe and enjoyable ride.

ZIA THUNDER BRAG RIDERS
Have a good ride today, get some pics, I'll post pics tonight of my ride with the KCmob folks.
It should hit 60 degrees today. Warmest day since I've been out here!

Did anybody make the ride today?
Here are some pics from my ride in Kansas city today. The KCmob got together, and escorted me through some great backroads, and then through the city for some grub.
I felt like a VIP with such a large group of Buells leading me around town. : )

This was the first stop after we ripped down routes 5 and 7. Nice roads!

Festus, rescued a '98 S1W with cracked cases from a junkyard to build this himself.

Some nice old iron, I really like the turn signals in the handlebars...

What a motley crew! Glad I had the chance to meet the guys!

The end to a glorious day!

I really enjoyed myself. The roads were fun and VERY scenic.
This group is planning a 4 corners run in August, perhaps we can reschedule ours around the same time.

I hope y'all had as much fun as I did today, sometimes my work does suck, but other days, it's ok. : )
C-ya next weekend!!!

Sorry to hear that Kim : (
How was the road? Any sand on the corners still?
bummer you had to go by yourself, we're going to have to do something to get the Buellers motivated in this town.
I'll be back in town this Sunday. The ride is down to Cedar Crest and back. If it's a small group again, wanna go ahead down to the Ponderosa for lunch?
I'll probably head into Albuquerque after that since I live there. Let me know what you think.

Kelly,
While I have been known to whip out the camera and click away while riding, this wasn't one of them. ;)
I took the picture while driving back to the hotel in my company truck. If you look close, you'll see the cracks in the windshield, LOL.
I'm about two hours west of KC in Junction City, Kansas. We're installing 5 Bridge Cranes on Ft. Riley, an Army base.
I did have a great time. The Kansas City riders are a fun group of guys. Sam, the one that contacted me, has an NRHS 88" kit in his XB9R and was easily pulling 70MPH wheelies. It's amazing how many guys showed up with such short notice.
They are a very aggressive riding group.

Wow, sounds really cool. It sure would be nice to get some Buellers out of the woodwork in NM.

I won't be riding on Sunday. I'll still be driving in. We're going to load and leave on Saturday and stop for the night somewhere on the way. I expect to arrive in Albuquerque sometime in the afternoon Sunday.

Anyway, I'm still on the job hunt. I've got a few leads that I'm trying to run down so we'll see what pans out. If not, Murrae offered to let me sell bikes until I get something!

Bart,

The road wasn't bad, it wasn't great either. There was a lot of sand on parts of the road and none in others. Not too surprising since it snowed up there 4 days eariler. It was the worst on the LA side of the Valle. Lunch at the Ponderosa for Sunday's ride sounds great. See ya on Sunday.

Zia Thunder BRAG members

Sorry this is so late and you only have one days notice, but hey, by now YOU should know there IS a scheduled ride for you EVERY weekend!!! This weekends ride is: April 2- Sandia crest

Sandia Crest- Meet at SFHD at 9:00AM leave at 9:30AM. South on NM 14 to Cedar Crest. Meet Abq riders at The Coffee Shop at 10:00. Ride the Crest road, head south on NM 14 to the Ponderosa for lunch, return to Santa Fe by NM14. 140 miles

I hear there was a rather dismal turnout last weekend. (as usual) It's so sad we can't even get a couple of riders together for a ride. Is it the weather? Or is it that the Buell owners in this area just don't want to ride?
Murrae speaks of a "riding season".
What's that? You mean you can only ride during certain times of the year? I used to live in Las Cruces, for 16 years. I rode all year 'round. I moved to Phoenix for 10 years, again, I rode all year 'round. I moved here in August, and was in for a rude awakening. It got cold, Brrrr. But I still rode all year 'round. I bought an electric vest and gloves and hit the roads. If you truly have a passion for motorcycling, you will ride. I may be nuts, or I may just be a serious Buell enthusiast. Whatever the reason, I like to be out and about on my bikes EVERY weekend. CJ Rodden, the former Assistant Director is moving back to Albuquerque this week. Perhaps he can assume the role once again of Assistant Director. With Murrae being so busy with the Riders edge, and me living in Albuquerque, I'm not sure if I can ride up to Santa Fe every Sunday to meet one person for a ride.
Perhaps Kim would be interested in the position? I'll speak with her at this weekends ride. If not, I'm sure CJ will accept it.

On a happy note, the Zia Thunder website will be up and running, I think in another month.
It will now be called Santa Fe BRAG.
I'm not sure what all that means, sounds like the corporate office got their hands in on it, and is changing the name. Yet something else that frustrates me. Corporate weenies changing things on a whim, without asking the riders for their input.

So, show up if you want to ride, the weather is supposed to be Buelltiful, in the 60's, no clouds, no rain, with little wind.
Hwy 14 does still have some construction going on just south of Santa Fe, it's only for about 2 miles though. Don't wimp out because of that, please! We'll ride to the coffee shop to meet any Albuquerque riders, (ha ha!) and then ride up to the Crest, and then back down and to the Ponderosa for lunch. I'll have my camera, so don't be surprised if you come around a corner and see me laying down on the shoulder snapping pics of you. Just keep riding, you'll get to see them later in the evening when I post them here...

turned into a real nice day today. 4 people showed up, one had to turn around halfway due to bike problems. The remaining 3 made it to the coffee shop.

coffee shop

Then we headed up to the top of Cedar Crest. (Sandia Peak)
Brrrrrr! Talk about cold, glad I have electrics!

Miss Kim

MissMona

From there, we headed down Hwy 14 to the Ponderosa for lunch.
Kim, glad to finally meet you, I look forward to many more rides this season. Hopefully a few others well show up and be ready to ride. Maybe they'll even have a full tank of gas and be ready to ride! : )

Next weekend, our monthly meeting is scheduled, along with a ride down to the mineshaft in Madrid, and a ride up to the Crest, (again?) he he (that must be for the folks that missed it this week!)
I'm open for suggestions if anyone would like to ride somewhere else. More than likely, after the meeting, I'll just head down hwy14 to the Ponderosa for lunch and call it a day.

You can find out the ride info here:

The monthly meetings are held at Santa Fe Brewing company. It's on the east side of I-25, just as you come into town, not sure of the exit. : ( Murrae was saying they meet at the dealership and then head over to the brewing company. After the meeting they head out for the weekend ride.
hey, now that your back you can take back the Asst. Director! You are much more politically correct than I. ;)

Zxzer,
It's NEVER too far, and hey, your so close to so MANY twisties there in NC.

Ain't the Valle pertty?

I'm the goofy lookin' one.

Hopefully, with the warmer weather coming, more people will come out and join us.

Bart,

Dude, showing up to BS WITHOUT a bike, just doesn't count. But, I hear next weekend there will be a hot tub party along with the ride.

I'd be down with that, up to the Valle is always a great ride! We could do what I did. Up to the Valle, down to Rio Rancho, over tramway to the old hwy and up 14 to cedar crest, up cedar crest, back down to 14 and then 14 up to santa fe. So, it was like, two rides in one. Not sure anyone else would want to do that long of a ride though.

I guess we'll have to see if anyone else shows up next weekend. I'm perty easy, doesn't matter to me where we ride; as long as we ride.

How does everyone feel about some non-buell riders joining us? Couple of guys that I work with would like to tag along sometime.

kp

These weekend rides are not official "BRAG" sanctioned rides as far as I know, so there is no problem with other brands showing up and riding. Nor do you have to be a BRAG member.
They just need to follow basic rules of the road, ya know?
LIKE NOT PASSING OTHERS IN THE SAME LANE!!!
he he, And perhaps showing up for the ride with gas in their tank!
