Yeup, He did too. Actually just before Dave got his Lightning, we took a ride, he on Pauletta's Blast and me on the Nighthawk. I clock Dave at 89mph with a strong head wind. A smaller person without a 20mph head could have broken 90mph no problem.

Jim, Dave and I have often wanted to start a Stock Blast Series. All skill since you do not have the HP to make up for lost time in a curve. I think it would be fun and the slower speeds and less expensive bikes may help.

The mail is on it's way Mark. BTW, if you click on a persons name, over on the left side of the screen, you get their profile page. At the bottom of the profile page is a link that will let you send them mail.

Larry, give me c all so we can get things set up for 'Badness.........
252-746-8474

With the post-2000MY sprocket change, Blasts can see 90mph plus. Now Pauletta's Blast had the Race Exhaust on it and the carb re-worked, I agree that with a lighter rider and no head wind, ours could have seen 95 mph.

Jim-track days are about improving your skills, not necessarily going as fast as you can. The track day I attended a few years ago, I set a personal speed limit of 100 mph for most of the day, only going all out the last couple of sessions. I wanted to improve my abilities through the corners, to really explore the limits of my Lightning and find where my limits were. Funny thing was, even with the self imposed speed limit, I was still one of the "faster" guys in my group. I was passing continually, I was just doing it all in the corners. Folks on much "faster" bikes would whiz by me on the either of the 2 long straights (VIR Full Course, 3.27 mi.) but at the next technical section, I caught back up and passed them back.

Who's running this track day? Will there be instructors? Class room time? The class room time helped me go fast more than anything else. The one advantage you have though is that you'll be on a Buell which makes getting through the corners a lot easier. There really is a difference that is clearly noticeable when cornering.

One thing everyone will have to consider when going to this or any track day-gear. You will need full leathers, proper riding boots, good leather gloves, and of course, a full face helmet. Some operators will have leathers you can rent, but you have to let them know ahead of time. Sportbike Tracktime did let me ride that day with my mesh gear,(all I had at the time) but I had to layer clothing underneath, so I looked like the Stay-Puff marsh mellow man after being dropped in the fire, and felt like it too. 2 shirts, 2 pair of jeans, duct tape around my ankles, I could barely move and was headed for toward a heat stroke by day's end.

Hotrats - I'm just toying with ideas right now. So potentially yes. The one at Barber looks like it will be fun as well. Alabama is a long way away though.

Dave - I've got a Firstgear jacket and pants. Do those count as leathers, or do they want real cow hide?

She is so FUN when she is wet!

The Uly of course. It was raining, but I decided to go for a ride anyway. South is the quickest way out of civilization. I took some new roads. I had a blast. My tire should be scrubbed in for Sutches now. I'm looking forward to Friday!

I have rode my blast in up in the mountains and could keep up with a lot of people, As Clown say's....Its not the arrow but the indian!

I have thought about taking it to the track, it would be fun to go wide open the whole way. I want to cut and reweld the footpegs up higher for more clearance but I cannot find any racing slicks to fit it for more grip. I have had both tires sliding in the mtns.

Jlance, if it is not leather you will have to run novice.

Thanks new12r. I've never done a trackday, so I'd probably want to run novice anyway.

BTW, someone posted a picture of you (I think) dragging a knee through Deals Gap while passing a LEO. I can't find it. Do you have a link?

Someone on a Red Bolt rode the Dragon on Saturday the 11th. Not as good as the Sheriff hoping New12R crashes so he can catch him...or the Yamaha doing a bunny hop.

J, do you want a bigger photo?

I had no vinyl left on the seat, Keeping my cool was the only reason I did not crash! Think about this, 65mph or so on the dragon, come out of a blind right to a left with a LEO to another blind right(photo) that leads to a blind left, all the while not looking at the camera in the runoff zone. Any brake or abrupt manuver would have thrown me off line and into Darryl(killboy). I had to take a break at the overlook for about an hour after that, never did see the sheriff on the way back tho'.

For those of you coming to MBIII I will have some time to show yall around our neck of the woods, This will be a lot of fun.

ZXer, the bunny hop was absolutely freaking insane, that guy is a local racer up there and was way to fast for my blood!

New12R..Your still the man. Had a cop walk up next to me the other night and ask how fast my bike is...Told him I couldn't go faster than the speed limit(with a sheepish grin). He then asked me if I would stop for the police and I said Radio is still faster, And he said I sure as hell wouldn't stop, couldn't catch you if I wanted to.I said, I try not to break any laws and cause problems for the police. Fuquay Varina Police know I would never break the laws.

New12r, The picture is the bomb. We are going cross the state Friday to ride the Dragon, then ride down to C3 Central for MBIII. I can't wait to be in Suches again.

1313 - Cool pic of the old days. I have to agree with Hotrats, I want one of the RSS too.

The closest RSS 1200 in the pic above is not your normal RSS 1200. It is a 1992 RSS 1200 Japanese model. Behind it is a normal 1992 RSS 1200 Domestic model.

It never dawned on me how close it was to the S2 until I re-discovered these pics. But then again it is still quite a ways away from a S2...

Sportymark - Was good seeing you yesterday. Thanks for the "item." Do I need to locktight the bolts?

I ment to tell you. Remember when we pumped up the tire after you plugged it, and we let the pump run for a long time, but it never quite made it up to 40 psi?

Well, before I went to Daytona, I put my tire gauge on it. It blew the little white stick all the way out. They stop putting numbers on the stick at 50 psi. I'm guessing it was about 80. Awsome pump, lousy guage.

Dave - I've got a Firstgear jacket and pants. Do those count as leathers, or do they want real cow hide?

For the Stone Mountain event, they're saying if you run as a novice, any quality riding jacket and doubling up on your jeans will do the trick. Remember though, leather is better. But as I said before, my first track day experience, I was allowed to run with my textile gear.

Here's the flyer and info Glitch left in our meeting and info section:

Out of the darkness!!!

Into the light

For so many, the Blast brings you out of the darkness and into Motorcycling, Luke has joined the club.

I think the boy liked it.

You know Kristi said she wanted to get him a riding toy for his second birthday. I think her idea of a riding toy and mine are a little different.

For every good ride must come to an end, Kristi asked Luke if he wanted to go inside. I guess you can see his answer.

So how do you explain to a child that is not quite two that its time to go inside.

Mark came by with Ellen's Blast today. I was sitting on it when Carlee brought out Luke. I called him over and sat him on the bike with me and he loved it. Then I started the bike walked it backwards to the end of the driveway and rode it back up. I did that about ten times and boy loved it even more. The only problem was when it was time for Mark to leave. Luke could not understand why Mark took his toy away. You know I feel the same way after a fun ride, I do not want to put my toys away either.

Carlos, Kristi- got a question. Is there any floor space open, or do you know if the rental property has any more cabins. My father and his wife are interested in coming down to see what this Buell thing is about. Do you know of any motel close to the area?
Cute boy in the pictures, sounds like we might have another Buelligan in the future.

U4euh,

I think all 3 of our children will have the "Buelligan Bug" by time they are 16. Carlee thinks she's getting a Blast! when she turns 16.

As for the cabin, I'll call you today about details I'd rather not post.
