Bad Weather Bikers:

Buell / Harley Davidson of Frederick Maryland is sponsoring a Brag chapter and is seeking Buell owners interested in membership.

The are currently two officer positions (Assistant Director and Treasurer) available for those interested in becoming directly involved with the chapter. Please note, these are non-paying positions.

The primary purpose of the chapter is bring together fellow Buell owners with a passion for their bikes and riding. We will have monthly rides primarily around the Northern VA and Western MD area (not exclusively), and we hope to join up with other local area Brag Chapters for extended runs.

Being a new Buell owner / Brag member I hope to gain from the experience and knowledge of veteran Buell owners and Brag members to make the HD/Frederick Brag and enjoyable experience for all who choose to participate whether its for one ride or many.

I'm trying to get a list of people interested so we cam plan for our first meeting this year. If this appeals to you or you just want more information please contact me or HD of Frederick.

Yes, Linda and I will be there.

I talked about it at the meeting today, I think a few people will ride over to Ashburn to participate.

Do they have pool tables there, Pete?

José,
Which Borders did you find the RRW? I tried Fairfax, on the way back, but no luck.

Forgot I'm in-call next week and probably won't make it next weekend.

Thanks for the pin -- we should talk Ken into ordering something like it.

Hoping for warm weather to scrub those tires in.

I'm subscribed to it. I have seen it at the one in Pentagon City before.

The other place that has it for sure is Fast Lane Cycles in Chantilly. You might want to check that bike shop in Reston/Herndon too.

Jose.. Cool Beans! See you guys there.. as for pool tables, no, sorry they do not have them. The place is kinda small; there is a bar section and two dining sections. We're going to be taking over one (possibly the other if there are enough of us).. The manager said we'd have the one section and sound as well.. so I think that's one wall screen, and about 8 smaller screens (we should be able to see a screen it from any seat in the section)

The SCRC's (my cruiser club)usual meeting place has pool tables, but they are hosting ESPN for a dart tournament that weekend and so we can't have the place.

Hey Ramon,

Like I said before, I'm actually a 'plank holder' from the 're-born' BRAG chapter at Frederick (as is Deerhunter) and if they ever contact me, I'd be happy to help out. Not sure I can take on the duties of a 'senior' officer, but we'll see.. I'm still more of a .. uh.. Flight Leader.. hehehehehehehe..

On another note! I was there Sunday and found out a few interesting things..

Frederick is running a V-Rod Destroyer Team! They are in Gainsville right now (or on their way back as I type this)

Bemisderfer is BACK! They took two quickly prepped race XB's (don't know if they are 9s or 12s) down to Daytona! And have yet to mention it to any of us faithful.. damn it!

The dealer principal ordered up.. Two XBRR's.. hoping they'll get one some time soon and go racing some more..

All of this was set up 'behind closed doors' so to speak.. since this seems to be the first I and any one else have heard of it.

I need to drop a note or three over there.. They need to let us know these things.. after all, we'll all support any Buell racer. And after the last two years of them saying 'No Racing' at Frederick.. well.. looks like they changed their minds!

Jose, I am up for hosting the wrenching event again if need be, preferably in warmer weather and after I get these other 2 Buells out of the garage. However I am not too sure if we can get Paul to cross the bridge again and risk another ticket (hehehe). Also we need a donor bike to do whatever work on.

Mio, same as Jose said, if you need help with anything, just give me a shout as I do 99% of my own work, to include MAJOR engine work, i.e. porting of heads, cam chest clearancing, tranny work (when you see my X-1, you'll understand). So if you have minor stuff that you want to do, that should be easy.

Blublak,

I spoke with Mike (GM) last Thurs. and he told me they have folks at Daytona racing I believe. Maybe I'll run into 'em in FL.

Looks like I'm going to miss out on the party @ O' Bradys - I'll try to think about 'yall but I'll probably be plenty busy.

On Brag:

The most demanding position (in my opinion) is the secretary, which my 'ol lady volunteered to take on as an associate member until she gets her bike next year - lot's of paperwork and file management. I just want to ride you know, keeping up with paper is not my thing. K's good at it and in some weird way I think she even enjoys it.

There'll be time when I get back from Daytona to go over this with whoever is interested in great detail. I want to focus primarily on getting folks together and out on the road. The Ft. Washington group has it's stuff together, going on rides with them will also be fun provided they don't object to the few Frederick riders tagging along. It also gives people the chance to experience riding on a variety or roads at various levels (MD & VA).

I'll try to get pics to post next week. Have fun everyone and try not cause too much trouble during the race. - see 'yall when I get back. GO BUELL!!!

Hey Ras, what kind of bike is she looking for? I have 2 in my garage that are for sale as we speak. They belong to a fellow I work with and he is in Daytona right now and asked if I could try to sell for him.

1st is a 98 S1w. color is nuke blue frame with orange body. Really good shape, mostly stock other than header tape, V&H canister and re-jet of the carb. Also he reworked the twin tail seat, but also has a spare stock seat that goes with the bike. He's asking $4500.

2nd is 00 X-1 same color as S1w. has rearsets and crossroads bars, other than that completely stock. Needs complete paint job/body swap and rear tire. Flipped bike over backwards doing squid move on bald rear tire. Asking $2k

Both bike run fine and with a little TLC could be great bikes to run or race.

PM me if anyone wants more info or wants to come look at them. I want them outta my garage!!

Bluelightning,

We're paying off my bike before buying a new one. Thanks for the offer.
Of the new models the only one she felt comfortable in was the XB12Scg. I'm not too crazy about putting her on a 1200 though. You know a new bike for her really means a new one for me!
She's always wanted a HD cruiser, but she wants to be a Bueller.

Yo Ras..

Don't stress it.. My Wife; BumbleBuell (on the rare occasions she get on the BadWeb), has a Blast (yes, it's yellow, hence the nickname) and a 1200 Sporty. Yes, it took a while to be able to afford all the bikes in our family, but sometimes, you just gotta do, what you just gotta do..

YOU NEED to post some shots from Daytona, (I am so jealous).. Just be sure to warn us if they are NSFW as I (like a bunch of folks) check this site from the job and appreciate such warnings..

That should put us at Beefy's a little after 11. Any takers?

Be back in the area next Friday.

It was good, not as many people as we hoped but Pete did a great job setting the thing up and the Burgers are HUGE.

I think the weather here was so good yesterday that people went riding all day instead.

Heard of a coupole of accidents up on US211 in Sperryville.

Looking forward to your pics/reports!

Yeah, but it was a nice place and a good time was had watching the goings on.. Just wish they had spent a little more time looking at the rest of the race. I think the powers that be at NASCAR(uh, speed) channel are a little too fixated on simply the 'first place machine'. There was a lot of great moments and great racing going on and they (IMHO) probably missed a good chunk of it.

The high drama of 'The Pit Stop' especially when McWilliams' bike dropped off the stand! Duhamels' crash and subsequent high finish! The passing and fighting that goes on in the lower positions. Hey, I'm not complaining that they carried the race. I'd just like to see more coverage of ALL the racing. I mean, unlike a sprint, they have time to show more then just the front two bikes.

Looking for 2 Buellers I saw on Sunday near Bartholows Road in Mt. Airy. Looked like 2 XBS's. I was on the blue XBR going the other way, tried to turn around but you guys were gone. Anyone else closer to the Gaithersburg area?

You talking about meeting at the dealer or some place else? We could make it a ride TO the dealer.. from somewhere else.. OR we go from the dealer to.. well.. TBD hehehehe.. Ras, we'll have to hash out a flight plan..

Blublak,

You're the man with the routes, but I can work on something between now and then if you don't feel like it. It looks like it may be a bit "nipple" on Saturday but it should be dry. I was thinking about doing two 50-75 mi legs with a refueling stop in between. We can meet either @ Battley HD or Frederick HD and head out from there.

Right now it looks like rain Fri morning (right as my train arrives from FL-figures) Sunny and low to mid-forties Saturday.
