Apex: Sorry to hear ya dropped it! I'll teach you how to save the bike by allowing your body to absorb all the energy from the drop if you like!

As far as the BBQ...dang straight it is still on! We had something like 60 people here last night! There were Buell's all over the front lawn! It was truly the most amazing recovery gift I could have asked for, and tonight promises to be even bigger! Cage or bike, just get here! It was awesome seeing everyone getting to meet each other. I even got a call from Paulinoz! A get well call from across the pond. The whole night was just insane. We'll be seeing you all here tonight hopefully.

I'm not sure the Buells are competitive yet. They looked pretty good on the lap times in qualifying but with that many top ranked riders on faster bikes, they had a tough row to hoe.

I'll bet they were the best sounding bikes on the track. Nothing as irritating and the nitter nitter of four tiny little cylinders. :>;)

Btw, it was 87 degrees and partly cloudy.

I got the kids (son and daughter, tomorrow is my
daughter's 15 birthday and wife wanted her out of the
house so she could decorate) up at 6:30 and we left
for the track around 7:10. Jim called me around 8 and
we kept in contact while we drove to the track. We met
up around 8:30.

There were about 8 Buells among the hundreds parked
in front of the Cracker Barrel, we parked in back and
started a cell phone search. Jim played a good "can
you see me now" : ) The Brag group set up a parking
area just for the Buells, she claimed they were
expecting 100 bikes, but since no one really knew
where it was, we just stumbled on it, because we
parked next to the signs. There were maybe 20 Buells
there when we came out after the race.

We went into the race track around 9:30 and watched
2-30 minute practice sessions and a 15 lap race which
ended about noon. I was sitting with about half the
group outside the first turn, which was a great view
of the complete course, but in the sun.

After the first race, we walked around outside looking
for the Buell Display/demo Ride area. Finally found it
near the 3rd corner of the car track, way way way out
of the way. They had about a dozen demo bikes and 1 of
the race bikes on display, but nothing else, nothing
for sale or give away. No Brag area, the only way to
get a t-shirt was to sign up for a credit card : (
They said their display was in a convention center on
the beach.

We walked back around to the grandstands, got lunch
and then met up with Jim. We watched the 200 from the
shady center track area. You could see all but one
small section of the track, but you were further away
from the twisties. It wasn't as good a view for the
race, but did I mention it was in the shade and I was
looking like a lobster about now : )

Overall, my first bike race. I enjoyed the races,
would have enjoyed it more if I didn't have 2 kids
that wouldn't stop talking. I finally put in the
earplugs the HD sales girl gave us and I guess they
figured I couldn't hear them anymore, so they shut up.

I was amazed to see the bikes flip / wreck and the
drivers would just walk away or even hop back on like
nothing happened.

I wasn't as long as a NASCAR race, but it was loud,
not loud enough I couldn't hear my kids.

Donald wanted to wear his riding pants, he enjoyed the
day, but he kept having to take off his pants cause it
was so hot, did I say it was 87?

Overall, we had a nice time, the kids liked the junk
food and the bikes and the planes.

I guess we saw a few thousand bikes or all shapes and
sizes. I didn't see any topless or naked women, but
did see some girls washing bikes in bikinis on the way
home just outside Deland on 92.

Nick and Sammie, again a HUGE THANK YOU for your hospitality.

For those that didn't get to go. I'm heading back home tomorrow and spending the night here in Ocala. I will be working on my photo's and I'll get them posted to share with you all. I GOT Pitt photo's AND, Pitt video's. : ) I'll try to get the video's to Blake to post for you.

I posted in another section about the Bikes. I don't care what anyone says, from what I saw, those bikes are extremely competitive. Yes they have a small flaw that can and will be fixed. Hopefully when M1Combat gets back he'll post what he saw in his observations of McWilliams riding and some of the cool things he saw McWilliams do. : )

Charlieboy, Your shirt is signed and I will drop it off with FedEx on Tuesday. : ) You had better frame it and DON'T WASH it. : )

I was in the pitts:

and I had someone come up to me and ask If I was one of the racers. Of course I didn't think to pull his leg and told him no. Blake had someone hook me up with a pitt pass and come to find out later from Brankin and Don that all I really needed was to just walk down there wearing my shirt and they would have let me in. : )

thanks nick and sammie for the hospitality! i had a great time friday and saturday night. really fun to meet new friends and see old friends again at nick and sammie's house, and the yard FULL of buells!

races were GREAT. i was in the pits and tower for part of both weekends for the CCS/ASRA and AMA races. buell racers did pretty well both weekends - there are obviously bugs to work out to get more bikes to run and finish well, but the BUZZ that is going around the racing scene about buell is priceless and good for everyone.

flew back to milwaukee today after checking out the orlando museum "art of the motorcycle" exhibit. something not to be missed if you're in the area.

D, sitting at home looking at 40 degree thunderstorm turning to snow tomorrow missing Daytona SUNSHINE.

The Kansas City crew made it back safely...but not without some drama. Half way into Missouri we got stuck in a tornado that blew an 18 wheeler across I-70 and blocked both west bound lanes for over two hours. Pics to be posted soon...

First off I have to say all you guys ROCK! I can't say enough thanks to all of you for the morale boost over the weekend. You have all been an active part of my recovery. Erik, you're the best! It was awesome of you to take the time to drop by and spend some time with us. I promise next year that I will be standing when I shake yoour hand!

I am glad to hear that you are all making it home safe. I can't say enough about the whole crowd. I can't find words to express the thanks for all the new "friends" that I have made over this past weekend. Friends from all over the world! It goes without saying that Sammie and I can't wait to see you all next year!

Thanks again brothers... (and a couple of sisters!)

Erik, the man him self, stopped by?
How cool is that?
Me thinks that would NEVER have happened with Mr Honda.....
There is a reason we all have a passion for these bikes.

>>>There is a reason we all have a passion for these bikes.

That's an accurate statement.

Erik has dreamed of returning passion to the motorcycle racing at Daytona. To that end, he stood atop a podium in the eyes of race officials and fans as the sun set Saturday.

When was the last time you saw any marque evoke so much enthusiasm and interest that the owners of other brands got off their bikes, beat feet to Badweb and spent 4 days discussing BUELL RACING.

Buell won much more at Daytona than you'd know if you were so myopic as to simply watch the circling motorcycles. Erik wanted to share the moment with Buell owners.

One, perhaps, of the most exciting things I've seen in the last 20 years.
