Nb Mitch, Sorry to disappoint, but the test rides are on the local roads. They usually pick a sporty route though. I4 should be passable at that hour. Daytona should be semi quiet that early. Get to the demo area as soon as they are open and sign up for the hard to get bikes first. Some brands will fill up early. Have a ball! SteveH | ||

Gads. . . a big THANKS to Jim Corso for putting in jeopardy what, up until this point, was a fairly sounds marriage, by telling me . . "buy a cheap lens and you'll always regret it". Bear in mind I work in the middle of NIKON WORLD. I'm headed to Daytona with some sorta thing that looks about 3' long, has a silent wave motor and focus in 2 nanoseconds. Just shot this out the living room window. I hope Dave Gess knows how to use this!  | ||

For those of you interested in test riding bikes at Daytona - I do it every year, or try to. This late in the week, it becomes very difficult to snag a ride. You may have to sign up for a ride the next day. Some manufacturers allow it, others don't. At Biketoberfest I got lucky and walked right up to the Buell tent and was test riding an XB12R within the half-hour. Now, the crowds are about 4 times larger during Bike Week, so don't expect such good luck. And you must have a DOT helmet, a pair of gloves, eye protection and a cycle-endorsed driver's license. I can't recall if you needed to cover your arms with a long-sleeve shirt or jacket, but to be sure you might want to bring one along. I also can't remember if they required proof of insurance. The rides take place along the streets of Daytona, and last from 15-20 minutes. Anyway, good luck to you all. I'm getting ready to depart to Daytona. Ride safe, and I'll be seeing some of you at Nick's BBQ and the race track! | ||

Crusty and I watched the qualifying session yesterday. That was great! We made in to 8th at least. Miquel found something in that Honda on the last two laps of qualifying that was just insane. nick, sorry i couldn't make it tonight i was all set to head out after work...had to stay a little late but i thought no biggie.....well stopped for some smokes and i guess i didn't get my stand all the way down and bam over i go....first time that crap has ever happened....broke the shifter off, big gouge in my new paint and tore my seat.....i was like wtf.....so i guess i'm cagin it to the race tomorrow....is the after race bbq still on???? sorry i missed out i really wanted to see everybody...btw give elwood a kiss for me | ||
