Feedback from tonight...

I wish I could find an exhaust system that throws out the numbers of the Pro Series Race Exhaust that does not entail the upkeep of the Pro Series Race Exhaust. Two freakin' hours to repack a freaking muffler is akin to a 37 minute (race) tire change.

At least I will have a 'quiet' bike for Daytona (even though I can seem to make Jerseyguys freakin' list...).

Tomorrow I will come home early in order to get the entire intake tract and exhaust system on and get the S2 back into running condition. I will make the party on Friday night and damnit I will enjoy myself. Saturday I will get the S2 inspected, pick up oil and change oil (after the 100+ mile trip to get oil) and will commence to begin the 'swapping of the trannies' (and I ain't referring to transvestites here, folks). By the end of the weekend the only thing remaining should be the glass work needed to one of the bag bodies and to pack for Daytona Beach Bike Week(end).

Sportymark,
The advantage of the XB rocker box covers is mainly to eliminate one potential leak path by only having 2 parts to the rocker boxes. Another side benefit is a better breather system by having the PCV valves in the top covers and not needing breathers in the heads - although as I found out when I removed the breather block off bolts securing my carb support bracket (ya got one of them on your M2, Carlos? ;) ), a fair amount of oil still collects where the breathers in the heads would normally be. I'm not sure if they are all this way, but my rear XB top cover is a sand cast part (and didn't polish up too well), while the front is a die cast part (and polished up like the rest of the standard XL rocker box components). Something that may be a consideration to some contemplating such an update.

Yes, I've had a couple of Icehouses - just doing my best to keep Andy employed - and you know I will do a damn good job of that later tomorrow night,

How much do the XB rocker boxes Run? you think I could tap them for a fitting? and run an inline PCV? as it is now i run a Catch can and AN fittings, i get a fair amount of water and condensation out of the catch can petcock. i do not mind the cast finish as I would probabally get them powdered in Satan black anyway...

SHE'S A RUNNER!

Boy, does the valvetrain ever make a rucus until the lifters bleed down when you just get done putting the top end on back on and start it for the first time. Tomorrow will be the shakedown run to get it inspected and get oil for the oil change. Oil change, tranny swap and glassin' the bags away from bein' ready. All this and I get an E-mail from H-D today saying they are having something special for VRSC owners (before we will even be arriving in Daytona)...

Mark,

I know of someone who just drilled out there stock Sporty rocker box top cover in order to put the grommet in for the PCV. Buellish from the Atlanta area did it on his S2-T. You'd still need some height for the PCV. As for an inline PCV, I can't say yeah or nay.

Now it's off to the party for some Icehouse!

(ya got one of them on your M2, Carlos? )

I find them purely optional. I prefer to keep mine off as a weight savings.

I had breather bolts on the M2. I know because Dave and Brankin discovered they were about to fall off the bike.

Mark,

I had a brainfart, and yes it was before I started drinking. The XB rocker box tops eliminate the Sporty style top and middle covers, so your space limitations, may not actually be limitations. Since I don't have a Sportster handy I can't say for sure...

What does it mean when a chick brings Icehouse for you? Furthermore, what does it mean when she is definitely out of your league and brings Icehouse for you?

Confused - but riding the Buell tomorrow - er later today,

Yeah the one piece top box would be too tall to get out between the frame and the rocker, hence the reason that the sporty has a 3 piece rocker box, so you could remove it in sections cause of tight clearences..

It's nice to see that every now and then H-D still has to kick styling aside and make form follow function.

Well, just because you think she is out of your league, doesn't mean she agrees.

It means you have been at the bar too long!

Nobody is out of your league, remember you ride a BUELL!

This is about the point that I realize I'm riding to Daytona on Friday. Now I'm getting scared. No more weekends between now and then.

Jim, Your riding a Uly. No problem.

1313 - It means its your lucky night. Remember the old saying, "Go to bed with a ten and wake up with a two!" Just reverse it. LOL

I have throughly tested the three bags on the Uly and seem ready for the ride. With all three bags, the bike will run comfortably all the way to 100mph sustained, and at 70mph its cruising comfortably. I'm pumped and ready to go!!!

Jim,

You'll be fine -- enjoy the ride/adventure (I'm so freaking jealous of ya'll FLATLANDERS.)

I'll see you on Saturday at the Buell Demo trailer. You have my mobile # but I lost yours during a recent Treo crash -- please send prior to departure.

OK, real quick, we have so much to do as it is GKTW.org 20th anniversary and we are doing so much. Including a story in the F-V Independent. Anyway weathers beautiful here. Seen only 2 Buells. Did catch one little snippet as my son flipped through the channels last night. He flipped to the speed channel and the first words out of Dave Despains mouth on Wind Tunnel was "I think the biggest news at the Daytona 200 is the New Buell XBRR" end of show.

Now I am trying to figure out what I can sell on wednesday to make the trip. Larry.

If you're ever cruising down a lonely road at about 30 mph and the thought enters your mind "I wonder what would happen if I whacked open the throttle really hard," rests assured that it will be a memorable experience.

Anyone got any good tips for not getting sunburn on the back of your neck when riding, other than wearing sunscreen?

Mike - I used to know. I need to search the messages and work forward using Carlos'es times.

Carlos proposed meeting us at the hw-13 exit on I-95. Thats a few miles north of lumberton. Is that good for you, or would you prefer somewhere else? I don't think it really matters to Carlos nor me, but I don't want you to have to backtrack up 95.

I'm going to scan posts now

Larry, I understand!!

Jim, No I just can't seem to get Kristi off the bike! She better quit that speeding.

It will take us from the East a little more than 2-1/2 hours to get to Lumberton from Kinston, so for Brankin and I to make it by 9am, we will have to leave the house before the sun comes up.

From Lumberton we are within 460 miles of Daytona so hopefully we will be in Daytona before it gets dark. I am ready!!!
