Hello: I am new to this group and have had my Harley Low Rider for less than two months but I am having a great time. I just finished my first beginner level track day at Pocono with some Buell friends and learned alot (including: if your foot pegs rub in a turn - lift your feet alittle and the pegs will fold up for more clearance :-)) I am wondering if anyone had done the beginner class at Summit Point, WV and if a cruiser could pass tech there (you know the mirrors do not come off, etc.) and if a cruiser would be tolerated (until I can get my hands on a Buell for next year). Thanks for your comments.

Welcome to the world on two wheels!

You can check with www.nesba.com, they run most of the track days at summit point. they are geared towards sport bikes, but I'm sure that for the beginner class they might relax the rules a little.

A group of us signed up for the free "intro" track day for Saturday, Oct 19 at Summit Point.

The only hangup is that it's at the new "Shenandoah" circuit and I don't know if it will be ready by then.

Here's what our own Thad Grogan (he's on the Blue S3) wrote following the ride.

It's too good to keep to ourselves in DCBRAG, so I'll share it here:

A day to remember...

This was to be the first day in a long time that got to see the sun rise in the early morning sky. Even though I didn't get much sleep
during the previous night, it was probably because of what the next day had in store. The sun rose to a beautiful sky that was clean and clear and yet cool. A bit of excitement in the air, before I even started my Buell up, as I heard a Harley Davidson motorcycle ride down the street in the distance. I stood there and wondered, "would they too be spending the morning as I would?". A short while later, I was ready to go and rolled the cycle out, only the second time to ride in over a month, only because of my recent surgery. I fired the Buell up, strapped my helmet on, as well as my gloves and I was ready to go. The air was still cool and the day was looking to be perfect.... though in that perfection it will be reminded by thoughts of the past.

The ride from home to the dealership was a ride that I needed to once again get use to. It was such a pleasure to see the friends and other
Buell riders, it had been a long time. After renewing old friendships with warm hellos it was nearing 9:30am, time to start the ride.
Surrounded around me were people from all walks of life, all races and all ages. Though with all of these differences we were all there for one
reason. This ride would be my first of it's kind. I've never ridden on a police escorted journey. Once it was 9:30am, the cycles started
heading out, towards the beltway. After another 10 minutes or so it was our rows turn to head out, I'd say we were in the last 3/4 of the line or so, maybe the middle. Heading down the road, thru the first stoplight intersection I was in awe that we were going thru on a red signal. This
feeling came time and time again thru the day as I saw traffic being stopped, by police, to let us all thru.

An amazing sight came to me when we reached the beltway, as traffic had been stopped for all of the motorcycles to enter. People standing
outside of their cars, looking to see what it was all because of, and even some waving. While heading around the beltway, seeing all the
motorcycles ahead of me and the open highway I couldn't help but to get choked up. Not over the fumes in the air but why we were all there. Not
on that we were there, but that all of the people helping out and that they would do something so major, in my mind to hold back traffic on a
major highway. This memorial ride was special though, and impacted may of our lives, for those of us who have lived in this area, and those who
may of been more directly affect by the happenings of almost 1 year ago.

Around the beltway time and time again I was reminded that I am in America and there is a pride of being able to say that I am an American.
My gradated went out to those firemen and police that we passed by many times around the beltway. As we finished up our journey by passing by
the Pentagon, to see that in less than a year it was rebuilt, a project that was suppose to take more than 3 years to finish. Many lives were
impacted at this site as well and many people came together to heal and repair the damage.

Many thoughts came to mind, the days after this ride. I knew that this next week would be filled with many more thoughts. I was very impressed
by the final words that were read, at the end of the motorcycle event, from our President George W. Bush. I was also greatly thankful for the
way that our President ended his letter, being thankful unto God and reminding us to be trustful to God. I am certain that if anything were to happen in the next year that this country, and all Americans would once again unite and stand together. There is a great need to be united
and stand together for what is right, is that one thought that came to mind time and time again thru the day. I hope that each one of you was
able to experience the day in some special way and have thoughts of thankfulness. May each one of you that reads this think about this week
and be reminded about our mortality, and what is most important in this life and after that.

Randy

This is Randy winner of the "Slay the Dragon" Sweepstakes, after returning from his trip to Deals Gap where he got to ride with Erik Buell and Tripp Nobles!

BTW he did not ride this bike down there, he used a different one.

Check Buell.com for a little writeup about Randy.

More details later....

Hey Stan,

Found a couple maps, but no exit numbers:
http://www.autocrossers.org/map_fredrck.html
http://www.jwtodd.com/mwcscc-ax/frederick.html

Would like to go, just keeping an eye on the sky, 'cause you can't tell from looking at the weather sites at:

Stan,

OK, If you want to come up though the beltway, I'm thinking of meeting at the Georgetown Pike (193) exit. Come up the ramp and look for the Buell(s). Now then, what time would be good? Set a time and we'll rally the troops.
