Hey Don...I'll also be attending the training thing in Milwaukee. Because of work conflicts, I won't be able to get there until Saturday morning. I'll be staying on Saturday night instead of driving back to Lake Geneva (not to mention all the "good ideas" seem to happen after a few cocktails). See ya there! Mennis | ||

Dana and Bill, the breather set up on my bike I made myself. There is no catch can, I never had a problem with puking. The bracket is made from a piece of aluminum angle from Home Cheapo and the filters are from drag specialties. I drilled and tapped a 1/4 X 20 hole in the bracket and filters and secured them from the bottom. The swivel banjo bolts also are from drag specialties. The whole thing cost about $30. Don, Stacey and i will not be able to make paintball on the 28th, as we are making a tour of the upper midwest over the holidays. I'm currently near death with some damn flue (sp?) bug i can't shake. Very dizzy, delirious, and an end-less repeat chorus of annoying '80s songs. a doo doo doo, a da da da, thats all i want to say to you..... (c'mon bomber, sing it....i know you want to). Time for my meds... hope everyone had a good thanksgiving. Congradulations Dyna on the new addition to the family! OFW P.S. - anyone looking for tires see me first! I have a ton of race take off Pirelli dragon Corsa's. They are all 25%-50% used up on the edges, but nearly new down the center. They are all mediums or medium-soft but should go 3000 street miles no problem. all were made last year, so they are not dried up by any means. Would also be great for drag racing or track days. All are 120 fronts and 180 or 190 rears. the 180 will fit the PM buell wheels no problem, fit the 5.5" cast rims well. $50 a set | ||

ref: breathers... FYI - the XB9 rocker covers are a bolt on to the X1/M2 rocker box and elimnate that spacer and additional sealing joint as well. They also use a new umbrella style breather out of the top of the valve cover which turns out is a very effective breather system. Definately a nice upgrade if your so inclined. WFO | ||

Racerx1... Can you refer me to a source of, or provide more, info on the XB9 rocker covers on the X1? I found the thread on using the Blast covers in the Knowledge Vault but missed anything on the use of the XB9 covers. Bomber... Agreed that all don't, but for some reason mine does. The mods you saw on my bike are barfing on the rear wheel and I need to upgrade the concept and still use the existing (gutted) air box. Have researched the entire Knowledge Vault on the subject and am more confused than ever. For every positive, there a are multiple negatives. Wish the subject (and others) would be prefaced with a few alternative "Successful Procedures" for reducing/eliminating the effect. However, considering the mods are not EPA approved, I understand (legally) why this cannot be done. | ||

Nevco1 The Blast covers are the same as the XB9 covers, other than the rear cylinder cover is a mirror image of the front cover. The Blast cover is identical to a front cylinder XB cover. If you use Blast covers, the breather will be in the rear corner of each head. If you use the XB9 covers, the breathers will both end up on the intake side of each head, wich is a little easier to plumb and the preferred placement as its the highest point on the cylinder assembly. The breathers themselves are one way umbrella valves designed to draw a slight vacuum in the crankcase, and work very well. The cool thing is you can route your breather line anywhere you want, since its now just a 3/8" rubber line. On my racebike, i originally had the breathers open to atmosphere sticking out of the valve cover, never got a drop of oil. However, the tech inspector didn't like that, so I copied the Hal's pro thunder bike and ran two individual lines to a tupperwear container in the tail section. Not the sexiest thing in the world, but easy to clean/inspect.... Regards, WFO | ||

Oh yea, one other thing. I would suggest you always attempt to make the breather valve the lowest point in the system if possible. Sometimes not always possible, but usually a lot easier with the XB style breather if your venting to atmosphere.... | ||
