The more we have commit to homecoming the cheaper the lodging per person. It looks like a sunrise departure for the factory in East Troy on Fri June 2. Stay Fri, Sat and Sun then blast back home Monday morning. I was hoping to ride up this year since I trailered the last 2 years. I think 4 people in the room would be optimal since we just shower and catch a few ZZZ's in it. That would really be our biggest expense. I'm willing to put it on my credit card if you and someone else commits and pays up front. I just don't want to get stuck with the check if someone backs out.

Nope, still have it. If I don't move it by spring, I may just keep it. Really would like to move it though.

Is the meeting this Saturday? I thought it was the second Sat of the month.

Hey Ed, did you get your M2 back together?

sorry, i jumped the gun on the meeting...my mind is too full right now to use it well. at the end of the week, everyone where i work is going to move, so things have been hectic and confusing. anyway, yes, i have gotten both bikes running. the black one is stronger than my red one, but i think i'll keep the original with the plastics swapped out, and sell the parts bike with the distressed pieces. the things about the bike that i don't really care about add value to it for someone else, plus mine is in overall better cosmetic condition.

I'm also interested in that track day in Joliet.

Guys, I forgot. Did we change the day for the meeting? Looking at the calendar, the meeting will conflict with IMS in Chicago.

JUST SOME IDEAS!

http://www.vicvill.com/rates.html
At this place for 3 nights:
3 people= $170 each
4 people= $135 each
5 people= $114 each

TENT CAMPING @ Road America
Tent camping is available in a Family Area and an Alternate Area. A
maximum of six (6) people are allowed per site. Everyone staying on the
grounds must possess a weekend ticket. Bathroom and shower facilities are
available in the Carousel for all campers to use.
The Family Area is located inside the Carousel, turns 8 and 9. Spaces are
assigned in advance and are approximately 20’ x 40’ in size. Family area
sites need at least one adult per site.
The Alternate Area is located
inside the track near turn 2.
Campers must be 18 or older.
Spaces are first-come, first-serve.

$75 per campsite with a maximum of 6 people per site= VERY FREAKIN' CHEAP!

If some of you are planning are towing bikes, this is a very viable option. If we went this route, I would be willing to help a little with your gas if someone hauled a tent, sleeping bag etc for me.

Chad,

The rates at that place a tad pricy. Certainly there has to be someplace cheaper not far away. There is a Motel right there in East Troy, a Comfort Inn or something like that. The camping at the track sounds good to me for the weekend.

We are behind the 8 ball with planning the trip to IMS. Who's going?

tent camping at road america carousel NOT SUCH A GREAT IDEA. small marked spaces at the bottom of massive runoff in case of very likely rain. it can really ruin your weekend. camping not too far from track at westward ho campgrounds has better facilities, affordable, probably easier to sleep, can have campfires, etc. hotel a great idea because you can actually get some rest. probably worth the money. there are definitely some lower priced flops not too far from the track.

Alex,

Normally our meetings are on the second saturday of the month, at noon. The location is Buell of Bloomington. It may change this month however, since the International Motorcycle Show is the same weekend and several of us are going.

Buell_892, Want's your ride? I live in Columbus also and make the Brag meetings when I can. I work most Saturdays, so getting over there in time for the meeting is not usually an option.
I have an Orange and Volcano gray 2002 M2 and a Yellow 2003 XB9S. PM me sometime if you want to hook up.

Greetings All, We have decided to postpone the Thunder Club meeting scheduled for this coming Sat., Feb. 11th. It seems most everyone, including myself, will be at the IMS in Chicago. We can completely cancel for this month or meet the following Sat, Feb 19th. The other weekend date this month is out as we have the Motorcycle/ATV Expo at the fairgrounds at the end of the month.
You decide! Hope to see everyone in Chicago next weekend.
Anyone going early to bike week may join us at Gainsville, March 4-5, for the AHDRA opening round. Jeff and I will be competing in hopes of getting of to a good start to the drag racing season. If anyone can make it, it would be a boost to have support from Thunder Club members.
Additionally, I want to extend a "Welcome" invitation to Alex to join us in the Thunder Club. Watch here for current information on meetings.
Thank you

Anyone interested in this idea for Homecoming Lodging??? Any other ideas are welcome!

Host hotel will be the Country Inn & Suites in Appleton. They are offer the following rooms and rates:

2 Queen Beds: $83
King Suite (king bed with sleeper sofa): $93

The hotel is located about 2 miles from Dave's dealership. It's also in the the heart of Appleton's shopping district. That means tons of restaurants and bars. Oh yeah...and for Spidey...there's a nudie bar less than 1 mile away: D.

To make reservations, you need to contact the hotel directly. The phone number is 920-830-3240. To get the rate, as for the Buell Homecoming rooms.

I'll be contacting Blake to post this information as a permenant header on this page.

Lastly....there are dinner arrangements in the works. There may be something on both Friday and Saturday. More info to follow.

Like Dana said earlier....this WILL be a great time!

how about leaving around 6:00 from kyle'e exit on 465? that will give us time to drive up and do breakfast before going into the show(9:00). the food at the rosemont center leaves a lot to be desired. earlier arrival means smaller crowd........

Ed, that will be fine with me. I'm just excited about going.

When is the Indianapolis Dealer show? Is it the weekend of the 18th or the 25th?

Chad, I hate to be the one that rains on the parade every time, but isnt Appleton a bit far away from East Troy? Where is Road America?

The only thing going on in E Troy is Fri at the factory. We'll get the plant tour and lunch and then head north. There is no reason to spend the night there. Appleton is 45 miles NNW of the track.

Here are some tidbits. Check this link!
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/169715.html?1139382225

We are working with Dave to get something going Friday evening at his dealership. Then Saturday a dinner possibly. The thought does cross are minds that some may want to hit the Elkhart Lake area resort spot just a mile from the track that many of the race teams stay and many going on's outside the Court Yards of the three Hotels that are next door to one another....Very Awesome and Tons of Bikes!!!Some feed back from you BadWebbers would be great.

Ok this is awesome. I just got off the phone with Brain Nallin of Revolution Performance about maybe a group breaking away Saturday for a tour of his plant... all 25,000 sq.ft. of it. Everything from the dyno,powdercoating,etc,etc,etc,. You get the picture. Brain will be are host and I just need to nail down a time with him. Revolution is within 15 minutes of Road America so we can break away from the races for an hour or so and see what they do soooo well and Meet the man that makes these bike do what we dream about. Can't pass this up. Stay tuned... like I said we'll make this very memorable!!!}}
