We had a good meeting tonight thanks to everybody:
Jim Armstrong makes it all loud and clear with his formidable array of audio and visual equipment. It would be shouting and brain theatre without him.
Jack Van Vost set the place up and snapped all the photos. I can't wait to see them.
Big Bad Jim Higgins and his Monster S2, which I stupidaly called an S1! AARRghh! Well Jim is a one off....and a diligent pursuer of his passion...the world's fastest Buell. I hope he makes it more than any other. You cannot meet a nicer more engaging personality than Jim. And I am definitely getting some T-shirts.
Terry Parsley told us everything we wanted to know about the new XBRR. My mind was swimming, but it was like drowning in beer. When I want work done on my X1, I can tell you where it's going...the House of Terry.
Adam Ward from SFUrban Moto, told us all about SFUM a bi weekly motor rag. This guys wrenched for Ciccotto! He was a blast. Do come again!
Stan Shepherd dropped in of Buell Dragster fame. We will get him back and spotlight his efforts...WOW! Very intersting tales of explosive motion and exploding engines. He had the pictures to prove it and he is a contender.
Pete and Re-Pete Krunich, the hill climbers. Great dad and son team, part of our family.
And a host of others...severl first timers..Woody, Jeff, Stan...others as well.

Terry hooked me up with the 600cc LSR exhaust pipe - I have evil plans for that puppy! My GF won a HD Motorcycle phone with Voroom sounds - think its a Dyna - in Black with luggage, I left Eric of SFMC - the prez - deep in talk with with Terry P. about the Blast racer he's building - Scott, John, Eric and I road in from SF and got there as the meeting had just started, the first speaker done and Terry starting in on the RR - totally cool! Next - time to throw Reg some business - lol -

Great job on the microphone tonight Jon. Tonight was special. A lot of new people, new enthusiasm, new Buell. As I was telling Terry, I think this is going to be a great year ahead of us.
We missed having Woz and Rex there, but came through it pretty well, all and all.

I realized last night that I had forgotten to thank the donor's of the door prizes! I feel bad about that. My belated thanks to whoever donated that stuff.

SFMC was there in Force!
Yes they are! All bikes are welcome there, as are guests, they get folks from all over the world dropping by to see the second oldest club in America, and some old bikes hanging from the ceiling, and old pics and trophys surrounding the place. Each wed. a wild cross section of bikes pulls up to the club house - Aeramachi's, Indians, HD's, Triumph's, SV's, KLR's, etc. the list is ever changing - lol. Just so happens - the SFMC President Erik - has had an X1 twice now (and is in the beginning stages of building a custom racing Blast), John just chain converted his S3, and Scott and I have been supporters for a while - they have a great schedule of on and off road rides, a ton of socials - there are a good number of couples and women there as well - so its not just a guy thing - its folks who really like to ride! The list of things they do is endless - a really great organization that SF is graced with having! Hell - they're just fun! - lol - and so far all the folks there have been golden - it really impresses me - If I weren't so onery - lol - anyway they are entertaining as well - watching Roberts Rules Of Parlimentary Proceedure in action by bikers is priceless!

American SportBike Night announces our annual Daytona 200 RaceWatch gathering on Saturday, March 11, at the East Bay’s premier sports bar – Ricky’s.
Ricky's is an outstanding sports bar, where many large-screen TVs will present complete AMA racing coverage, beginning 8am with live Superbike race; continuing 9:30am with tape of Thursday’s Flat Track event; and concluding with 10:30am live 65th running of the Daytona 200 F/X race.
American SportBike Night, founded in late 1998 by a trio of committed Buell riders, is a very informal assortment of Northern California Buell and Sportbike enthusiasts [all makes/models are represented] who get together monthly to swap stories, exchange tech-tips, find out what is new in racing and streetbike technology, and engage overall in family-friendly behavior.
American Sport Bike Night isn't a club. There are no membership dues or meeting fees - nothing to sign or fill-out. All riders and their guests are welcome.

American Sport Bike BBQ Plans
Past year BBQs have been quite successful, but we get too many San Diego/LA local customers only, and not enough northern CA folks. It's just too far for them to get down and back over the weekend. This year it's going to be a little different. Plans are still being developed, but they are something like this.
On the weekend of October 14-15 (possibly one week later, we're still working the details), we're going to turn Buellton, California into Buell Central. The schedule will go something like this:
Friday Afternoon/evening: Folks arrive from all over, check into hotels/campgrounds etc. We're working out lodging details now.
Saturday AM/early afternoon: Everyone heads on on local rides. We'll map out a long ride and a short ride. Some folks may want to do the short ride and visit the Solvang Motorcycle Museum, others will ride the lots of nice roads in the area. We'll get some of the local folks that know the roads to map something out. I've got a mad maps for the area, there looks to be some nice stuff.
Saturday-3PM: Everyone converges on a local park that we'll have an area reserved at, with a catered in BBQ and other refreshments. No beer here, but....
Saturday 5-6PM: Everyone goes back to the hotels, parks their bikes, walks to the Firestone Microbrewery (http://www.firestonebeer.com/) and we party into the night.
Sunday: Folks drive home the long way. There are so many cool roads going both North and south from here, people will be able to make a full day of twisty riding.
Details are forthcoming. We're trying for the earlier weekend, just have to get the logistics all figured out. If there are any major conflicts, we'll move it out one week.
If anyone has any suggestions, now would be the time to forward them to me since we're still early in the planning phases.
Please direct future discussions to the similar thread in the American Sport Bike sponsor area, I just cross posted here to make sure you guys in the bay area see it. |

We had a good meeting tonight. Jim Armstrong and I ran the meeting with Woz making an appearance finally as he has just came back from Salt Lake and was dead tired. Cool stuff to share with the Buell crowd from Terry Parsley of Vallejo Buell regarding the race efforts of Vallejo Buell and Warrs. This RR story is really interesting! We will try to put a link here to a Podcast of Terry's report.
Jim Armstrong did a fantastic job with audio visual stuff. He is a tireless Buell volunteer every month, and deserves a lot of thanks for his dedication.
More info when I'm not dead tired. Jim, any pictures? |
