Hey guys,
Glad all is well and everyone had a safe holiday season! The weather here has been nice enough to get the bike out on a few occassions in the past week. Nothing spectacular but still riding nonetheless.
Charlie,
Are you officially moved?
Did you go to Baton Rouge for business or pleasure? Watch them Dillos' down that way since they carry Leprosy.

Jason,
I climbed up to the rock we talked about on Friday and shot my limit of bushytails. That place is a freakin' mecca of squirrel activity. I ended up seeing no less than 30 in that one spot! It is very dense on the backside but with a little patience they come in eventually. Season closes Jan. 31st so hurry back home! I am going on a nighttime fox hunt Thursday. Hopefully I'll even get one of the resident Coyotes or Bobcats to come into range.
Glad your dad got a bike. Maybe now I will be able to keep up with someone in the pack!

Man, I have been in a state of awe all day. Just speechless. He asked me to ride it home for him and it REALLY made me miss my Lightning. I am feeling like I'll be able to share something pretty special with him now. I'm planning on being home by the end of this month so we can have another go at those rock vermin. Here's hoping those .17 HMR rounds find someplace warm and fuzzy to hide Thursday. NUTS

Fellas, I've been putting about 10 miles a day on my Dad's BMW. That thing is smooooth. Nuts especially likes the hydraulic clutch. I've got to look into ordering one from American Sport Bike. I walk into the garage everyday to the smell of that new rubber for the lightning only there isn't a bike to slap them on. I've got tentative plans to head up the 18th of this month. Don't know how long I'll be in town for but I'll have my brothers with me. If I decide to come back to Florida for another month I'll try to bring the bike so I have something for my Dad to chase me around on.
Jackie, there seems to be a colony of those Knight Anoles thriving inside my parents home. They eat all the nasty insects doncha know. My brothers are seriously jonesing for bikes. One wants the Hero Blue XB9SX right now. He'll have to move north before he can afford to survive the ride. It is mucho DANGEROUS down here for bikes but that will all change with Latitude. Happy Huntin. I'm trying to get my brother to bring his .44 lever action rifle so we can try some of that cowboy shootin at the range. NUTS

Glad to hear you are breaking her in gently! I am hoping your dad will want to keep his nice and shiny which will hopefully move you to wash that poor neglected machine of yours LOL.
Make sure you give me a holler when you get up here so we can work in a hunt.
On a side note, I just got the updated rules and regulations for the club and we are now limited to one guest at a time (not to mention the membership went up 50 bucks!) so it may not be worth your brothers' time lugging the rifle up here.

Is there another public range around? I wasn't aware the rules extended to the range and apologise if I was inviting myself somewhere. I do not in any way want to take advantage of those happy hunting grounds. My brother might be giving me a new unfired bow so we can put some early season deer on ice next season. And I saw a wild turkey today while walking my sister to the bus stop. I heard that thing gobble and not 50 yards from me in the horse pasture he stood. It has to be someones pet but he sure looks like a shooter with that 3" beard.I'll be bringing the new tires up so we can get the swap done, until then. Jason

Jason,
No offense taken! I would have been happy to bring him along since as you know I enjoy watching you Floridians hunt here in the mountains LOL! We can hit the range up in Blacksburg but it isn't much. There is a bunch of National Forest land up there though so if he gets tired of shooting we could plink some Squirrels for the pot.
Don't worry about the turkey, if you are back for good in the Spring I feel pretty good about getting you a bird. I don't recall another year where I have seen so many.
My Fox hunt was a freakin' blast. I think you would love it. I sat there in the dark for about 30 minutes with the call running and then did a sweep with the light. Sure enough there is a pair of eyes shining back at me. A bobcat was sitting on the rocks up where you took that shot at the Squirrel. I couldn't get a good shot and didn't want to just wound it so I let it go. I did manage to call in a feral cat but just couldn't bring myself to whack him. He got a free pass. Lots of strange animal sounds going on to. I was talking to a friend and he says they were probably Fox barking/whining and I should have waited longer. We have GOT to give it a try when you come up. Maybe we can Squirrel hunt until dusk and then make our stand for predators.
Be safe and see ya soon!

Jason,
I'm looking forward to your arrival. Wanna bust some Squirrel Friday afternoon and then try some Fox? Also I'm going to the gunshow Sunday if your interested.
I did get the seat. I haven't been on a long run to see how well it helps with fatigue but I can tell you I dislike the position it puts the rider in. It makes you sit right on the airbox cover when I prefer to sit further back. I guess it will help in cornering but it sure feels funky on straight roads.

Jackie, I'll have to see what I can swing with my guests schedule. Good thing it is so cold... within 10 minutes of being home yesterday I tried to crank the bike up only to have it fire once and then fail to even turn again. The oil pump will not run so the bike has no oil pressure and thus will not even turn over again. Slightly frustrating. The gun how sounds fun I'm sure my Bro's would like to tag along. Unless you would rather go hunting on Sunday.LOL NUTS

Is there a new handmade hunting knife in my future? We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Jackie, Up for a squirrelin on Monday a.m.? My siblings are busy but I'll be ready. Hopefully we can still meet you for the show tomorrow. I heard Charlie was trying to trade both Buells in for a Street Rod. Who knows, I wish him the best of luck in all his flatland-straightline ventures.
I just love these clipart smiley guys. NUTS

Jason,
Looks like it is a no go for tomorrow. With the freezing rain forecasted I believe it would be an exercise in futility.
Fear not though. It looks like much of this week will make good hunting weather.

It looks like the rain has stopped for now but there is another cell that should hit around 10am. We'll let this foul weather "tree" those vermin. When it clears and they want to feed we'll be on 'em. NUTS

Jackie, is tomorrow a "go"? My brothers found some nice rimfire rifles today but didn't purchase anything. Almost talked them into a .17mag Ruger lever action. That is a big round for a small critter unless it's out 300 yards. I think the 22 mag is a better round for squirrel and larger predators. I sure did like that lever action though. I had to talk him out of a Buell today as well. My Dad would strangle me if I let him get one without moving here first. Alright let me know about tomorrow . NUTS

Jason,
No dice tomorrow. The youngest daughter needs a trip to the Dr. since it looks like she may have strep throat. I am going to hit the indoor range tomorrow night to try and sight in if you want to go shoot some.
Hopefully Friday will work since the end of the season is almost here.
Thanks again for going along for the ride!

It is just too nice of a day not to be in the woods. No chance the little one has had a miraculous recovery. It is hard to have held all that machinery last night and not be able to put some to good use. Maybe I'll hit the Havens? NUTS

I hear ya! I am itching to go try this new gun out but am homebound until the wife gets off tonight. I plan on hitting the indoor range around 6:30. If you brought any pistols up you can shoot them as well as your 10/22.
Still waiting to hear back from R.D. about Saturday night.

I'll give you a call tomorrow to let ya' know.
