Revolution Performance offers their 1170cc 3-13/16" bore kit including case boring for $1,274.95. plus they provide stand alone engine test/tune. Have you looked into the Direct Link deal in lieu of a race ECM? Whatever you do, it sounds like fun. | ||

the 1200 kit is just something i'm throwing around....everything else is pretty concrete...the can..ecm..filter...LED light..stuff like that..i guess i'll see how she reacts to the filter/can/ecm first..plus ya i'll have to watch for the warranty and all that too. anybody have any other suggestions that'd be cool too | ||

Ya, I have ridden Sam's bike, but to say it is the fastest is a lie, yellow is by far the fastest.  Sam's bike is crasy, it took a good month to get the shit eatin grin off my face. | ||

Yeah Eric, I have ridden Sam's bike too. As much of a newbie I am that bike was...um...scary! You are talking some serious power and torque to the ground. At just 1/8 throttle it is already really going! I would start with the bare essentials, like the race kit, and then see how you like your bike. | ||

well i'd love to get on his sometime for 5-10mins if i'm lucky enough...i'm not really a newbie...been riding since 2002...just not buells...it was a ninja. but if he was nice enough to trade me bikes for 5 mins i'd love to see what his has...and then see if i need to tone my ideas down. i'll definitely begin with just the bare bones stuff like the race kit though. | ||

Eric, Have you considered a 1050 kit, some stage-2 type head porting and a high performance exhaust? No need to split the cases for the 1050 kit. That new Direct Link ECM reprogramming deal looks very promising. If I were looking for some improved street performance, that's where I'd be looking. It is still under development, but within a month or two I bet it will be ready for release. I guess what I'm saying is that I'd be disinclined to spend $600 on a race kit when I could invest that towards a DL and some bolt-on parts. The great thing about the XB9 is that the stock cams are well suited to significant power enhancement, to the tune of 100RWHP as they are the same cams that the XB12 bikes use. JMHO though. Some folks may not like it, but it is offered with the best of intentions. One other consideration is whether or not you want to remove and ship the engine only, or ship the entire motorcycle. I got the impression that you wanted to do much of the work yourself. Thus the Revolution Performance engine dyno would seem to provide a lot of value. Revolution Performance does not work on entire motorcycles though, they use the folks at Hals for that. That might get expensive, I'm not sure. Certainly doesn't hurt to shop around. Good luck with whatever approach you choose.  More power is hardly ever a bad thing. | ||

I agree with Blake, the 1050 kit is probably the best bang for you buck. Yes the cost of the kit isn't much less then the larger kits, but the installation is much easier = cheaper. | ||

Talk to Dave S about the direct link ECM. As far as the stage 2 headwork, you probably could just get the 1050 kit for $1195 first and use your stock heads. Then later get the stage 2 or 3 heads. | ||

Talk to American Sport Bike or DaveS about the direct link stuff. It isn't a new ECM, it is a tool that reprograms your existing ECM. Yes, it is better in that it can tune your ECM to work optimally with whatever configuration you have. The race ECM is mapped for the Buell race kit. Anything else will work non-optimally with it. Give the vendors a call and see what they recommend for a budget conscious progressive hot rodding plan for your XB9. If it were me, I'd be looking at a direct link along with a performance exhaust system first. Then from there I'd opt for the 1050 kit and stage two head/intake work and an expert dyno tuning session with the direct link tool. | ||

Today, I had a mission and I came up short. My wife was up in Seneca, KS (north central KS)visiting her grandmother and family. It's about 2.5 hours from KC so I thought it would be nice to sneak up there on my bike and join them for lunch as a surprise. She did not know I was coming. I put on ALL the gear I had to stay warm and left the house this morning a little before 10 am. The weather channel indicated a sunny 38 degrees. Certainly I can do this, I thought. After all, I was 3 layers deep! I had to take it a little easy from the get go since most of the roads were still damp from yesterdays rain. Heading north on 435 I figured I could cut up to K5 and then head north in Lansing. K5 was pretty sandy/damp so I took it real easy. On 435, unfortunately, I began to feel the CHILL. Great, I hadn't been gone 30 minutes and I am already getting cold. Going 70 mph in 38 degrees was much colder than I expected. I fought it and fought it until I got to Lansing were I filled up with gas. At this point I had to make the decision if I was going to make it another 2 hours at cruising speeds. My hands were numb and I could tell it was affecting my inputs to the motorcycle. I even had my big fat winter motorcycle gloves on! So I turned around and headed south with my tail somewhat between my legs. Mother nature had gotten the best of me. Despite the nice sunshine and clear day, the wind blast and low morning temps got the best of me. I really need to get some heated gear for trips like this as I wanted to show up in Seneca and surprise everyone. No such luck. | ||

Drake, there's nothin' worse than being cold as far as I'm concerned...You made it farther than I would have willingly.. We had some pretty cold and wet periods on our trip last year, but we didn't have a choice but to keep pressin' on... The Blackfoot boy's spent this weekend racing the go-garts at Sadlers...We need to take over the place one night every month for a Buell night out.... Larry | ||

News flash....... KCLW announces Sadlers Racing as new meeting place for their motorcycle riding group. Insiders with the group have said to watch out for Tim "he likes to get black flagged for taking out 12 yearolds". Larry, the skinny Jew is going to be forced to add 50 pounds to his cart. JJ has been dropping weight all year getting ready for the racing season. Duff missed today's races, sources said he didn't want to get out of bed. DTX - "electricity" is your friend. When it gets below 40-degrees, I use my Gerbings gloves, socks, and below 30 I use the jacket liner. The coldest I've been on my bike was 20-22 degrees. Today, I needed no electrics. I think it was 39 when I left the house - warmish weather. (I have a windshield, so YMMV.) | ||

Come on Drake, I made it to Wichita at night when it was just under 40 degrees. One pair of jeans, one pair of wind paints, two pairs of gloves (thanks Tim), one sweatshirt, two longsleeve shirts and one vetilated jacket (thanks Larry), and two pairs of socks in my Doc Martins. It was cold and I will not claim that I wasn't really pissed about the decision I made after the first 80 miles, but I stuck it out. | ||

Don't feel bad Drake. Hypothermia can alter your judgment and hamper your decision making ability.  Below 40, I wear a Fieldsheer Highlander suit, polypro neck tube and icon winter gloves. My feet just don't get cold on the bike so I wear my Danners like always. Below 30, I add a fleece pullover under the suit. I've ridden in as low as 25-degrees. Next year I will have heated grips and I may electrify the suit liner myself. | ||
