There's another bike show next weekend at American Royal. We went to that one last year and it was pretty good. Vendors had some great prices on gear and parts, and there was a kicka$$ trials bike stunt show that Tim almost got his nuts cracked by when the guy rolled a stoppie up to him.

Tripper,

I think everyone is ok with the name of this thread being changed to KCLW.

If you want you can make the change unless there are some that do not agree then we will need to talk some more.

I reckon 'KC Buell Movement' sounds a bit too fecal.

KCLW can stand for 'KC Least Washed' if anybody asks.

Mine is caked in mud at the moment and has an injured turn signal from being dumped in the dirt.

I think I'll be switching to street tires so I don't get tempted anymore.

I met a guy a couple months ago from a town south of Gardner who seemed interested in riding w/us. He was probably in his late 20's. He was picking up some old Harley parts at Alter Ego, so I don't know how much of a rider he is other than riding cruisers...

Eric,
There is nothing wrong with running a stock bike, but let us tell you the best way to unleash the inner beast in these things is to open up that exhaust!

It's a totally different experience with a good growl. I think all the aftermarket pipes sound good on a Buell, it just depends on your taste. Some are real deep sounding (Drummer, Jardine), some sound like a "built 350 V-8" (D&D) and some are like running straight pipes (Force). It all depends how much you want to spend.

The most economical way to get a GOOD sound out of your bike is to rework you stock can. Larry, JJ and Tim have all done it to their bikes.

The thing is on most aftermarket pipes, you are going to do some horse trading on where the power gains are. Typically you lose some bottom end, but gain top end.

I really like the D&D pipe I have because it has a great Mid-Range punch, which is where I usually ride at.

Since money is usually the biggest factor, here is a list of options from least expensive to most expensive.
1. Reworked stock can $
2. Jardine $$
3. Drummer $$$
4. D&D $$$$
5. Force (Full System) $$$$$
6. Micron (Full System) $$$$$$

Probably the best route to go would be getting the three critical upgrades all together (K&N filter $60, Race ECM $220, and a pipe of your choice). Not including the Force and the Micron systems (because they are so expensive), I think the Reworked stock can, the Drummer, and the D&D are the MOST durable. You won't hear any stories about these falling apart. But, on the other hand, the Jardine is the LIGHTEST of them all. Too many choices!...

Eric,

Welcome to KCLW. My Uly's primary mission is commuting and long-range reconnaissance; for which it is ideally suited straight from the factory. Although, I am on my way over to Larry's to modify my can for more motorcycle/less sewing machine sound. At some point, I will buy a track bike to fully satisfy the mod cravings.

The Jardine sounds great in my opinion, plus it takes about 25 pounds off of the bottom of the bike. It does however need to be taken off and repacked occasionally. I only had mine on for four thousand miles and the rivets pulled through the pipe. I might not be the best person to check somethings reliability with though. My bike has been running lean from some of the mods that I have since the day the pipe has been on, and that can be very hard on an exhaust because of the heat. I also beat the crap out of everything. If there is a weakness I'll find it and it will break. The people at Jardine are being really cool about it. I just need to get a receipt from the guy that I bought it from and Jardine is going to send me a new can. All and all I'm happy with the pipe even though it has fallen apart on me once. For $225 dollars it wins the bang for the buck contest, unless you are just going to gut your stocker then it is the best bang for the buck.

I am very happy with my modified stock can done by the skilled techs at Blackfoot Performance. Thanks Larry and JJ. The Stealthfighter12 exhaust mod you guys did is outstanding! Riding the Uly, I generally see folks staring at the bike, but I noticed a few more people turning to see where the sound was coming from when I pulled in for gas. 60-80 roll-ons seem to pull just a little bit harder. There is little or no discernible low-end difference at all. Gas mileage will likely suffer slightly for awhile from all the gratuitous throttle blips that are becoming a habit.

Thanks fellas. I owe you one.

hey all thanks for the advice on the cans. i think i'll start by removing my mirrors and looking for bar-end ones. mine are loose anyway. i also wanna add some lights under my blue plastic. oh..and i'm seriously thinking about painting my frame black like james (Olinxb12r) has done to his. it'll be a little while until i do ANYTHING to my bike. i just got laid off on friday....so i'll be out of commission, and out of money, for a while. anyone hear of any openings let me know...hahaha. this week looks pretty good from tuesday on until the weekend....since i got some time on my hands anyone up for a ride?

No problem Eric. If you want some good, cheap bar end mirrors, go to the Bicycle shop and buy some 3rd Eye brand mirrors. I have them on my bike and the "serve the purpose" for now. In the future I will upgrade to the CRG billet bar end mirrors. They are ROCK SOLID, but cost about $120.

Sorry to hear about the job. What kind of positions are you seeking? What experience do you have?

Sorry I missed all the B.S. over renaming/
combinding the thread.

I leave you guys alone for a few days, weeks, months, what ever....

Isn't it funny how this thread gets approached to turn over a new leaf, but kcmob gets new top billing. I thought this thread was started because we wanted some where to link up with other riders, in this area, and we the fed up few, where worried about the mob thread(and all it's drama at the time) chasing away new riders to the group.

I might be mistaken, but, it sure seems like there are more new people on this thread then the other.

Larry, how much is the powder coating on the wheels going to cost? I got a place in California that does very good chrome plating, for very reasonable prices. And I've always thought that a set of XB wheels would look kick azz in chrome.

They can also chrome plastic parts. So, if anyone with a XB might like to get there wind deflector chromed, that might be cool too.

For that matter just about all that body work on any XB could be chromed.
