Can't say as I do. I've got to keep those suckers warm somehow though. I just found a set of the handlebar end bolts like you have for your Napoleon's. $15 shipped to me: now are the mirrors $30 each or for the set? I can't believe I'm begging for a job at home in the $9/hr range. INCREDIBLE! So much for the X-mas trackday. I'll settle for a loop of Big Island via Rt. 43 and Hwy 130. NUTS

Charlie,
Sorry I missed you over the weekend. I was out doing the wild thing. Still seeing plenty o' deer but will probably not harvest another this year. I just enjoy sitting out there and seeing nature at her finest.
Jason,
Thats a bummer about the job! Believe me, I want you back up here probably as much as you want to be back. I enjoyed the hunting companionship and the excitement you showed about even the smallest things nature has to offer.
If you make it back before Christmas be sure and let me know. I do an annual squirrel hunt a few days before Christmas that has become a traditional part of my holiday season. I would very much like for you to take part this year if possible.
I hate that you have missed such a bountiful deer season. We have taken a total of 12 this year between the three of us that hunt there. On a brighter note, spring gobbler should be good for us this year since I have seen turkey on just about every outing.

The temperature has finally dipped below 60! excellent weather for digging ditches in the yard. I'm rackin my brain day and night trying to find some way to get home and stay there but I think I'll be spending another Christmas in sandals and a tank top. Anyone making any plans for rides in 2006? I'd like to go down to N.Georgia for the March Badness. Last year Mr.Buell was there with the demo truck. I figure it's @500 miles to Suches, that's going to be one heck of a ride with a tent on board. NUTS

ALERT, I'll be holding a rider tecniques practice session just as soon as I get home and the weather permits. I just read a post regarding trail braking and I have been inspired to practice all those "what if's". Details to be announced. Hopefully we'll all be available to attend. Sidenote: there is a "toys for tots" run tomorrow. I'm wondering if I should park and watch the 5000 bikes idle by knowing I'm 996 miles from the Lightning. I think not. I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. NUTS

This just in: NUTS will be home December 20 and will be departing the 25th early. Cheaper to leave on THE day. I vote for a healthy "squirrelin"! It appears as though I'm posting to myself but I'll take what I can get. NUTS

A squirrelin' fiasco will be planned for your arrival! I anticipate a good trip since I have seen plenty of the little rascals in recent outings. A humble suggestion though. Buy a scope! I want you to harvest your bag limit so I can fill the freezer up.
Yesterday was the first day I have not seen a deer since the season began this year. Sat out there from 5:30 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. and didn't see squat except for mucho squirrels and wood peckers. Still enjoyed the peace and quiet though.
As far as the riding clinic, I may have to politely bow out of that one. Ya'll know I ain't no good for riding once the temps dip below 60. Plus after tomorrows' snow there will be salt residue on the road. Just think of the havoc that would wreak on my shiny machine!!
I was reading online that Florida has some smokin' hog hunting. Are you trying to keep all that fun for yourself? When is the season and what can we do about organizing a porker hunt?
See ya' soon!

I've got a phone in interview scheduled for 11 this morning. If they can find me $11/hr I'll be a Virginian real soon. Jackie, I'll be a-shoppin for a scope this week, that way there will be no excuses. I've got an itch to ride so bad I might just be seen on the roads December 20-24.
Charlie, I hope you're finding warm enough weather to ride in SC. Good luck everyone. NUTS

Good luck on the interview Jason! Hopefully this will be the one that lands you back home.
I have been looking at the 10 day forecast every day hoping to see a warming trend towards the time of your arrival but it doesn't look like it is going to happen. Maybe I can really bundle up and join you on a abbreviated route to celebrate your return.
You got me curious about the hog hunting. Do you know someone who can hook us up?

By the way, no need for an expensive scope. Look for a BSA, Tasco or Simmons. All can be had for less than $40.00. Walmart is a safe bet to have them.

Truthfully Jackie there is not much public land in Florida that holds hogs anymore. The endangered Panther has begun its rise in population on the Javelina carcasses of the 1980's. Any "good" hog hunt will be on private land, probably shooting over a feeder. There are places that specialize in hunts that find American Pit-Bulls cornering porkers in palmetto heads and dragging them out by their ears. The size of the pig is in direct relation to how many dogs die. All that being said there are places where you have the opportunity to see a 350 pound boar. There just isn't much sport in the hunt. The public-land hunts don't yield large pigs and require a hunter to hopscotch around while on fire to secure a lottery pick for one of the fruitful management areas.
On the hunting front I've been thinking about a bird-hunt someday. They have a nice plantation near Meadows of Dan in our great state. There's something about seeing a working gun-dog afield, focusing as the birds flush that sounds enchanting. Well that'll be all for now friend. NUTS

Jason,
I have been bird hunting. While it is neat watching the dogs work, the actual shooting part is much to easy for most species of bird (especially pheasant). For a truly challenging bird hunt we need to walk the old logging road and jump up some grouse. They scare the crap out of ya' when they flush and fly in the craziest zig-zag pattern you ever seen. If you think bird hunting might be fun then we definately have to work in a few rounds of skeet when you get in!!
See you soon (don't bail on me I'm really looking forward to it).

Jackie, Santa is sending a new set of tires my way, you are welcome to my front if you like. I was planning on keeping it and just replacing the rear but the new tire is a different brand and type. I'm going with a sport-touring pirelli that I'm hoping to get @8000 miles out of. The current tire I've got 5000 on the rear and it's a little too squared off for my tastes. The front has only 2-3000 on it and should last you until you replace the rear. Here's hoping the winds bring me home and die until after the new year. NUTS

I APPRECIATE IT!! I will definately take you up on that offer. Money is tight at the moment. With Christmas and all the home improvement thats been going on I am as broke as a convict.
Be prepared for an action packed hunt (unless of course, you bring the wind with you).
By the way, turkey will be in too so maybe we can still get you that bird.

I had an incredible day today. Went with my Dad to a few motorcycle shops culminating in the Ducati Miami dealership. Yeeeow That place had the cream of the crop of Italian bikes. I saw racebikes, crazy rare carbon fiber bikes, just amazing stuff. This is a fter going into a dealership that carries Aprilia bikes. All those twin cylinder bikes that make such a growl on the racetrack were right there. I saw lots of leftover 2002 and 2003 bikes. Cash talks so I was reservedly sheepish. Bumped into a nice 2000 X1 White Lightning for sale too. 3000 miles all stock, the guy said they paid 6000 on trade and had it sitting there for a year. They were asking 4500. I told my Dad the bike was a good "rider" bike for $3000. Would have made a good winter teardown project too. The bike has a few little rust stains on the frame and the plastics needed a little attention. A little "FLITZ" polish goes a long way on the aluminum tailsection too. I got to sit on all the dream bikes I wanted today and man I'm really missing my bike now. Tomorrow we are planning on visiting BUELL and BMW. My mission is to get Pop on as many bikes as possible so he can get the idea that a cruiser is not what he wants. Today the best fit was the Ducati Multistrada 1000. Boy would I like to have that sitting in my basement next to the Lightning! For safekeeping of course. I'll be home Tuesday morning Fellas. NUTS

Jason,
Sounds like you had a blast! I can't stand looking at stuff like that unless I have money. Tell your dad to remember how difficult the valve adjustments are on the Ducatis' before he drops his wad of dough.
The gun show is this weekend and my wife invited me to go! She wants me to wander through and pick some reasonably priced items for possible Christmas present candidates. I am going to point out a TC Contender chambered in .17HMC, A nice handmade caping knife, a benchrest or perhaps a .50cal muzzleloader barrel for the TC Encore. Doesn't hurt to dream huh?
One of my turtle eggs is hatching today and is the first documented reproduction in the U.S. of this species. Regardless of what the wife picks up for me I think that the little hatchling is the best present I could have asked for!! MAN, WHAT A BLESSING!!!
Does Thursday sound good for our hunting trip? Do you think we can work two outings in to maximize our chances of scoring a bird?

Charlie, I fondly remember the first time I heard your Cyclone. Too bad it wasn't that long ago. I think that bike is too much for my Pop but I'll be trying to convince him. I can not tell you how sad I am to hear the bike is going along with it's owner away. I guess you must want that thing gone asap because I didn't see it in the classifieds. My legs hold up alright but my hemorrhoids sure do throb LOL!! I wish you would schedule a wee bit of free time on one of your visits so we could get in a bit of outdoor fun.
I wish you the best down south and hope you keep in touch!
Jason,
Just a few more days man! The gun show was awesome and I ended up with a SWEET Kimber .17mach2 topped with a Leupold Vari XIII 50mm. This rifle will make 100 yard squirrel shots with ease (provided I can hold it steady)as well as handle fox, bobcat and coyote (which I plan on pursuing this year).
I have another egg hatching so this month truly has been a memorable one!! hatchling #01

Happy New Year to you and Jackie and your families. I just got back from New Year's in Baton Rouge La. Nice weather but too durn flat.I miss riding with you guy's, haven't been on a bike in a month (of good weather). Traveling along the gulf coast(Alabama, Mississippi & Louisana) is very depressing, it looks like a bomb went off( trash and 20 ft high tree stumps, billboards with nothing left but the post's for more than a 100 miles going north inland.)More "FEMA BLUE" roofs than regular down around Slidell La.
