Judging by the number of post latley, I'm not the only one overcome by reality. The structure of my universe has been morphing as my 15yo daughter is joining the household. Mom is non compus menti, lost in space, mad as hell...whatever. Moving again sucks in much the same way as it did last time, imagine.
Work precludes my attending IMS on any day other than Sunday this year. Here's' to us!

Old Mil, welcome soon to the Seattle area, good to see another buelligan in the area. Wanted to give you a rundown on local shops. Downtown H-D/ Buell has a very large selection of clothing and a fair amount of accessories in stock, I have had no experience with their service department though I will tell you that Jackie, the service manager, is really cool. They claim to be the largest Buell dealer in the northwest. I don't know much about Eastside, but I have had great experiences dealing with Jeremy in service. Scott, the sales manager is a Buell racer and is also very helpful if you need someone on the inside. I work at Destination H-D in Tacoma. I am a service writer and I am really trying to get some Buell specific events going, mostly aiming for the coming spring. We do not have a BRAG Chapter yet, but its in the works. I am personally a buell nut and will do anything I can for you. You can call me anytime at the shop (253)922-3700 my name is Travis. Stop in and see me sometime! We have bar-b-ques every Saturday. (This goes for all Buell riders in the great northwest, I would love to know more Buell riders in the area!)
Oh, and I wouldn't sell your jeep just yet! We go by Bad Weather Bikers, well we take that seriously and literally around here! It's no joke!
Again, welcome to the area and I hope we can hit some corners together in the future!

Ah. Now that's very good to hear, Duane. Sorry we missed the IMS. Would've been good to see you. Should've given someone my serial number to collect the free whatever they were giving to Buell owners. (They won't have that up here.)
I just bailed on my Sportster engine rebuild. Had the cases at the shop but costs were getting out of hand so its back into the attic for another year, sadly. Have to make do with the Buell.

Hello. Dave Bandirola here. I recently bought an 00 S3T which needs some work, but is getting close. I would like to meet up with Buell riders in the area. Any info or rides would be welcomed. I live in NE Tacoma and work 24hr shifts so I have lots of time free during the week to ride. Hope to meet some of you soon.

Mighty quiet in the NW. Suffering from PMS. Parked Motorcycle Syndrome. Delivered the Derbi GPR50 to it's new owner at the Canuck border on Saturday. Happy riding Fred. Hunkered down, ready for Santa, though it's still too early for me to do my shopping. Had a nice coupla days at Breitenbush Hot Springs with my special gal of 40 years or so (clothing optional). Still makes me feel like I was only 45 years old or so. The Ducati sits on the battery charger, begging me for ride. "Later Gina" is all I can tell her. It's too dark/cold/snowy/slippery/crappy out for now. Happy holidays to all my friends. As an ordained member of the Church of Spiritual Humanism, I urge you to celebrate tomorrow the Winter Solstice. The days only get longer from here on out. Peace.

Well if the guy dancing in his leathers didn't cheer you up, here's something that might. For all of us needing to feed our speed and andrenaline fix during these winter months, here's nine minutes of speeding through Paris (right click, choose save as, then download and view in your favorite media player):
http://www.drrjv.com/Movies/Rendezvous.mpg

Here's the story:
C'était un Rendezvous - The Legend

You'd be hard-pressed to find a film as steeped in myth as "C'était un Rendezvous". Filmed in 1976 by seminal French director Claude Lelouch it is regarded as the ultimate in cinema verité.

For many years it has been enjoyed as an almost Masonic secret among car enthusiasts. Whisper the words "Have you seen Rendezvous?" and you'll receive either a knowing, "No, but I've heard it's unbelievable" or a smug, "It is un-be-lieve-able".

Lack of distribution has only fuelled the myths surrounding the film.

Was Lelouch really arrested when it was first shown?

Who drove the car? Was it Lelouch or a hired Formula One driver?

What was the car? Was it really a Ferrari 275 GTB?

How did he do it?

A composite version of the rumours/myths (garnered verbally and from the web) would read something like this ;

Lelouch had made enough money from his classic "Un Homme et une Femme" to buy himself a Ferrari, which he proceeded to drive with "enthusiasm" in his native Paris.

Whilst shooting another film, a new bit of equipment was being used - a gyro stabilised camera mount. Lelouch then came up with the idea for "C'était un Rendezvous". The camera used only had a ten minute film magazine - hence the mad dash to the steps of the Basilique du Sacre Couér in Montmatre.

On first showing, Lelouch was supposedly arrested. In his defence, he proclaimed he had taken all possible precautions. This included convincing a Formula One driver to helm the car (he refused to name him).

Subsequently the film went underground - occasionally shown in front of a Lelouch full-length feature on theatrical release. Outside of this, only poor quality pirate copies on VHS or a badly worn print were available. These would be played at car club meetings and slowly the film attained its mythical status with the arrival of the internet helping to spread the word.

What we do know is that there are no special effects or speeding up the film - Lelouch simply mounted the camera on the front of the car and shot it.

This is what separates "C'était un Rendezvous" from all other films - it's "verité".

Today, the audience walks into a movie, safe in the knowledge of computer-generated special effects or a production where there's enough money to block off streets and control the traffic. Lelouch had none of this.

Richard Symons, a documentary film maker, with more than a passing interest in fast cars came to hear of it and managed to acquire a very poor 2nd generation VHS copy. He wasn't disappointed....

"I'd never seen anything like it, 9 minutes of adrenalin that simply leaves your jaw on the floor. To cut a long story short, we got in touch with the director, dusted down the 35mm negative, restored and re-mastered it for re-release - we've brought out all the details and colours and it looks stunning."

"C'était un Rendezvous" has come to represent something more than an adrenalin rush. It uniquely captures a time and a spirit that seems a long way away from today. Lelouchs' brilliant ending only adds to this - making a beautiful sense out of the preceding nine minutes.

That's fabulous, Eric. I havn't finished downloading it yet but I saw that clip at a theatre in the 70s. I think before the Last Tango in Paris. (which would be appropriate.)Its haunted me. Well done.

Awesome video!

Thanks for making it available to the group.

Kind of reminds me of SPLASH though.

A Great Good friend of mine has passed over this blessed holyday, and left a big Hole in my Heart. We met freshman year at college and started skatebording and playing music together. I've loved him ever since. He always used to tell me I was special, and after awhile I began to belive him. Of course now I know the truth, but I don't blame him for fibbing to me. I'll never be the same. Thank You Jorge.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Chris got us a new computer for xmas!

We will be going to high speen internet soon and we will be getting new email addresses. Can't wait to be rid of this mac we have and the slow internet.

Fun Jimmy, I am sorry that things did not get planned for the IMS show. We have been so busy here that I had no time to plan the gathering. Chris was still in school, and I was working 12-14 hours a day during that time. Maybe next year I can get something together.

Galen you are special to all of us!: ) Sorry to hear about your buddy.

Bob, When did we decide the dates for SPLASH are? And did we decide to meet in Packwood this year and stay there the 2 nights with planned rides for the 2 days? Got to get started on the motel plans and all the other stuff..... Without this info I cant do nothin. Thanks, Luv ya!

Hope that everyone had a merry xmas and everyone please have a happy safe new year!

Love, Loni
