I'm in!

Sorry I haven't chimed-in on the upcoming dinner before now - I've been on vacation, and had to promise my wife that I'd stay away from the computer while family was in town (they're all gone now... ).

Thanks to everyone for taking the ball and running with it (pun intended - recent posts read kinda like a football game! Only thing missing was the penalty flag and a long review by the officials ).

I'm really looking forward to the ride as well. If this weather holds out, we won't be wearing as many layers as last year...

Good for you Angela. Just one question... "THERE WILL BE......................
NO MICS, NO AMPS, NO PODIUM, NO GUEST SPEAKER, NO Q&A..."

Please explain. I've already sent an invitation. Is there some reason we cannot have a short presentation by a factory representative? If not, I'd like to leave the invitation open on that.

I gotta back you up there Blake, even though I have no business on this thread !! First time I've ever seen you so speechless and I'm so sorry to find humor at your expense !!

It was however rude !!

Hope you guys have a great event anyway !! : )

I think I see the disconnect here...

"RIGHT NOW IT IS JUST A SIMPLE RIDE AND DINNER WITH FRIENDS!"

That in my opinion is an inaccurate characterization.

CJ,

Am I unable to speak or am I biting my tongue? hmmmmm....

Could I actually be getting wise with age? Hard to believe ain't it? ;) Time will tell for sure, but at this point I'm pretty sure that it's best to fight the tendency to let negative emotions rule the day in group efforts like this. We are after all trying to make plans for an upbeat gathering of Buell enthusiasts, a celebration of camaraderie, a face-to-face getting to know each other better in the real world kind of thing including many guests from out of town.

Too many control freaks tend to ruin the soup, or in this case the barbecue. ;) And that would really be sucky.

I'm just glad that Angela changed her mind and will be attending after all. That has to be a positive thing. After all, we need more strong-willed female Buell enthusiasts to help keep us hooligans in line. ;)

Angela,

If your daughter's personality is anything like mine, you have my sincere sympathy. : ] That said, there is a "Criticize Blake" thread buried somewhere in the Quick Board archives. Please take advantage of that thread as you see fit; I'll do my best to gratefully take any thoughtful criticizm to heart. Pretty sure it's best to avoid posting personally critical content here and just stick to the topical issue(s), don't you agree? : )

So, back to the topical issues... : )

It might be important to note that Dave and I have both invited folks from the factory to the dinner. Whether or not they will be able to join us is still up in the air. But if they are able to join us, and if at least one of them is agreeable, I sincerely hope that no one will be offended by a short presentation on the latest and greatest concerning Buell motorcycles. Frankly, it's nearly impossible for me to imagine any Buell enthusiast rejecting an opportunity to witness such a presentation as well as to have the chance to participate in a Q&A session afterwards; to be honest, I am bewildered by your dictatorial proclamation that there shall be none.

The name tag thing is more a personal request, although I'm sure it would be helpful to most everyone seeing as how we expect a significant number of out-of-town guests to join us. If it is too inconvenient to honor my name-tag request, then forget it. If not, I'll bring the name tags and will even personally fill them out if necessary. Okee-dokee? : )

link to the criticize Blake thread. Appears that it's been dormant for a couple of months now, probably better than being a doormat though. (get it? dormant vs doormat in context of criticism????? Oh well, I guess you'd have to be here. bye....)

Commenting for myself: I would like to invite anyone who rides, sells, repairs, builds, design or has any connections with Buells. If any of those have the desire to speak, I intend to listen. See yall in a few weeks.

My only concern is that those who may speak will view this as work and avoid this event entirely next year.

But if someone wants to talk, I'll surely listen.

Right, cause the folks at Buell just HATE talking about their motorcycles and the innovative technology that goes into them.

Would you view it as "work" to tell interested friends about your new daughter? Be warned, you better bring photos. ;)

Angela,

That's great news! I'll leave the invitations open then. : )

Yep, I'm kinda like a Border Collie in that I'll try to better organize just about anything. Until you learn my secret whistle, I'll run rough-shod over any and all events with more than two participants. Woof! : ]

The great news is that we are all friends, fellow Buell enthusiasts, and all just talking about related fun stuff. There really is no justification for consternation of any kind. On account of it is all good.

Disagreement, debate, and discussion is all fine and welcome and should in no way elicit any hostility. If it weren't for discussion/debate we'd be eating at the Trail Dust. I'm personally much more stoked about the Up'n Smoke venue.

Trust me, the folks at Buell don't need much in the way of preparation to talk about their motorcycles. ;)

And even if that does require a bit of preparatory effort on the part of our guest(s), it will be worth it for them to personally witness Dago's impression of his XB12 engine. joker

To clarify, please know that I don't mean to imply that it is great news that you have lupus or intend to ignore your doctor's advice. Both of those thinks are sucky. I hope you'll join us for dinner. Dave and I will stick to the soft drinks, if you will too. : )

Is there really a need for any kind of derisive personal commentary here whatsoever? I wish those who somehow see fit to post that kind of content here would simply cease doing so, no more discussion or excuse making, just stop it right now. That kind of derisive content simply makes for hard feelings, and I for one would like to avoid hard feelings especially over such trivial issues. Discussion of the issues and plans should be enough; sinking to derisive personal commentary like some unfortunately see fit to do is absolutely not welcome anywhere on this discussion board. Period. I cannot drive that point home hard enough. I hope y'all will help me with that.

I'll butt out of the whole dinner planning issue as apparently any suggestion I make or opinion I share is viewed by some as a kind of malevolent dictatorial order. That I don't share that characterization is irrelevant, that some perceive it in such a light cannot be denied. So I'll butt out.

I sincerely apologize to anyone I may have offended with my questions and suggestions; I hope you will forgive my enthusiasm and eagerness to help in this effort.

See you at the dinner.

Blake, if you know Kevin, I believe he probably was laughing when he spoke, (allthough with that accent of his, I'm not sure!),but he is a truly nice gentleman and we will ALL get along at dinner, won't we?
I'm looking very much forward to it all, if weather is good, we might just ride,it's all- ways a funny sight to see two-up on a 'bolt!

I'm sure anxious to meet you Derek. : ) It has however been made crystal clear to me that I am viewed here as an outsider who's input on this event is entirely unappreciated and in fact viewed as "interference." So I'll bow out and be there with fork in hand smiling and ready to eat some great BBQ while getting to know some new friends. : ) That sure makes things a LOT easier for me, so I'm perfectly fine with that role. So now my most pressing job is to decide on which meat to eat. I think I'll be going with the brisket BBQ plate. Thanks for the kind words. : )

Excellent choice. What vintage of pork would you like sir? Might I suggest a nice fresh 2005 vintage Arkansas razorback?... Nicely lean with just enough marbling to keep it juicy with a robust meaty finish. Toothpicks if you please. : D

Ribs are delicious and fun to eat too. Maybe a combo plate will be in order for me.

Would be cool to order a couple sampler plates if they have 'em so we can try a little of everything. In fact, I'll go ahead and phone ahead and have a couple ready and waiting for us to snack on while we wait for our orders. My treat of course.

All this salivating over fresh meat reminds me that I saw Ted Nugent on the Fox News Morning show today as I was enjoying my first cup of coffee. Ted rocks! Ain't no PC in Ted Nugent! Every time I see the guy he makes me want to put on the grease paint and camo, grab my bow and go kill some food.

Then I noticed the dead armadillo at the end of the drive. And I thought... poor old guy.

What's the best way to BBQ armadillo? joker
