Beautiful Day, Great Ride, Great People and Good Food.

Sorry if I sprayed anyone with the Oil

I guess I will limp it along until after the ride in January and then either tear it down for a root cause or wait til spring and sell her for a new one (firebolt).

Any suggestions or opinions?

Anyone recommend any good shops, Dago you said you had one somewhere east of Dallas the last time we spoke?

I will post some pics as well.

Micah

Angela, I got to thinking later that it might have been Homero. What with the ear plugs, etc... Let us know what you find out about your bike...

Angela,
Did you choose to ride at 40 because the light was on or is 40 as fast as the bike would go?
First verify if it’s the oil light or engine light.
If it’s the engine light and the bike would only go 40 check your coil and spark plugs wires. Mechanics have been known to not fully connect the wires at the dealer or factory. If the wires are secure then check the O2 sensor.
If it’s the oil light then check the oil pressure sensor. Oil pressure sensors have been known to go bad with very few miles.
I’ve experienced all the above when I had my X1. A mechanic at FW HD did not fully connect a plug wire when I had the metal head gaskets installed. I had a $50 heated O2 sensor go bad within a few 100 miles, luckily it had a 50,000 mile warranty and they replaced it no questions asked and I never had another problem with it. I also had an oil pressure sensor go bad, $12 part.
Let us know what you find out.

I think I only said goodbye to a few people after the ride. Didn’t mean to be rude I was just preoccupied with discussing the different route choices.
Had a great time. Will need a new rear tire before I can ride again, the cords are showing in one place. FYI, if you notice your rear tire is locking up easily, you probably need a new tire.

Angela,
When traveling at high rates of speed it is REALLY important to look very far ahead, something most people are not used to, that way, anything that comes up will not be a surprise.
As far as the policeman, we heard from chris that he pulled out right after we went by, (at WELL over 100), I'm glad he decided not to do anything.David told me that the officers around there are always nice, most incredibly different from cali, we would have had planes and helicopters after us yesterday back home.
After you reset the comp, keep us informed if you need any help, my bike had the same occurance, turned out to be the head temp sensor, easily replaced, it's also easy to check the codes, happy to help if I can, keep in touch, and so glad you and H had fun!

FYI, if you notice your rear tire is locking up easily, you probably need a new tire.

Or, your rear brake is just really hot from all the hard braking leading into the twisties!!! (that, and my "longer-life" Michelin Pilot Road tires)

Words cannot describe yesterday, but I'll try...
Fun; Exhilarating; Cool, and yet warm (FYI, Dave - it was 58 degrees at 8am, and up to 83 at 3pm); Camaraderie; Challenging; and "Found my groove..."

It was great riding with old friends, and even better to meet and ride with the new ones. It was over much too quickly (even though I logged nearly 300 miles from my home and back again).

What a great group of Buellers! I can't wait 'til January!

The first time we went by the hay it was on the side of the road. I thought to myself, self, with this drought that is a valuable pile of hay sitting there, it won’t take long for someone to get it. Sure enough on the way back there was a couple with a front-end loader picking it up. Did they drop it in front of you?
As for the Sheriffs, I have gone by them several times now in several years, alone and in groups, at speeds over 80 mph and they have done nothing. I don’t know if they just don’t care about the bikes, if it’s bad for the area’s economy to ticket us or if something happens at those speeds we’ll provide our on justice.

Angela, if it was me, American Eagle in Corinth is definitely where I'd go. To the best of my knowledge, they've only got one Buell certified technician, but he's been doing pretty good work on my bikes for a year and a half now. From where you are it should be right around 45 minutes. Also, I don't know what kind of truck you've got, but try the ditch trick, where you back into a steep-sided ditch and then just roll the bike right in. Even if you need a "bridge" for a gap of a couple feet, a 2x12 works just fine. Been there.

Angela, you said "It was nothing like I was expecting (and thats a good thing)."

I'm just curious: what were you expecting?

I haven't ridden with any other groups. So I have nothing to compare it to.

Yikes! I'm sorry to hear about your past experiences and equally as happy to be informed we aren't lumped into that same category or rider. But I won't be so bold as to claim I'm never an immature testosterone driven moron. My wife will attest to the fact that I am, on occasion. ; )

Ask for Michael, the Service Manager, and tell him your story. Be sure to drop a line that you're an active BadWeb member and that's how you knew to call them. I'm not sure that's the magic formula. But it seemed to work quite well for me.

Michael is a very cool guy regardless.

Hey guys, sorry to be out of touch for so long. I started a job and have been pretty consumed with that.

Yeah I made it home ok, Tire soaked as usual. The pics look good and will post tonight.

Bummed about the continued issues with the M2, but BadWeb has started to reply to my gripe and I am getting some possible resolutions.

Derek, I would like to take you out for some discovery rides in your neck of the woods. I come from Durant, Ok and lived in a round that area north of the border. I found some good Sweeps and short switch backs followed by some long straights. The roads are beautiful and the cars are a non issue.

Lastly, I posted it on the quick board but I will ask it again. Do you think I am going to continue to have a reliablity issue with the V-twin pushing the engine up into the 5-6800 rpm range on a daily basis. I do this to my inline 4 (i.e. 9k-11500K) and it has no negative impact to date on the motor. It seems it just keep breaking the v-twin. Any thoughts?

All, chime in and tell me if I’m wrong. If the engine light comes on is it not recorded in the bike’s diagnostic center, and the reason will be displayed when the bike is diagnosed? In other words the engine light does not have to be on to determine why it came on? So shouldn’t the mechanics be able to tell why the engine light on Angela’s bike came on?

Are you sure they hooked it up to the computer? It is entirely possible that they rode the bike, found nothing, and stopped there before hooking it up to the diagnostic machine.
