Dyna,
Yep, that sweeper is nasty at times. I'm always seeing cars and trucks drift off onto the shoulder there as they try to go too fast in order to merge with the southbound lanes while looking over their right shoulder like some fighter pilot veering in for a straffing run and they try to line up their notch to jump three lanes across to hit the airport exit. Not at all a good place to go down. Glad for the two of you that things didn't go from bad to worse right there.

I wonder what the insurance company is going to do for the salvage parts, if there's even enough to take. Probably is if someone wanted a project bike, like me if the cash wasn't so strapped right now.

Take care of that toe, and go with your wife to the Dr. if you can. Head injurys are nasty, she's doing good by going in.

Kate /Don,

Thanks for hosting the party. A very enjoyable evening. I'm still up for beer.

Wes,

Glad you're feeling better. Didn't think a hangover could set in so quick.

It sure seemed like a long ride home (It's really not, but it seemed like it). Joe, I'm sure it was worse for you.

Heh Grape,
You are very welcome! I am so glad that you got to come over and that you had a nice time. It was nice to just sit around and relax around the campfire. So, what was up with the marshmallows??? I'm serious, I am going to write the a letter. Not normal at all!!!

Wes, glad that your hangover is gone!! How did your wife's job interview go?

Dyna . . . . .. . . crap! I'm so sorry you guys went down (I hear a buncha folks had near misses . . . . .) . . .there was a lwsuit (in New York State, if memory serves) a few years ago about tar snakes . . . a biker got killed on account of a particularly-stupidly laid series of them in a switchback (again, if I have confused several stories) . . . . I believe the suit was successful, and an advisory was issued to state DOTs about the excessive application of tar . . . .

that IS a good exaple of a dumb intersection . . . . perhaps after MikeJ becomes governor, something can be done?

Really glad you guys are alright, though . . . . gear rules!

the previous offer of garage space and wrench spinning can be extended to the big scoot as well, bud . . . . . .it'll be more fun than payin Hal's (good folks though they are, I'm sure) . . . . cheaper, too! those scoot are hard to kill, and it sounds like just bolt-on bits that need replacing . . . .we could likely do the work in a day or so, depending on how often we stop for scotch

Could I get your shrimp recipe from the BBQ? I'd appreciate it! I'd like to make it for an upcoming party.

Bomber, I am waiting to see what the insurance company says. Looks like they might total it. If so i wanna see what it would cost me to buy her back. Hell It rolled straight. I have a lot of new parts at home that can go right on her, new pipes, pegs, etc. Really all I need to do is get a tank, a brake lever mount, a new intake, & drill out the breather bolts, they got snapped off. I would have to see what shape the forks are in, but they looked good to me. Would be sweet to get her back on the road for maybe $1000.

I really love that bike, not something I can say about the Buell, but thats another topic.

They claim the frame was "tweaked" from the right forward control getting hit. How bad could that be? Hell I know of several places that can "tweak" em right back.

Dyna . . careful, bud . . . . if the frame is tweaked, we need to get it magnafluxed . . . . could be cracks that you can't see with the aid of that, oor a similar technology (they basically magnatize the frame, and pour little bits of magnetic material onto the area in question . . . the little bits will line up with any crack, making it easily visable) . . . .

could be easy, though, and fun . . . . remember the single malt that lives in the garage

Yellow Blurr,

Stacey's interview with Briggs and Stratton went very well. they've called her back twice now for more information so hopefully she will land the job....plus if she works at Briggs, maybe we can get a discount on a new lawnmower and she can't use the excuse that she's too 'embarrassed' to mow the lawn with our current one (supertrapp exhaust, ported head, run all my awesome smelling old race gas through it.....).

Grape,

Yes, I too was a little surprized by the 'hangover', although we started hitting it hard around 3pm, so 11:00pm hangover may not be totally out of the question...I was a little sleep deprived and only one day off a 3 hour jet lag, so that may have done it as well. Or I'm just a puss.

I dig the fall....awesome day for a ride. Is anybody free the weekend of 19th? I've finally got a free weekend and have always wanted to ride up in the northern Kettle Moraine area, but being my first time in the area, would prefer a knowledgeable guide to get to the good twisties!

WFO,
Heh, funny that you mention that. Don and I were going to ask you if you two wanted to go to Farmer Brown's on the 18th. Maybe we could go for a ride during the day and then head on over the ol' haunted house in the evening. They also will have a pig roast and bonfire. Whatcha think?

Maybe we should even make it a Uke's Brag Club event???? What does everyone think???

Can I ride bitch with you Bomber?

And yes I know about getting the frame checked out. Hell even If I had to I could swap it out. Start over basically. At least I have something to build off of, & I have all winter to do it. The Dyna will ride again.

4&6 cycle, they were located in the city not to far from my house, but some city problem forced them to move to Skokie, if i remenber right in my last issue of RRworld, the had a deal, for 150 they would check your bike out and tell you if it had been straightened or what it needed, 4&6 are good guys, do great work, sponsor racers, have an engine room the whole bit, so its not to far from your house easy truck trip and then stop in for lunch, maybe puerto rican or BBQ
let me know

oh and about striping the bike no need they do it on a laser system, so the bike can be apart of together, a freind of mine who is the fastest guy i know on a bike(scary) said he had a problem with his gsxr, around 120 it would buck the crap out of him, takes it there, has NO idea what they do, gets it back, bike rides better than ever no shake, no movement, rock solid, loves the place and takes all his bike there, worth a try, and as far as the buy back thing insurance companys are different, mine told me they would only sell it to me if it was newer than 8 yrs old, but here is the trick if its at your house, they sell it a little easier because its such a pain to get it, if its at the dealer, its no problem dealer, can take care of it, so pick it up bring it home, pay off the loan and have the title, again what happened to me was since i paid the bike off early, the insurance never saw the title, and never asked for it, so it stayed clean, this is very important in illinois, a clean title means the bike can roll again with minimal problems, if you dont have the title , get it, that way when they offer you the bike, its no proble they deduct the price of the bike off the total amout they owe you
later

Just talked to insurance, they want $5600 for salvage. Fuck that, I can buy a new bike with that much. Hell with the $$ I get I can pay off loan, buy a new FZ1 & have some $$ left.
