I scored a 2002 X1 lightning service manual on ebay today if anyone needs tech info during winter maintenance. I picked up a decent Clymer manual for the FXR awhile back, but the Buell book is the HD publication.
I rode the Buell a little Sunday and the FXR a little Saturday before the rain. I got oil changed on both and my pickup too this weekend.
I need to do oil line replacements on both bikes this winter and might replace the drive belt on the Buell if I can afford it. I have new front brake pads for the Buell and need a new rear tire and rear brake and wheel bearing work on the FXR, probably need to do some little reliability and cleanup work on the Buell.
I have around 15,500 miles on the X1W now

Hey guys,

Snapped a few good pics of what became of Larry's old bike Saturday morning before I drove up to Idaho to deliver her. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Later,
Justin

It is supposed to be pretty nice this evening. Who wants to go riding? I am up for it. Just dress for the occasion...last night I went out for a little while and after about 45 min I was getting cold!

Oh yeah, I stopped by the Club House Grill and there were NO bikes there. In fact, it had a new sign up. Its not the CHG anymore!??

Justin,
What size of tire is on the back of your chopper you built?

The bike looks sweet!

Finely we have some good riding weather. I got to work this morning and with the moisture from the fog, I had ice built up on the backs of my gloves and sleeves of my jacket. The front fender had icicles streaming off of it. No more cleaning the bugs off the face shield every morning.

Loren - I was noticing the lack of bugs this morning. It's great.

I love the cooler weather for riding.......

Hey DTX,

It's a 200 Avon Azaro, fits with the stock belt and pulleys with just a little less than a quarter inch clearance. Not a ton of room but good enough. Glad you dig it.

Later,
Justin

It was a balmy 30 degrees when Ulysses and I left for work this morning. No ice accumulation on me. I managed to pick off another two bugs with my faceshield this afternoon when I rode home for lunch. The killin' ain't over till its over.

What a stupid name for a motorcycle. It sounds like I was writing about my life partner or something. You can't even say it without sounding like you have a lisp.

Drake, that's "X..tthhh" with a lisp. I agree they could have picked a better name.

I'm a voiding a little bigger game than bugs these days. I'm seeing more deer, and there was a psycho raccoon yesterday morning that crossed the road out in front of me.

Loren,
I was just going to ask you about all the deer. Don't you commute from Baldwin to Lawrence everyday? Thats a bunch of deer infested country roads. Be careful!

I have been shortening the name to Uly like everyone else, but only because you can say it without the lisp.

Drake, Yes, and the deer are pretty thick....I have slowed down a bit since the first of Oct. I hit one this time last year in my truck. I don't want to repeat that on the bike. That could be real ugly!

Deer started into Rut this week pretty heavy. I saw several on my way to St Joe, the big bucks are out moving. A good sized 6pt ran off of a high retaining wall behind Home Depot in St Joe and crashed into the parking lot and killed himself, that was just wierd.
I rode the FXR to Leavenworth on highway 5 this morning, about 11:00am, what a nice ride, watch out for all the road kill possums though, I would sure hate to hit one of the greasy stinkin things. Rode back through Farley on the way homeon 45hwy, will probably ride the FXR to St Joe in the morning

Well, I was the only one who showed up to Fuell last night...me and about 12 Harley's. I ended up going riding with two guys, one with a Night Train and one with a Chopper from some Arizona company. The Chopper had a 112 cubic inch S&S and I could tell by following him that it was pulling hard! I kept up of course...

We ended up at Arizona's bar and grill (435 and midland) for a beer and then called it a night.

My conclusion, the people who truely enjoy riding for the riding, is the Harley/Buell crowd. They don't mind if its a little chilly out. They just wanna ride! I have been lurking on the KC sport bike forums (KCSB.com) lately and all those guys do is complain about how cold it is to ride out and get into HUGE fights on the board. I thought we were all motorcyclist here!? All they want to do is kick each others and brag that they are better riders...not my crowd. What a bunch of punks.
