Paul, Brandon, and any others. Open invitation to stay here Saturday night. But I'd need to know before say midnight tonight. I'm working Saturday but should be able to knock off early if anyone is coming. If nobody's coming to visit, I'll put in some OT so speak up.

Sporty Eric,
Can you send or email me directions to your place?
captlusk@earthlink.net I'll probably head that way saturday afternoon. S1 Hooligan, how about coming up the penninsula and meeting me in Poulsbo in the afternoon. Then we can take the ferry from PT to Whidby, cross Deception and take the back way up to Bellingham and onward. What you think? By the way, I'm on a Bagger also.

Galen,
I got a black 97 Daytona for sale....

Let me know. My cell is 206-240-1065

Hoorray! Looks like I'm having a Bueller party! Yes, Buellbob. You're welcome to join us. I expect we'll leave from my house around 9:30ish(?) Sunday. GO east to Mt Baker, then to Anacortes for later in the afternoon. I have to be back home about 8pm, so no overnight, thanks, Brandon.
I'm working Saturday but hope to be able to escape by 2 and be home by 3pm. I've PM'd Paul the directions but I guess posting them here would be good too.
Great that this is coming together so nicely. My address is 2275 153A street. Surrey. Phone 604-542-9254 (you need the area code even when calling locally. No "1", though. My work number is 604 685 7842. That'll get you my dispatcher, who could tell you my where-abouts and ETA if I'm not able to be there early. Dispatchers are easy to get along with. They're used to fielding calls for me.

Directions.

It's a weird neighbourhood of streets that don't go all the way through. From the border crossing, either one, (truck crossing or Peace Arch), head west to the traffic circle. Then go north. You're on King George highway. Turn left (west) onto 20th avenue. Turn right(north) onto 152 street. Turn right (east) onto 24th avenue. Turn right (south) on 153A street. I'm halfway down on the right. With red brick pillars at the foot of the driveway. Beers in the fridge in the workshop. Watch out for the dogs.

Hope to be home by 3pm but could get delayed. There's a pub half a block north. I'm home alone (except for the critters- dogs, cats, snakes, lizards, etc.) so I can bunk as many as care to come.

Canucks need a birth certificate to get into the US. I don't know if Americans need one to get back home. Bring one if you have it handy. Trust to luck otherwise. I don't think Canadian border guards require the same ID of those coming north. (I've never been asked to produce any, northbound. If they ask if you have any marijuana with you, say,
" Why would anyone bring pot TO Canada. Its GUNS north, POT south. You're suppposed to ask if I have any GUNS."
Border guards think that that is hilarious.

FunJimmy,
I'm several blocks North of Metrotown.I was just going to burn over the Alex Fraser and out the hwy. and follow his directions. I was going to leave around 8:15 or so, I don't figure it'll take long to find his place. If you want to hook up and go there together, where do you want to meet?

Buellbob. Coming from the north on 99 you can just take the (new) 152 street south exit. Turn left on 24th, then right on 153A. The essential is to be at 152 and 24th and able to be east-bound. You're welcome to come by for a suds this evening, as is Harve, and anyone else.
Where's Lorraine and Don?

That was a pretty good outing overall. Jimmy's S1 didn't make it much south of the border. I have to say that he had a pretty good attitude riding on the back of Eric's and then Shaun's bike for the rest of the day. We went to the top of Mt. Baker, to the Beer Shrine for outstanding pizza and a couple of pops then on to Anacortes to the Oyster Run. I was very suprised with the size of that run. Tons of cool bikes, freaky people and just enough beer. Back home via Chuckanut Drive. Perfect fall weather - Great Day!

Happy to advise that the S1 is back home now.

Bummed that it didn't get stolen while left out over night in Washington.

I've had a chance to pull the rear head and cylinder only to discover that the rods are almost seized. That resistance to rotate on the crank pin loaded up the piston and pretty much wiped the thrust face off it. Looks like a goner.

Hope your day is better than mine.

Got home yesterday around 4pm, started off monday morning with a run up the freeway to Chuckanut Dr then ran it down hill back to I-5. Great road if you are looking for a view, I had pictured something more. The curvy area was all no passing and residential for the most part, so a car could pull out of a driveway around any corner. The View was awesome and distracted me a bit in the upper section. I stopped at The Oyster bar and waited for Marcus, the view there was great. But like that, it was over, the road went over a nice sweeper bridge and then...POW..long straight aways that made I-5 look good...lol... We headed down I-5 to the Edmonds Ferry then headed out to Hwy 3 down through Bremerton. It was a good section, again a little to straight for me, but good overall roads and scenery. We headed down to Hwy 101 then back to I5 for the boring freeway ride the rest of the way.

We stopped for gas at Woodland and I tried to get Marcus to head out to St helens but he had to get home to the wife and new born. Shheesh....lol..Anyways he said to say thanks again to Eric and tell everyone he had a great time.

Jimmy, I got your msg this morning, sorry I missed the call. I was working and left my phone in the riding jacket. What are you looking to spend on a motor?

Really don't know the extent of the damage yet, but remembered that you had a donor engine in your living room. If the price is right I'll swing down and clean up the bits and pieces from your home. I don't want to insult so I won't.
Whats sounds fair?
What do you have available?

for some reason my camera is hating me..I cant seem to get the pc and camera to see each other. Ill work on it when I get some more time today. Basically I dont know what all is wrong, but I know the tranny is hosed and the cases are cracked. The rest I think it fine, the upper end had just been redone, just the stock S1 heads bored 1 over and Weisco pistons and rings done by a performance shop here local, then the valves where cleaned up. I put about 700 miles on it maybe when the case cracked and chunked a piece off. The bike was running and sounded great when it happend, but a real bad sound coming from tranny around the front sprocket area. It was eating up the bearings and spiting them out, just before the case cracked. At least I hope it was spitting them out and not sucking them in. Again im not sure about any of it other then what you can see from the outside, I just went for the complete replacement. It has been siting since.

When we were at the second gas stop and jimmy was already riding with Eric the first little bit, he gets off and they are checking Erics bike to see where a noise is coming from or something, then Jimmy takes Shawn up on his offer to ride on the back of his shovel with him....sissy bar and all folks...I turn and ask if anyone has a camera, but no one did... I have to agree with Harv though jimmy took it like a true soldier and carried on with the rest of us, and im glad he did, I enjoyed seeing ya Jimmy.

Why, oh why didn't Eric the Creator buy 50 Ninja engines. Or Hurricane, or anything other than thoes damn Sporty units he got stuck with. History would be rewritten with so many fewer blown up bikes littering the trail to the river crossing. So many fewer tears dropped by the side of the road.-sigh- If only .
Betty is being relagated to rides where the speed will not exceed the posted kilowackers, and I am within walking distance of home. She is going to be a show bike. And what a show. Perhaps a snowmobile conversion? S1, you had better just keep that other motor if you know what I mean.

See ya in December...Galen

Deb

Thanks for the belated offer. It was a ton of fun riding Bitch with Shawn. We had a grand ole time. You would probably have been distracted by the roll of breath mints in my pocket anyway. LOL

S1H

Thanks for all the pictures of your available engine. I had forgotten that you just redid the top end of that engine prior to discovering the cracked cases. I'm probably going to purchase an S&S rod kit, new pistons and over bore my cylinders. Oh, and replace the oil pump if it is in fact the culprit.
Galen may be right, you may want to keep that engine for future use.

Galen

We don't owe the Buell brand anything at all. In fact the Buell brand owes us as we have been the loyal believers from the beginning. We try so hard and at great expense to demonstrate the potential performance of this unique bike and inevitably we get burned. Buell has to consider getting their technology into the 20th century or better the 21st.

I'm with you on the show bike frustrations too. I'm going to detune my engine and start riding this thing at the level it is capable of sustaining. Comfortable street speeds, and when I want to ride like the group I so often keep company with, then I'll ride an import, like all the rest of the performance crowd.

Hey: Any thoughts on the oil pump debate. The pump that was in my bike is the '98 version with the extra return port from the cam cavity. I thought there had been concerns regarding this pump. Anyone remember that.

Cheers

Sorry about your bike Jim.

On a positive note, bought rear brake pads from Paradise last Sunday. It is the first time I have ever asked for a Buell specific part that they had in stock. The said they are going to make an effort to stock more Buell parts. They are also backorder all bikes except the Blast for a few months.
