Nah, he replaced the tail section with an '01 and I'm just checking to see if he still had the '98 setup.

Good Jason. You need to get away from the "Take it apart, put it back together" bikes. Single purpose, not multi ummmmmmmm-k?!
Are you in possession of a safety wire kit Jason, or are you using Toms? I just changed the oil on the Duc. Nice to see the they aren't any smarter than Buell when it comes to running exhaust components right under the drain plug!! Letting warm up with an open garage, with a big @ss fan running, but man that race fuel exhaust can get ya loopy fast!

We are making Pasta Salad and Shish-Ka-Bobs for this weekend if that helps in the planning.

Dana, thanks for stopping by and for lunch today. Tomorrow it's back to Illinois.

Metzeler link is back. You need to purchase your tire first. Because I'm not really in any hurry, I ordered from motorcycle_superstore.com. Tire was $162.99 with $5 handling charge and free ground shipping. The "free" front tire is $25 for shipping. Still getting a great set of track rubber for under $200!!!

Rocco, I don't have any safety wire but I'm looking. Hopefully I'll find something otherwise I might have to beg Tom. Next up is drilling the bolts for the wire.

Ya know, if'n you guys would have said something sooner. I could have drilled all those bolts for ya. It's a buch easier to drill those tiny holes nice and straight using a Bridgport mill vs a hand drill : )
But, if'n ya wanna come up to Waukesha with those bolts, I'd be happy to drill 'em for ya.

Steve, Half the fun is drilling them in place, snapping the bit, ripping your knuckle, saying some choice words, drinking a beer and moving on to the next one: )

Jason, did you get an email from Learning Curves about where they'd like us to set up? I guess near the Tire Garage, Tech Inspection area. We may have to set up a little ways away from "Buell Alley.}

We're leaving around 4
As far as set up goes, I'm sure they'd just like your bike somewhere near so it doesn't take you 15min to get to you bike and get to the track for your track time.
you could always set up where ever and park the bike nearby. We won't see you guys much except for lunch and riding around the track.
If you need any help I'll be available, I'll be racing race #1 & 2 on saturday and #1 and 14 on sunday.

Rocco, I'll probably leave straight from work again since it really doesn't make sense to go all the way home and then all the way back out. I think Heather will probably come out and meet me there and then we'll head down. Anyway, it's a little after 11 and I'm finally set to go minus safety wire (holes are drilled). Even made a little pigtail to plug into the sidestand switch connector so I didn't have to cut any wires and can return it to functional right quick.

Should be a really fun weekend with everybody out there--plus all of the kids : ) Hey Rocco, Tell Jonathan that we'll make smores Saturday night. I'm going to see if we can take William's pocket rocket out there...Maybe take it out on the track ; ) I'm going grocery shopping soon to get a bunch of goodies. I'll see you all soon!!

BTW, It would be nice if Jason could get a "track only" bike. Gotta admit, it was kinda nerve-racking with Jason drilling holes in my bike last night, with the occasional "f*ck me!" going on in the garage--and it wasn't a request...

Hellion, just to let you know, pit bikes are allowed, but, due to idiots not obeying the rules, they are to be parked 30min. after the final race of the day. Anyone not with a valid drivers lic. is not allowed to operate at anytime : (
This bums my girls, but those are the rules, and the idiots are still there so I expect pit bikes to be banned sometime in the future

You know the way it is, punnish the good!

We bring our atv's, but are limited on hauling this weekend, so I think we're going to bring Sara's little one for the big kids (Kelli & I)
to use: )
My advice is bring it! you'll get alot of use out of it!

Jason, it would have taken less time, and a LOT less stress to have brought those bolts up to me, and have me drill thru 'em : )

That may very well be true Hellion. But, it's always best to use the proper tool for the job : )

And when I have over a $1M in machine shop equipment at my disposal, I have the proper tools. Could have done it with no stress, and no broken drills in a fraction of the time : )

It didn't take all that long to do, and actually it was going quite well. I pulled the drain plug and zipped right through it (primary fluid could stand to be changed anyway). The first primary bolt went without a hitch as well (even while in place). I hadn't even broken a drill bit. I believe I mentioned that to Heather (big mistake). The next bolt cost me one bit starting it, another 2 bits drilling the first bit out, another for I don't know why and then another I presume due to a celebratory "I've-made-it-through-so-now-I-must-break" move perhaps equivalent to spiking the ball after a touchdown.

When drill small holes. *NEVER* say a word how well it's going, till it's done : )

I've recently had a job where I had to drill 156 .056" holes 2" deep. 1 Drill is all it took. And wouldncha know it. The *LAST* hole, it broke!

I didn't want to, but she wandered out in the garage and asked. I probably should have told her to back in the house and come out in another 5 minutes and ask again, but in the interest of not wanting to be rude, I decided that the consequences of broken drills are much more palatable.
