Bob....
Wanted to post a quick note saying that still planning on Border Raid and plan to tag along up there w/Mike and Kim.

Mike....
Nice picture, bud. You're laughing on the inside, I can tell.

If folks have extra room in BC, may be looking for sympathy for a Triumph-owning non-snorer. Will chip in for tequila (or kamikazes).

(Still having shivers from hearing Springsteen and his wife sing "Empty Sky" in concert last night....WOW).

Michael,

The pictures you post on the BadWeB have to be smaller than a certain size. I don’t remember exactly what that size is though, I think maybe 40K.

First of all, most pictures are "smaller" if you save them as a .JPG file (the same file in .BMP format would be huge). After you save the photo as a .JPG you should CROP the photo to show only the area of the photo you really want to show.

Next, you can download and use "Image Optimizer" to reduce the quality (and, therefore, size) of your finished .JPG photo. Most photo’s look OK on a computer screen when you save them at 60% quality and 40% extra compression.

After you get the finished photo on your hard drive you type "\ image {name of photo}" (without the quotes or extra spaces) (use the "\" symbol, not "/", and "{" & "}" not "(" & " )" ). Then POST the message. Next, you BROUSE to find where you saved the photo on your hard drive. Then click upload. Follow the directions. Bingo!

Anyone in the Vancouver area interested in going for a ride next Tuesday night? I have to stop by Deeley's before they close to get my TPS adjusted. Sounds like I have to leave work a little early to make it, but some sacrifices have to be made. I was thinking about going out to Harrison the back way and have a

I have to put a few miles on to break in a new primary chain so I can adjust it before Border Raid.

Well do you guys remember the traffic tickets Matt and I received in Winthrop Wa.. The double dose of 40 in a 25. Learned a big lesson in always have a good lawer, but it still costs you. She got Matt and I a court hearing over the phone so no driving 12hrs no missed work no tickets on our driving record total damage -- lawer and all $414. Matt got off $64 less. You know he is the tightwad or should I say good twin. Mike

Well I guess the ticket thing worked out ok. Apparently everybody thought I was actually on the phone for our conference call when in fact I was redialing the phone for 50 minutes solid only to hear the busy signal. Oh well!

Tomorrow I pull the plug on the computer for the move so I'll be off line for a bit. I'll check back in after we get settled in down south. I hope to ride with you guys again sometime and I'll still keep tabs on you here. I will miss our gatherings at the Swiss so tip one back for me next time you go. By the way, anytime you guys plan a ride through Northern CA give me a heads up and I'll meet you somewhere along the way. Or you can hang out at my place.

Take care and ride safe (and ticket free) on Border Raid,

Matt

I hope we will get down to see you, we've already talked about loading up Mikes bike and making trips down so you two can ride and the kids can play.

You're the Best Brother-in-law Man I ever had! Miss you already :(

Shooter, all the info on border raid is now in the archives in August. The whole route is posted and info for hotels.
Paul, you are the first to ask, so the rooms yours. I believe Duane, Galen, and Roadrash will keep you warm. How's the new ride?
I have to comment on what Bob spoke about regarding the future of Buell. First, Bob is only commenting on what he's heard and I'm sure he's not making it up. Harley is not trying to make Buell fail. We all know that the future of HD may depend partialy on Buell riders today. One problem I see is some of the Buell retailers could'nt care less about Buell, and they're the ones that'll fail in time.
Buell should have held back from showing off the XB9R last year and introduced it this year. Buell wanted to make sure that absolutly no issue's arrise with the XB and would'nt release it until it's ready. Sport bike riders are not loyal like the riders of HD. I only wish that the tube frame models were more reliable so we could maintain that loyalty and grow with that customer. Unfortunatley what has happened has, and we can't go back. All of you who have switched to other brands may return some day. I do hope that the Buell Motor Company has treated you well, and that you'll remember this in the future when things are'nt going so well with your new ride. I also hope that the retailers who have given customers greif will have their act together for when you return. Buell is the leader of street-fighters and I'm sure this will stay this way. No other company I know of shares the design features that Buells have because Buell pioneered it. Buell will change the world of sportbikes and I'm sure of it. The 60's gave us small displacement British bikes. The 70's, flexible Jap bikes with power. The 80's, even more power with flexy frames. The 90's, more power with bikes that handle. For this generation we'll probably cap the power to something that's useable, and concentrate on weight and handling.
2002 has been a tough year for Buell because information is so easy for people to get, and they shy away when they see Buells track record. Buell will set a new bench mark, and who cares if the other manufactures don't follow. I'd be quite happy for the "big four" to fight over who's the fastest and who makes the most HP. Ride a Firebolt and you'll see what I mean. I do agree with people who say it could use some more power, but you only need it when your dragging an overseas bike. Put a firebolt against any other street bike through a corner, and you will come out first. Eventualy people will get it, but first, retailers have to know what Buell is about and how to sell them. Some retailers are in the business for the money with no concern about their future. Unfortunatly when people think Buell, they think of there retailer. The Motor Company is behind Buell and I should know, I've been with Buell since 95 and been with HD since 1990. I depend on Buell for a living and I'm close with many people from the company. Erik just dropped me a line a couple of days ago and we had a good chat in July at the NMAM.
Bob, I did the same as you a couple of weeks ago and my knee bruised up the size of a small pizza. I'll say no more and let you figure it out. For those who know me and are comming up on the Friday for Border Raid, I have a spare room and a couple of couches if you need.
See ya at Border Raid.

I do have a question for you, though. In the museum are there any RSS1200's?

Stu,
Thanks for the reservation. I do like the Triumph alot. There are things that the Buell had that the Triumph is lacking, but the main issue is I have confidence in this bike and I had lost confidence in the Buell. During SPLASH all I could think about was "is the bike gonna break?" The bike never let me down but it seemed Buells all around me were dropping like flies with major mechanical problems. I will say this....If I lived near Vancouver BC, I might have kept the bike. My experience with you and Modesto Buell was with out question the best service and the most confidence inspiring. It's too bad that the other dealers in the Pacific Northwest just don't get it. The Buell is still siting next to the Triumph and every day I go out and fire up the black bike, I look at the Buell and feel like I'm ignoring an old friend. I miss her.

On another note..
Can someone call Duane and Galen and let them know they have a place to stay on day 2 ?
Thanks...
