Jose, wanted to lead a down there on Sunday, but he's doing a track day at VIR instead. He asked me do lead the ride. I have a decent twisty ride to get there. Who else wants to go?

I'll be at the MD/DE Hog Rally on Saturday, participating in the HOGS vs PIGS skills competition. On my VRod. Stop by and say hello.

Sunday is the track day at VIR, so I'll miss the drag races as Paul mentions.

WERA National Points Battles Heat Up as Series Heads to Summit Point

SUMMIT POINT, W. Va. – The hot summer weather is no match for the points battles shaping up in the WERA National Series as round seven gets underway this weekend, August 6-7, at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia.

The WERA Dunlop National Endurance Series begins the weekend of racing with a six-hour race on Saturday, July 6, beginning at 11:15 a.m.

Vesrah Suzuki still leads the overall championship, but Team Velocity Racing has won the previous two rounds. Only 10.385 points separate the two teams. Team Velocity won at Summit Point last season, while Vesrah had uncharacteristic problems during the race. Vesrah hopes to turn the tables this year and pull a bigger gap over the rest of the championship contenders.

The Mediumweight Superbike class points chase is even closer, with just 7.83 points between class leader Army of Darkness and newcomer Red Star. Army of Darkness is the defending multi-time champion, while Red Star is in their rookie season as a team.

Sunday, August 7 will feature the WERA Michelin National Challenge Series eight-lap sprint races, which get underway at 12:30 p.m.

A number of National Challenge Series competitors are locked in tight battles for class championships. The closest is in 600 Superstock, where Mark Junge leads his teammate John Jacobi by just three points. In Lightweight Twins Superstock, Chris Parrish is holding onto his lead by just seven points. Open Superstock is one of the top classes in the series, and after six rounds Ben Thompson is leading by 12 points over Junge.

Tickets for the WERA National Series at Summit Point are $25 for Friday’s practice day and the two days of racing, and $15 for Sunday only. Camping is also available. More information about the track, including driving directions, can be found at www.SummitPoint-Raceway.com.

Fans can keep up with all of the WERA National Series championships at www.WERA.com .

its really amazing what 2 years of riding experiece and over 25k miles of riding does to one's skills. I remeber when i just had my firebolt and i got a lot of crap from my YAMI haha, su-suckie, and kawa-sukie roders about why i would own a slow bike like a buell. I think a lot to this truth is the fact that there are not to many buells on the road still and if people don't hear of buell in the GP then they think its a slow bike. i keep reminding people why would you need a bike that does 160mph or 18o when the speed limit is 65 at most. as i continued riding i have improved on my skills and awareness and somehow the foreign bikes do not seem to dissapear to a dot when they are riding in front of me. suddenly i am asked to join more rides and the fact i have a buell is not an issue anymore.
I am not saying this to promote speeding or wreckless riding, but just to point out that to the comon rider, if you can keep up with them or pass them and they sudenly get a respect for the bike.
I went on a ride this weekend with a Ducati group, its funny how the philosophy fo those riders are so common to buell riders. its not about how fast you can go but how you can make that bike ride like if it was on rails.
by the way i have spotted 4 different xb12r in the NOVA area, go Buell.

It's also amazing how many people will roll their windows down from their cages or pull up on their rice rockets and look over, hear that typical Harley rumble on steroids from my little X-1 and compliment me on how sweet that this looks over a typical full faired sport bike.

It has happened several times on the highway where I'll see a guy on a sport bike come up on me when I'm running about 65-70 and they pull up pass, slow down and get behind me just to listen to that sweet sweet sound. It's even better when they see me riding with my open face helmet.. lol

Special Flag Room Promotion, Fan Party on Tap for Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals at VIR PDF Print E-mail
Alton, Va. (August 16) - The new promoters of the Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals at VIRginia International Raceway, Race Promotion Management (RPM), are offering a special Flag Room Promotion in connection with the upcoming event, featuring the AMA Superbike Championship presented by Parts Unlimited, scheduled for the weekend of August 26-28.

The Flag Room advance ticket package, priced at $140, is the ultimate way to attend the Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals. The package includes three-day admission, paddock access, a car parking pass, an official event program and hospitality on Saturday and Sunday. RPM has decided to sweeten the deal by throwing in a free Pit Walk Pass (a $30 value) for all Flag Room ticket holders.

The Flag Room will be situated in the large banquet hall located above the Pagoda Grill in the paddock, and features a large viewing balcony overlooking Turn 3, one of the most action-packed corners on the 2.25-mile VIR North Course. The Pit Walk Pass allows holders unlimited access to the cold pits during all practice and qualifying sessions, provided closed-toe shoes are worn for safety purposes.

"If you love Superbike racing," said RPM vice president Cameron Gray, "and you really want the total experience, the Flag Room package for the Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals is the way to go. You get the most access, the best accommodations, everything that there is available in one package at a discount price. This is going to be the best Superbike weekend of the year, and the Flag Room package is the best way to see it all."

Fans are reminded to keep their schedules open for Friday night, August 26, as RPM, VIR and Speed Channel will be presenting the Big Kahuna Friday Night Fan Party in the paddock. From 6:00-10:00 pm, the Speed Channel Mobile Marketing Unit will be the centerpiece of the action, with Speed Channel personality Ralph Sheheen, who will serve as the weekend's public address announcer, hosting the festivities. There will be food and beverage specials, a cash bar, umbrella girls, great prize giveaways and free Red Bull for the fans. From 6:00-8:00 pm, a number of top riders from the AMA Superbike Championship will be available for interviews and autographs, and at 8:00 pm Red Bull will present a special showing of the Moto GP movie "Faster," which will be shown on the Speed Channel Mobile Marketing Unit's theater and television screens as well as on the two trackside Jumbotron units.

"Fans who have attended Superbike races at VIR before are going to be in for a shock," said Gray. "What we have planned for this year's Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals is going to kick this event into the stratosphere. With the variety of ticket packages, the fan party, the Jumbotron screens, the live music on Saturday and Sunday from Moonshine Still, the stunt bike shows by Jason Britton's Team No Limit Xtreme Stunt Show and the kids' play area provided by Kidz Jump Inc., not to mention three days of the best motorcycle racing in America, this is going to be the best Superbike event of the year. Ticket sales have been phenomenal, and we're sure it's going to be the biggest crowd in VIR's long history. We can't wait for the weekend to get here."

There are a number of advance ticket packages available for the Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals at VIR. In addition to the Flag Room package described above, other packages include the Youth Flag Room (5-12 years of age) for $50; the Big Kahuna Super Ticket (three-day admission, paddock and pit walk pass, lap of track, car parking pass and official 2005 Big Kahuna t-shirt) for $99; three-day general admission with paddock access for $55; and pit walk passes (limited availability, good for all practice and qualifying sessions, requires closed-toe shoes) for $30. At the gate, ticket availability will be limited to three-day passes for $60, single-day tickets (Friday only) for $10 and pit walk passes for $40.

To purchase advance tickets, visit www.virclub.com or www.rpmcolorado.com.

The event schedule for the Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals will include three days of racing action, including two feature races for the headlining AMA Superbike Championship presented by Parts Unlimited as well as feature races for the supporting classes including the Pro Honda Oils Supersport Championship presented by Shoei, AMA Repsol Lubricants Superstock Series and Lockhart Phillips USA Formula Xtreme Series.

VIRginia International Raceway is a multi-purpose road racing facility, located on the Dan River between Danville and South Boston, Va., and just north of historic Milton, N.C. In addition to its 3.27-mile natural-terrain road racing circuit (designed to be operated as two autonomous, full-service courses), VIR is the cornerstone of VIR Club, America's first motorsports country club; the VIR Raceplex Industrial Park; the VIR Gallery, which is a sales showroom for high-end collector and racing cars; the VIR Safety and Security Institute, which provides specialized training for U.S. Government and military groups; The Lodge at VIR, a 27-room hotel overlooking the track; and the Oak Tree Tavern, a full-service restaurant located within the circa-1840 Plantation
Clubhouse.

VIR made history from 1957 to 1974 and is doing so again. The 2.25-mile VIR North Course circuit on which the Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals will take place has 17 challenging turns and 130 feet of elevation change. In addition to spectator events, the track is also available to rent for testing, driving schools and club days.
