Thanks Bob
Your post showed just after I sent the email.

One last try, just in case there is anyone on the Kipsap Penninsula, Seattle, or north of Seattle who is going to Bob's and would like to hook up Friday morning for the ride down. Email me and I'll join you. Hate to ride alone.

The SPLASH ride is almost up on us, so some fresh rubber is needed for the ride. Better get it done soon, yesterday seemed like a good day. No problem, just pull the wheels off over lunch and have the wife drop them at Cycle Gear in the afternoon. I’ll have Thursday evening to clean and polish so that it looks pretty for the Friday BBQ.

After an enjoyable ride to work yesterday morning, I saw a small puddle of oil sitting on top of the starter, oh shit that doesn’t belong there. With gravity still in effect I look above the puddle to see the rear jug gently weeping from the lower rocker box, damn it! Below is what my bike currently looks like:

Prep for SPLASH

The wife got busy and blew off my rubber update, but it’s getting done this morning. Called Destination and they have the lower box gasket in stock. It’s the new metal version for $4.60, yippee! I’ll slap it back together tonight so I can make the Friday BBQ. I may be a bit dirty, but with a little luck I'll see everyone there!

HOWEVER I WILL BE FUNCTIONING FOR DONNER, AND THE BOARDER RAID. HAVE TOO MUCH FUN AND KEEP THE RUBBER SIDE DOWN!....GALEN OUT!

Hey Ray,
If I were you I wouldn't put up with any crap from Ed's house of steal.
There is NO reason for them to take this long with an esimate on either of the bikes.
Go down there and get in their face, man!

Spud Dog, Don't forget to top off the oil when your finished. See you Friday.

Shooter, are we going to see you? If SPLASH isn't on your itinerary, OMRRA is going strong this weekend at PIR.
I'll have a burger on the grill for you.

Chris 'n' Loni,
We got a truck load of groceries

Hopefully somebody will check the board in the morning......I lost my low beam tonight (Can't find it anywhere) Does anybody know if I can pick up a bulb in the morning on the way to Woodland, or do I have to replace the whole headlamp?

It was dark and I couldn't see..

Brandon I'll call you in the morning.

Well after a late night it all came together. As I stood back and wiped my tired eyes with a grease stained hand in awe of my accomplishment, I realized the rear tire looks funny. Oh it’s on and aligned correctly but something about it just didn’t look right . Shit I’m just tired, go to bed.

I wake up early this morning to do the work work I neglected for my bike work last night, then it hits me. I go look at the rear tire, sure enough that’s it. The rear tire is mounted backwards, the direction arrow on the side is pointing in the wrong direction, damn damn damn . The D207 tread pattern is upside down, that’s what looked strange to me last night.

The rear wheel is off and back at the shop for a quick turn-around this morning. I’m going to skip out early today to put the wheel back on and hopefully make the 5PM BBQ in Woodland, hotdogs served by Loni who could miss it. Oh yea, I should think about packing too.

My favorite tire place put one on backwards for me too.

My mother, my very own dear sweet mother, whom I don't get along with worth a S***, says "It's a matter of who wants what the worst!" The guy at the tire store wants to do a good job and get your tire on right but he’s getting paid $8.00 per hour and he gets off work in 10 minutes and doesn't want it to be right nearly as much as you do. Which, according to Mom makes it your responsibility to stand over the tire guy and make sure he gets it on right. Mothers can be such a pain.

I'm glad you caught it. Honest question: What difference would it have made really? Can you prove it?

I trimmed about 100 feet of hedge yesterday and then made a trip to the city dump to put the leaves in the compost pile and recycle a bunch of cardboard and newspapers. Today my wife and I are enjoying each others company while we repaint the upstairs bathroom and install a pedestal sink, new vanity mirror and toilet seat. Tomorrow I plan to mow the lawn and edge the sidewalks. It was about 78º today, clear skies and a light breeze out of the north and I think everybody that's out riding a motorcycle and having a good time sucks.
