It's official. The Zia Thunder chapter of BRAG had its first meeting on January 4th. We elected officers and are getting all our "technicalities" out of the way.

If anyone is in New Mexico and wants to ride with us, drop me a line at: ghostrider@furryclan.net.

More info when we have it!

Congrats ghost on getting a BRAG group organized. I'm sure I'll be in and out of your area throughout the year, even if I am in AZ. I'll keep an eye here and try to make some of your runs.

Good luck with your BRAG! I used to live in Albuquerque and was lucky enough to be there for your last snow storm.

Come fall, you should have a chili run through the Valley,Rio Rancho, up to Santa Fe, around the back side of the Sandia's and down the Canyon. I have about a months worth of chili's left in the freezer from my Brothers harvest...I may have to ride out and tag along!!

Ghostrider & Zia Thunder: We (Colorado Thunder Club) are having our first ride of the season, the second annual, "High Plains Ride." The ride takes place on the 28th of March (sorry about the short notice)and we leave from Rocky Mountain Buell at 10:00 am sharp! This is a great ride through some of the twistest roads the front range has to offer. We are based out of Littleton Colorado (metro Denver) and are the only active (and first) chapter in Colorado. We plan on attending Chick's rally in mass this summer. We would really love to have you and any members attend our rides this spring/summer/fall (we had 14 scheduled rides last year!) that criss-cross all four corners of our state. Our website will be up and operating again in about 2 weeks (we are changing hosting providers) and we will have our entire schedule for the year on it. We are also hosting a BattleTrax on June 12th (Saturday). Last years event was a huge success with comments from Reg Kitrelle saying it was one of the best BattleTrax he had ever had. We are looking for a BIG turnout this year as we had over 30 participants last year. Please feel free to contact me at (303) 703-2842 with any questions which would make it easier for you and your members to attend our events! Thanks and welcome to the southwest }}}B.R.A.G. family!

Thanks for the interest. We definitely have some wicked twisties up this way and would love to give you a grand tour. We are trying to get the website back up and running in the next couple of weeks (coloradothunderclub.com) and it will have our entire schedule for the upcoming season. Including the BattleTrax on June 12th! Hope some of you can make it! Anytime you or the gang are up this way, be sure to stop in and say hello at Rocky Mountain Buell.

Sorry for the delay in replying...my computer crapped out on me and I only just got it going again.

We'd love to come up there and ride with the Colorado Thunder Club. In fact, we're counting on it. Most of our members are in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe area. While we are sponsored by Santa Fe Harley, we will also be at Chick's annual event this summer.

We're currently working on our website: http://www.ziathunder.com and hope to have it up within a week or two.

Unfortunately for me, I'll be in Chicago on the 28th. But I'll post a message to our crew to see if anyone else is interested in going up. Once we see what your schedule is like, I'm sure we'll plan at least one event with you guys. We don't have a schedule ready yet as we're still getting settled. We've only got 4 official members, but 20 names on the calling list and working on getting them all registered.

Our sponsoring dealership just changed ownership, too. So we'll be getting squared away with the new owners this week.

Bart: Good to hear from you again. I saw your S2 when Murrae had it up here. He indicated that you were going to try to fix it. Any luck? Hope to see you when you can get up this way. Email one of us to warn us when you're coming and we'll get a ride going!

Ghost,
the blue S2 will live again.
I've also purchased another (red) S2 that Murrae dropped a Nallin stage 2 kit into. Still breaking it in at the moment. I also picked up a '98 S1W. Amazing what can happen when you lose a Buell!
I'm doing the Brag wine and dine ride in Calif this May, and plan on many rides through NM and CO this summer. It's just too darn cold up there for my Arizona blood right now!
Buellpartsman1,
Hope to meet ya and do some riding when I'm up there this summer.

Bartimus: Will welcome the chance to meet you face to face. I am all about promoting and furthering the Buell cause. We are starting to really move the new Buells and hoping to build the membership in Colorado Thunder Club in the coming months. Buells are alive and well in the front range of the Colorado Rockies. Please come up and visit us at Rocky Mountain Buell! We are the only "Buell Friendly" dealership on the Eastern Side of the Colorado Rockies. We will be the host of the 2005 B.R.A.G. Western Regional Rally. Hope to see you at one of our events this season......please go take a look at www.coloradothunderclub.com and take a look at the "events" area to see what we have coming up!

Too cool Buellpartsman1,

Last time I was up in your area, I noticed my rear shock lock ring had come loose and had no tool to tighten it with. I had just come down out of Estes park and was going through Lyons, CO. Stopped at a custom HD shop called RedHill motorcycle Werx. These guys were all google eyed over my Blue S2, and treated me like a god. Nice shop! They had heard of Buells, but never saw a tuber up close, and were very impressed with the wheelies I pulled just to show off a little, : )

It is good to hear about Buell friendly dealerships. Keep up the good work!

Checked out your website, but no links were available. : (
It said the website is coming soon, stay tuned for details.

Bartimus, Sorry for the delay in replying. Too much stuff going on. I've never been by Red Hill Motorcycle Werx but have visited their booth at the swap meet. Good people. Apologies for the website, our IT guy is getting it put together right now. The site should be up and running by the middle of next week. I got a preview this morning and it looks really good so far! Can't wait to get out and ride - my M2 is in the garage in pieces. I'm installing the Baker Smooth Shift Kit and the alum. 26 tooth pulley. Also installing the updated swingarm isolators. Look forward to riding with you soon!

Buellpartsman1,

I just heard that the brag adventure in Colorado is cancelled this year. : (
What's up with that?

Let me know how the performance is after you install that 26 toth pulley.

Bartimus,
The Durango adventure is still listed on the Buell website. Where did you see that it was to be cancelled? Several of us from Austin were planning to make the trek for that one!

Bartimus/Buellerthanyou, Unfortunately it is true. The Durango rally is a no go. Durango doesn't sell Buells so B.R.A.G. pulled it. I spoke with Peggy U. (national B.R.A.G. director) and we were going to try to move it here to the Denver metro area. In the end, Peggy decided there was not enough preparation time to have the event actually work. So, if you want to come ride Colorado, you have an open invitation to come ride with us at Colorado Thunder Club. Just give us a shout when you are coming up. Check the website, www.coloradothunderclub.com , as we will have our schedule posted in the next week. Thanks!

Kerrville doesn't sell Buells either. Better not make any plans just yet.

Kerrville is not in any danger. BRAG has been working with Austin H-D/Buell and Central Texas H-D/Buell on this one and they both still support the cause. I wouldn't worry about it. Heck, even if they do, we can just pick up the ball and run with it for Thrills In The Hills IV!

Anybody wanting a little Buell riding action: Colorado Thunder Club will be having its second annual "Bishop's Castle Ride" on April 25th. It starts at Morrison, Colorado where we will eat breakfast at Red Rocks Bar & Grill. We will leave from there for the 300 mile (approx) roundtrip to/from Bishop's Castle. Last year we had 24 bikes (a great turn out). We hope to see you all here! If you need more info on lodging (or anything else for that matter) please contact Buellpartsman1 at (303) 703-2842.

Can anyone put together a ride for May 1st or 2nd? I'll be in from Phoenix with my M2. I'm looking for a rental or loaner for racer George from Illinois to ride with us. We'll be at Chicks Friday night showing Georges vintage flat trackers (WR & KR)and will be racing Sunday night. See AHMRA.com or .org?(antique motorcycle racing web page). If no rides or limited rides come through we'll be working or watching the vintage roadracing series on Sat and Sunday.

Billc: I wish you guys were going to be up our way...May 2nd is our First Sunday of the month breakfast & ride. I know one of our fine Buell gentleman with more than one Buell wouldn't mind letting racer george borrow one of their Buells for the ride. Anyway....if you guys can make it up to Denver, let us know. Our hospitality knows no bounds! Contact Buellpartsman1 @ (303) 703-2842 if you are intersted.

A group of Arizona riders will be riding the old Torque-fest route on July 17, 18,19th. We'll be meeting up in Showlow, AZ on the eve of the 17th. Riding the loop through Alpin, down to Glenwood, and over to Clifton/Morienci, and then on up Hwy 191, and back to Showlow.
We'll be stopping at Daryl's plaque to pay our respects.
Anyone interested in meeting us in Showlow, check out the AZ thread as the dates get close.

You are absolutely right! I've not checked in here for some time and would've liked to go on that ride.

We just returned from Chick's Taos Rally and were thoroughly outnumbered by the Colorado Thunder Club crew. Overall it was a good ride, no rain, good food, good company, and only one minor incident.

I did finally get our website going: http://www.ziathunder.com and I'll be working on it in the near future to put up a calendar for the remainder of 2004 and all of 2005. Murrae and I will be setting up some more meetings/rides soon. I'll keep everyone here posted.

Bart - Good to see you in Santa Fe. Hope you get to feeling better. Let's try to get a ride in southern NM before the fall. Perhaps Ruidoso?

Was good seeing you again.
Ruidosa sounds good. They have the Motorcycle festival in October... It does get kind of cold then though. I'll keep an eye out here for any rides you guys may have.
Another ride south of Springerville may be in the works over here for the middle of September.
I'm trying to gain back some weight, and get my health back. I should be able to ride again in a few weeks.
