I can suggest a few restaurants, that is if I can remember how to get to them by land!!

What we need is exactly that...Restaurants and more importantly, a place for us to stay...Does anyone know of a motel that is bike friendly at the Lake?...Preferred would be one of the "old" style places where you can park the scoot in front of your door...

See Ya!

Bob,
Here are a few suggestions.

Maggie Mai's is on the main strip. It has great food. Little more upscale. but well worth the stop.

Dockknockers. great fried and bar type food at a reasonable price. kinda of off the beaten path by vehicle. I would have to find it by land. its in the 4 mile marker area by water.

Horny Toad used to have a very good breakfast buffet till about 11. it is pretty easy to find. mile 7 1/2 by water.

Backwater Jacks has very good food. I had a very good soft shell crab sandwich there last summer. They also have something called fried pototoe salad which is very good. has a very good atmosphere. mixture of indoor and outdoor tables. I have actually seen bikes at this one.

There is also this little place off the beaten path that you have to buy your beer outside. You take it inside and the bartender holds it until you are ready for it. I don't know about the food but the women I mean atmosphere is real good!

Those are just a few suggestions that I could come up with.

Maybe Paul can come up with a few ideas on restaurants or accomodations? I know he was down there once last summer.

Let me check on the overnight arrangements. I have two different friends with houses down there and another two friends that have condo's down there. The houses are probably out of the question (never know till you check) but I might be able to get a real good price on one of the condo's. might be a little tough since our anual "boys weekend" is the following weekend.

I'll check into it today.

Keith

p.s. I hear they serve a real good burger in "Party Cove" and WOW the atmosphere!

Bob, ...I'm planning on going on the Lake trip, leaving Saturday. I'm also going down this weekend. I'll keep an eye out and ask around about a hotel.

That's great Paul...Try and stay away from the more congested areas for obvious reasons...And as I said above, the old style "mom and pop" motel with outside doors on one level would be best but it still must be clean...That's about my only requirement, clean...Uh, a pool would be a plus in July...Thanks again, Paul...

See Ya!

Paul, you made me think (painfull)...I was going to ride down to AR this evening and ride back tomorrow...Instead, I called my sis and they are not using the condo as I had thought so I'm off for the Lake...Just checking the radar now to see what to expect on the way down other that a bunch of traffic...I'll be at the Knolls #223 later this evening...Will let you know what I locate tomorrow as to a motel, etc...

See Ya!

the houses i checked on are out, I kind of figured they would be. One of the condo's is allready in use. I am still trying to get ahold of the other, I think they are down there this week.

I'm thinking that the Camdenton area would be good for us.

Hi Pat and welcome to Buellaland...I hope you can make it tomorrow...The ride is usually to a lunch location and will leave Chesterfield Valley Powersports at 9...The morning portion of the ride is normally from 100 to 150 miles...I can't promise, but I think we're going to Bixby MO tomorrow...One of my favorite places...I usually try to get there 8:15ish or so inorder to kick tires and look at John's new ST1300...We usually divide up into about three groups consisting of the racer-ricky's to the more sport touring types...I would suggest that on your first ride you hang back a bit to get the feel of the various riders...Quite a few of these bozos have done more than one track day and it's easy for a newbie to get sucked into a bad situation following R1Jeff or some such...I'll be riding Pumpkin, my S3T...If you see someone whose dominate color scheme is orange, that be me...My first Buell was a M2 like yours...

Okay boys and girls...I'm back from the Lake...Paul, I read you post re Camdenton and actually that area also works best for me...The problem is that the better riding is on the less populated north shore so I was leaning to setting us up there...What say you all?...

See Ya!

Bob

Pat...Hope you had a fun and safe ride...Quite eventful from what I heard last evening the the "parti" at Radcliff's...Check this out fellow Buellers...Ron Walkup's new CBR954RR holes a radiator...Antonio hits gravel, gets the bike mostly stopped before performing a graceful low side...Mike O'Brien does a Bob and discovers his front tire has a new white stripe around the middle...And he's in the middle of the Mark Twain National Forest...Me, I didn't make it out of the parking lot at CVPS as my rear tire was toast and by the time I got to Widman, it was showing cord...But the best was Tim Hall who flatted his front well past the ton (like 120 mph) on his Daytona...They shot him up with CO2 and he was able to limp onto Bixby...And then the really strange thing...The tire stayed up and didn't loose a bit of air the rest of the ride...Speculation is that he didn't have a valve cap on the front and that centrifugal force opened the valve at that speed...And then, to top it all off, two were busted and ticketed in Chesterfield on the way home...

So, all in all, I'd be surprised if we ever hear from Pat again...He has to think we're a bunch of jinxed crazies...

John, the 220's would not have made the entire California ride so it's a good thing we didn't go...

Kevin, thanks again for yesterday...

See Ya!

Bob

Well bob I had a fun time on the ride. Any time that many things go wrong and im not involved it has to be a good ride. Me and a group of three other riders including Antonio after hi fall got pulled over just out of Bixby, we were all let go by a very nice Harley riden cop.

After we ate I figured id fallow ron(954 with hole in radiator) and tim( hole in front tire) back home. For a guy who wasnt sure if that front tire was going to make it he sure didnt make it easy for me to keep up. those guys are fast.

Ill make another ride for sure, Id like to meet up with the SLAB people as well and talk Buells.

Pat, you will have your chance to meet some more of us on our Third Sunday ride in July...We are planning on riding to the Lake of the Ozarks to meet a few of the KC Buellers and also Keith and Heather are coming down from Quincy...

To wit I need to know who is planning on making this run and especially who will be riding down Saturday so that I can talk to the motels in the Camdenton area...I need this info as soon as possible so that we can begin the reservation process...Please post your intentions here...There are a few "older" motels in Camdenton that will work for us if we act right away...

See Ya!

Bob, ...I checked out four places. One is too close to Osage Beach.

The rest are spread out along 5, in Camdenton (Lan-O-Lak Motel), a couple miles before the first Bridge (El Kay Lake View Motel), and just past the second bridge (Deepwater Inn). All have, parking in front of rooms and a pool.

Deepwater looks pretty good. Just up the street are a Bar & Grill, Mexican Restaurant, and a Gentlemen's Club. Beer, Burritos, and Babes. Or for John; soda, tacos and more tacos.

El Kay is a little more isolated. The old bird running the place let me know that she didn’t appreciate how many times I rang the bell. I like her. Oh, I’ll apologize now if we go there and she’s younger than a few of you guys.

Deepwater and El Kay should also be fairly accessible from K.C.

Bob, ...Give me a call for more input on layout.
