So I ask Al 'what class is the kid in?', to which he replys 'he's in a class of his own'. Don't recall his exact times -- somewhere in the 33-34 second range (a couple ticks quicker than the fast guys).

45 pictures, resized, cropped & compressed -- just need to whip a page together -- tomorrow.

I think Ben with that Yam 125 was doing high 33's. thats what pushed Cory to go faster at the end.

Mike,

What did I do in practice before I crashed? I thought I had a 39 something(my only 39 all day).

Court,

It was a great time, and it was FREEEEEEE!!!!!

That was my best Battletrax to date, even though I crashed. I felt the most comfortable and was able to push harder than at the previous events. It was fun to hear myself scrape the pegs all the way around the track.

Mike Y.'s track had an excellent layout, it "flowed" well and had plenty of room.

I'll catch Neil eventually. His bike only has 7000 miles on it, but most of those have been at Battletrax!

IMHO, Battletrax is the most fun you can have on your bike, but it is very difficult to get people to do it.

It takes a certain amount of confidence in yourself and your motorcycle skills to go out there in front of everybody. The most common comment I hear is "I don't want to crash in front of everybody" or "I don't want to embarass myself out there"

I always tell people not to worry about their times and just work on improving their skills and have fun, but I'm the WORST at watching those lap times and getting worked up about them.

Harrisburg, PA next then? I got a nice letter from Susquahanna HD/Buell inviting me to go! I'll try to talk to the boss, Linda into letting me go........

Jose':

I agree. BattleTrax, in my opinion, has done much to provide a host of Buell owners with skills far exceeding where they otherwise would have been. Reg Kittrelle has entertained many and saved the butts of just about as many by giving REAL riders a chance to see what the teeth look like juuuuuuuuuuust before the thing bites you. It's also a good lesson in how darned "dialed in" the Buell chassis is. Many times, I've gotten myself in places I didn't belong and have learned to let the bike do the thinking. It usually serves me best. Like the old saying about how many perfectly good airplanes required a pilot to FLY them to a crash site. Positive dynamic stability is a good thing.

I was never great, but in days gone by I've done some fair S-3 laps. I do have credit for the only HD Legally sanctioned two-up run with a reporter from MotoRad on the back screamin' "FASTER" in German.

I know what you mean about crashing and therein lies another lesson. BattleTrax is a great reminder to RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE (in terms of skill level). I'd love to be a MikeY or Aaron Wilson. I love watching those boys ruin boots and grind holes in their jeans.

I have to remember that my best ride is MY best ride and that learning where "the edge" is sometimes involves stepping just over it. Sometimes we save it, sometimes we become parts customers.

I have seen Erik Buell leap into action more than once to make a hasty repair to a bike. I have yet to see anyone (there, but for the grace of God, go I.....) laugh.

You rid'em, you drop'em. I am not a proponent of the rediculous "those who have and those who will" theory, but I am a big deciple of Keith Code's "you have $1.00 to spend" thinking.

Worry about proper gear, skill and training...NOT about crashing.

Congratulations.

There's your problem Court! You've been short changing yourself. Code says you should have $10 to spend. :D

Dang, I was hoping to pick up that $9 and use it this Saturday on the course. Shoot, guess I'll just have to settle for a second or third place again.

OK, so here they are.

Mike Y., posted most I had of you ('cept 2). Take a look and see which (if any) of the originals you'd like. Remember, they range from 1.3 to 2Mb.

close to the edge, 'round every corner,

39.45

I remember that lap because I told Neil that it felt like a slow lap right after I did it.

I didn't struggle with the bike or try to fight it. It was like slow motion.

Thanks!!

Great pics on your link Steve. I wish we had battletrax this far south, looks like great fun and great people. Supposedly the Republic of Texas rally had one but I was in Wyoming during that one.
I know I'm not the only one to ask this, but after seeing it on more than one bike now, including José's, what do we have to do to get the red, white and blue Buell tank graphics? I'd love to have a set.
