Anyone out there w/in 200 miles of the MT/ND border? I'm in Lambert, MT and would love to meet and ride w/ another Buell rider just to assure myself I'm not the only one in the world.

420 is up around there somewhere, not sure if he's still on this site though but be may be lurking.
Post a ride report if you hook up with him, should be interesting.

A quiet night. The buell-frogs croak, "Buell-Buell." Off in the distance you hear a faint mechanical whine...."Bu-eeeell, Bu-eeeel, BuellBuellBuell." A headlight rounds the corner, illuminating a narrow vector of road as it speeds along.

Meanwhile, back on the bike fence-posts along the edge of the asphault rush past like cogs in a zipper. The bugs splat your face-sheild in great gooey splats. A lone deer studies the approach and contemplates sucicide, then decides against and continues grazing in the ditch.

Just another night in eastern Montana, where men are men and sheep are small fuzzy mammals (compared to buffalo) who occasionally take great abuse from their bipedal overloards.

It makes you wonder what kind of folks live in Montana. Could they be the sheep-phoquers of yore? Do people really pursue bestiality over the joys of two wheels burning up the pavement?

It boggles the mind.

Then again I could be totally off-base and making all this up.

OPENING SCENE:
A pastorial setting along a lonely stretch of higway. Cattle graze on either side of the road. A lone pheasant rooster crow in the ditch.
ACTION SHOT:
A motorcycle appears in the distance and quickly rockets by, fading just as quickly into the opposite horizion.
CLOSING SCENE:
Same as opening scene except a single tumble weed rolls across the now vacant highway.

A long time ago in a state far, far away...All the Buell riders were scared off by inordinatly straight highways. "The lack of curves sears my brain," they cried. "It's too hard." "My bike wasn't made for that kind of riding."

And so they wandered off to more suitable climes, WI, MN, anywhere south of the Mason/Dixon line. They reveled in the curves and blasted their machines through twisties like the lawless hooligans they were. The tales poured like their beer until the early morning hours.

Then one day a lone rider appeared on the horizon of those wind-swept plains. Heat shimmered mirage-like from his thundering exhaust when he blasted into town. Splattered bugs encrusted his worn leathers in a carapice of dried slime.

Young girls grew faint as he rumbled by on the street, clutching their throats and swooning into each other's arms w/ squeals of delight. He stopped at the local waterhole and backed into the curb. An unnatural silence followed when the ignition switched off.

The stranger stood there a moment, gloves and helmet off, surveying the scene. A lone tumble weed rolled passed, its skeletal limbs ticking the pavement like a thousand tiny feet. A young boy on a bicycle rounded the corner and skidded to a stop.

"Whoa!" he said. "Is that your motorsickle, mister?"

The stranger nodded.

"Cool!" The boy was obviously enthralled. "How fast is it?" he asked, easing up closer to get a better look.

The stranger offered an imperceptable shrug. "Fast enough," he said.

The boy took an exploratory lap around the machine. "Can I ride it?" he asked, his face bright w/ hope. The stranger shook his head and the boy's face fell.

Faint music swelled from inside the bar as the door opened and two men stumbled outside, blinking in the sunlight. One nudged the other and they both stared at the bike. " you?" the taller one slurred, weaving slightly from the exertion of speaking.

"Nobody you want to know," the stranger said. He edged by the drunks and went into the bar. A blue cloud of smoke hung from the ceiling and hid the patrons in a toxic haze.

"What can I do ya for?" A bar-tender appeared out of the fog.

TO BE CONTINUED.

The stranger dropped a twenty on the bar. "I'll take a Blue Ribbon," he said, then nodded toward the motely assemblege hunkered on their stools, guarding drinks as if someone might snatch them away. "And get us all one while you're at it."

The atomosphere visibley lightened at his comment. Instant smiles revealed snaggled teeth yellowed by nicotine and surrounded by sagging flesh.

"Where're ya from, honey?" A boozy gal in too-tight trousers and a faded, baggy white muscle-shirt staggered up and lay a hand on his arm. Dried bug-slime drifted off like snow onto the bar. She didn't notice.

"Down the road a piece," the stranger said and took a long pull from the sweating bottle. The malted barley coursed down his throat in three great gulps and he slammed the bottle back on to the bar-top w/ a satisfied thump. "I needed that," he said. "Gimme another."

The second beer lasted considerabley longer and three hours later found him visiting w/ his new best friends. They clustered around his table in an air of commeradierie that can only be produced by free liquor. The boozy gal had been joined by her equally inebriated girlfriend and they draped across his leather-clad shoulders w/ obvious intent.

The women were hard-used in a terrifying sort of way. Neither one could've been a day over thirty, yet both wore a century of abuse in the lines on their face. The one in the white tank-top, her name was Elvita, leaned over the table to grab her drink from a cluster of glasses and bottles stationed there.

Her action caused an errant breast to pop free of its confines. It sagged outside the low-cut sleeve like the dugs on a whelping bitch. She appeared not to notice the exposure. Nor, apparently, did anyone else.

"Uh," the stranger pointed a hesitant finger in the general direction of her withered teat. "You're hanging out there," he said.

"Oh you big flirt," she said and gave his finger a playfull slap, but made no move to remedy the exposure. Her friend watched w/ a pensive expression, then surreptitously unfastened two more buttons to reveal a generous expanse of cleavage.

THE PLOT THICKENS

Our contining stoooooory of a MT Buell rider gone awry: When last we saw our hero he was nearly accousted by an errant breast. Let us join him now to see how the fates have absolved his saga.

"Oh you big flirt." Elvita slapped his pointing finger away w/out bothering to replace her exposed breast. The stranger gulped his beer once more only to find it empty. He looked around for an easy escape and found nothing.

By this time Elvita's friend had loosened yet another button until all but the chocolate brown orbs of her nipples were revealed. "This place is sooo boring," she said. "Let's go somewhere and party."

The stranger knew then that he had to $hit or get off the pot. Fending off one amorous wench was in itself a job to be avoided, metering two w/out the benefit of backup was untenable. He slid his chair back from the table and made to stand up.

Elvita launched herself into his lap like a Brittany spaniel, landing square upon his gonads and literaly snatching his breath away. "Where'ya going, sweetie," she crooned.

"To...the...head..." he croaked, unable to muster more.

Elvita cackled like a witch in a Disney movie. Maybe I'd better go wi' ya," she said. "In case you need some help shaking it off."

The stranger tried to shake his head negative but Elvita's friend (Jonnelle, in case you're wondering) had grabbed him by the hair and thrust his face between her massive mammaries. The stranger gasped for breath, finally gaining relief in a tiny azmuth of air circulating between her sweating orbs. His ineffectual motions only inscensed the female satire and she pressed him ever more firmly into her chest.

A short time later the stranger found himself lying limp upon the floor. Wheteher it was the oxygen deprivation, or pure-D physical exhaustion he couldn't say, but one way or the other he finally found himself free of the unwanted embrace. He scrambled toward the door on all fours. Freedom's portal grew ever nearer and hope sprang in his heart like a bird gaininig flight. He'd almost gained the knob when a beefy hand on either arm hoisted him erect.

"You okay there, buddy?" The bartender peered him in the eye. "I'm not so sure I should let you be driving,' he said. "We gotta sign agreements to that effect, don't ya know?"

The stranger looked around in baffled concernation. The bar was empty. The jukebox ticked on some forgotten selection, stuck unending in the scratch of life. Empty bottles and glasses filled the table of his recollection, but not a soul was in sight.

"Wha..wha...Where'd everybody go?" he croaked.

"Everybody?" The bartender burst out laughing. "What on earth are you talking about, son? There ain't been nobody in here all afternoon." He shook his head and dragged the stranger over to a stool.

"You just sit here a minute and see if you can't get it together," he said. "And no more of that screech for you. From now on it's straight beer."

I set here in sub-zero weather, lost in hinterlands that most citizens of my own home state don't even know exist, I wonder if anyone else in Montana will in fact purchase a Buell motorcycle? I heard a rumor the other day that a lady near Froid owned a Blast but have been unable to substanciate it. Which is remarkable in that Froid only has around 85 people in their community and you'd think that if anyone had a Buell everyone would know. They certainly know everything else....

Whatever. I'll just post this troll and be on my way.

The Siberian Express rolled through last night. 40mph winds and sub-zero temps. Brought 4 or 5 inches of new snow along with it. It's hard to tell exactly how much snow actually fell since the drifts are several feet deep in spots with bare ground in between. Not really motorcycle weather.

In retrospect this is probabley why I'm the only Buell owner in Eastern Montana.

-28 here this morning (28 BELOW that is). The old S3T looks pretty lonely nestled in the garage between a Yammy and Suzy w/ no hope of use for at least another 90 days. Sigh.

I wish I may, I wish I might, I wish to ride my bike tonight. (G'dam freak'n wish-fairies are slacking today!)

Rek I feel your pain. My brother and I are from north central MT (Chinook). But we both moved to Kansas City a few years ago. We are thinking about making a trip home this year on the Buells. I'll let you know we usually go through Billings and then to Roundup through the Missouri breaks and then go through the Hays - Lodge pole area. Do you ever ride to Glacier Park, that is my most favorite place in the world, can't wait to get the Buell on those twisties.

Dudes!
Great to hear from you. My job as an organic crop inspector takes me all over the state...no less than ten farms in the Chinook area. I could probabley name some names and you'd know just who they are. (Hienbach, Schellin, Herdegen, etc.) FYI I started using the S3 as my primary inspector rig and almost always use MT Hwy 200, although for Chinook I take Hwy 2. Let me know whn you're coming through, we might be able to BS awhile, maybe even take a ride?

Sounds good Rob.

The names really don't ring a bell cause Tim and I actually grew up in Hingham, about 45 miles west of Chinook. Our folks moved their about 4 years ago, so we now use Chinook as our town of reference. If you work out in Gildford, Hingham, Rudyard,Chester areas we then probably could name some names. I'm wondering if you are the only Buell owner out there, it kinda seems that way from the reply's you've received. Anyway keep us posted and maybe we could go for a ride some time. Take care

WOW! mid 50's today. Cranked out 300(+) miles and had a great ride. Took the Lambert, Richey, Bloomfeild, Glendive and then Sidney route. Then had to totally retrace my route because of road construction on Hwy 200. Didn't get home untill an hour or so after dark. Damned deer anyway.
