Uh Oh.. I thought it was Sunday the 26th as well.. Of course, we were also supposed to hear from Blaine or someone regarding final details. Hmmmm.. if all else fails.. we'll ride Sunday anyways.. It's doable.

Greg, are you gonna call and get the final lowdown? I thought I was riding to Solomons on Saturday (a postponed SCRC run) and then with BRAG on Sunday. This is gettin' corn-fusing..

Yes, I even saw Blaine last Thurs eve when I got bike worked on, but he took off, was talking on cell phone I think, didn't see him anymore to ask him myself. All the Buell techs had went home by 5pm, so nobody to work on bike. Had made suggestion to get everybody's email, so he could email coordinates, dates, and times for trip. So I'm confused, may have to bail out as well. Forgot about weekend trips planned already at home, sorry guys. Jake

More importantly.. What did he say? How hosed up are we? Are we hosed up? Did you know where that hose was before it moved up?

Inquiring minds haven't a clue as to what I'm speaking about now.. I have got to become independantly wealthy so I don't have to worry about this silly work thing anymore..

My M2 was stolen last year and I'm looking to get rid of my Buell Vanson XR2 jacket. I'd rather sell it local so I'm posting this here. Hope nobody minds. The jacket is a couple years old , but is in real nice condition. The only flaws on it are some needle holes on the back where three patches were sewn and one very very small tear also on the back which I covered with a small patch. As most of you probably know, the jacket goes for $570 new. I'm looking to get $200.

Thanks,
Duck

Well.. Not really sure what I should say? I didn't make the whole ride due to my speedo problem.

OK, first off, it was great meeting up with 8 local area Buellers. More then I think I've ever seen in one spot for one ride at the same time. So, we left Brunswick, probably should have given a better pre-ride briefing before we left, simply to straighten out a few minor hicups that were present on the ride.

Leg one was about 50 or so miles. I'm not really sure, since I lost my speedo/odom at 25.3. Spent the rest of that leg reading 0 miles an hour, 0 miles traveled, in the 3500rpm range in third gear .. hehehehehehe.. Oh well.. The roads had a few sharp twists to them and the only one that really knew them was the ride leader. It was a lot of fun running those back roads.

As I posted above. I had my problem and needed to get it fixed. Got to Frederick Buell and in about two hours I'd gotten the bike repaired. Ridden the Street Rod.. and had a hot dog and a soda. Not bad if I do say so myself. Now, would someone please tell me how the rest of the ride went?

Peter, glad to hear you got it fixed.. Frederick HD sure got it's share of drive up Buell's to repair this weekend, they saved my butt yesterday. As for the rest of the ride, it was a much more spirited event, along with a few u turns. Mike had not rode this route for a while, and made a few mistakes. The road was good, but I think the first leg was better. Mike led, followed by Bruce ( I think thats his name, blue 12r ) then me, Paul, Ed and Mike's wife on the Duc. Once we got rollin', and I figured how best to keep some space between myself and Bruce, we zipped through some pretty good twisties. Ed is not quite as aggressive, but he and Mike's wife, Mars, kept a comfortable pace for themselves. Mike sure likes to pull that front wheel, had a few doses of air myself. We agreed that the route should be run again, maybe with a different order ( of riders ) so we can all enjoy some of the switchbacks.
So, did you talk to Blaine when you were in Frederick? I know we kinda agreed to meet next Sunday morn, then possibly ride to Summit Point. I could do the meeting, but the rides out for me.
Well, again, glad you got repaired, kudos to Frederick! Sorry you guys couldn't finish up with us, it was much "Quicker"

DCBRAG Meeting/Wrenching/Picnic, Saturday, July 2nd.

Here's the plan:

We'll meet at HDW at 10 am, hang out for about 15 minutes then ride over into Virginia and end up at Karl's in Springfield for a Picnic/Wrenching party at his place

We'll use my bike as the lab rat for a few demonstrations, if anybody else has something they want to do to their bike (primary chain adjustments, rocker box gaskets, brake pad replacement, brake bleeding etc) come on down we'll get'r done.

Things you will see done to my bike:

In the transmission, we'll upgrade the stock shift drum and detent plate with the Baker "Smooth Shift" Drum and detent plate kit. We'll also replace the cranshaft oil seal on that side of the engine while we're in there.

On the cam side of the engine, we'll tear into the cam case to check the oil pump drive gear (if you have been following badweatherbikers.com you'll know that this has been a topic of much discussion lately). We might just drop the oil pump, but it's hard to see what's going on.

Hopefully we do not end up with extra bolts when we finish!

I need an idea of who's coming so we can get the right amount of food.

Menu so far will be burgers/dogs/brats, etc, other suggestions are welcome, BYOB.

Sunday July 3rd

Summit Point CCS Races, leave HDW at 8 am, meet at the Roy's in Leesburg between 9 and 9:30. $15 entry fee.

Jose,

We need to meet up and finish when we get some time. I got my X-1 back, it runs great!!! Butt dyno and real dyno some some great improvements in the hp and torque depts. Unfortunately, I sprung a rather bad oil leak in the primary area. I can't tell, but it looks like the starter gasket is the culprit, so I'll be pulling that side off this week and get it fixed. I'll be home Thursday evening if you want to come back over and finish up.

I need to replace my fork seals on my 2003 XB9R.

How hard is it to do? I do not have the fork compression tool but read in the XB section that it can be done without. I am very mechanically inclined and have the manual and am willing to it myself. Should I replace the fork oil with the recommended or replace it with higher performance oil? I plan to do some track events soon and not just street riding. I've read the stock springs are good enough, no need to upgrade.
These bikes sure do love to nose dive during hard braking.

Anyone know what the labor hours are at a dealership for this?

Frederick H/D charged me 1.5 Hours and oil, came to $101 and some change... and two new adjusting nut (assemblies), since they used an impact to take maine apart, and, when it goes back to have them replaced, they will be re-doing it, since I now have a leak. SO, they should be pretty good at it in about a week or two.

Hmmmm....if i am reading this correctly they did perform a good job?

Well I am trying to avoid dealing with dealerships unless i really have to due to lack of free time. I do the samething with my vette, I do all the work myself to include engine build ups and replacements. I don't believe in paying some one else to screw my stuff up when I am highly capable of doing it myself for free.

So should I use the factory recommended fork oil or go for some higher performance stuff?

Buell2001b, I'll be heading up to Carlisle as long as my bike is ready.

2 things, 1). labor time was for forks only, I removed them from the bike, and took them in for service, and 2). Sarcasm, NO I would not recommend them, alas, I am stuck at this point, as they have to fix what they screwed up, and I already paid to have it done, Correctly

sounds good Fire, i probably have a couple of ninjas coming with me.
by the way guys I did 211 last week. its the most awsome rode ever.
going up the hill on a slanted road feels like a roller coaster. I see why the buell is the king of twisties, i passed 2 ninjas and a yami on the way up doig about 70mph. this road is so sloped you don't need to dray your knee.
I have to take some buellers there sometime.
i actually got one guy seriously thinking about trading his CBR for a XB. This dudes were surprised i had no problem keeping up and then passing them.

Just a heads up for the future...

On Saturday, July 30th the SCRC Loudoun Chapter will be holding it's annual 'Sport Ride'.

OK, I'll be leading it. It's clocking in at about 157 miles, lots of twists and turn and plenty of stops. I'll be running it at a 'moderately' hooligan pace so it's a good ride for any Bueller.

We'll be departing from the Roy Rodgers parking lot in Leesburg off Plaza street. 10am is planned for kickstands up.

So, if you've got the day for some riding.. I'll see you there!
