I’ve been here in TN for a little over a year. Last year I rode the X1 from flint MI to Milwaukee what a trip that was. I hope you have time to kill Im going to give you the long story about the bike. The life of the Bike with me was an adventure. I sold My 94 ninja in 2000 with plans on getting a new 2000 Millennium edition X1. I wanted a buell from the first time I seen one several years ago but at the tome I was in the USMC and was on my way to Okinawa so I had to put it off three years later I got back and an air force guy going to Okinawa needed to sell his Ninja it only had 800 miles on it he laid it down after he bout it and was afraid to get back on. So I got a great deal on a fairly new bike. So didn’t get the buell . Any way in 2000 went back to the buell quest and the dealer told me we cant get that bike but we can get you a white X1 with the Nuclear blue frame. But it wont be here until around DEC. no problem good Christmas present for my self. But when it came time for the bike to get here they said we are unable to get the bike and now we are no longer going to carry buells. No problem Ill go some were else 2 days after Christmas I’m going to work and I see a white X1 I stop and talk to the kid riding it and guess what his dad owns the HD dealer in town and guess what he said that the customer that wanted it changed his mind and that he liked it so his dad said he could have it. This made me a little mad so I decided I don’t need no stinking buell . I staid mad for a while well the company decided to move me to TN last year. My family road their bikes up on weekend and decide to go get a shirt from the dealer her in Johnson city while I was in their I got talking with the owner and at the time they carried buells and I asked do you ever get any tuber X1s in on trade I always wanted one and he said I know were the perfect bike is for you a 2000 red racing stripe Millennium edition X1 it was a sign we were planning are trip to MI and WI and I was going to ride one of my dads bikes but this would be way better. So I after a month of us not being able to get together I gave up. When I made my last trip from NC to TN for work I decide to go back to the dealer and se what they had maybe I would just by a new fire bolt. When I got their Jasson asked why I didn’t get the X1 and I told him we could never meat up. I then said the bike is in the back if you want to see it. I t didn’t look like what was described to me it had some road rash the PM wheels were gone and needed some cleaning up but I liked the bike. So I bought it. The X1 was traded in at one dealer didn’t sell went to another didn’t sell finely was bought to be raced by the son of an employee but never was then was being sold on consignment at the dealer here all this and their was never a title change from the original owner took a little work to get that strait. I owned the X1 for 2 weeks loaded it up on a trailer took it to flint MI unloaded it and drove it to Milwaukee had the time of my life. me and the X1 survived but the X1 was blowing oil every ware and I couldn’t get it to stop we tried every thing ran the vent lines different added a crank case breather kit had to replace the oil pump and added an oil cooler. with the enjoyment I got from her on the trip I wasn’t going to give up on her so she got a complete redo. I was told by some one that the parts with road rash and the wheels were off of a mechs bike that worked at the local HD dealer but I can’t confirm it. So I started ordering parts to replace any thing that was damaged while I tore it apart. Who ever did the original work to the bike didn’t do the best job when I had to replace the oil pump on the bike some on had it off and cross threaded all the lines when they put it back on and they all leaked. It seamed like every thing that had ever been done to the bike was like this. So I tore it down and started to rebuild and polish every thing. The Millennium heads were on the bike but I had read on the net that the early ones had problems and one of them was oil blow buy so they were removed and checked out and then put back on the bike she is a 1250 now. I also changed to the XB covers. I polished any thing aluminum took me a while but well worth it. I bought a buffer just for the job. The only thing that did not come off the bike was the front end that will be this winters project and maybe a baker 6 speed. I managed to get every thing back together some how the only thing I did not do my self was put the new tires on the wheels. I added the short turn signal lights the rear fender delete and cross roads bars got rid of the sporty ham can and replaced it with a buell ham can made 3 oil catch cans one for each head and the trans and made a battery cover that holds the catch cans.. Added the oil cooler got a new seat had one for a cyclone on it and it didn’t fit all that well if you look in the first few pics you can see ware the seat doesn’t look right. I’m trying to get a second set of plastics so I can put a custom paint job on them some time this summer. The only thing left for this summer is replace the levers with adjustable ones. I need to get around to ordering a set I’m just having to much fun riding now and haven’t had time to do it. | ||

WHEW! Lots of tinkering! Sorry to hear about the moron's at the dealership though. That's usually the case. Sounds as if everything has come back together pretty well. Let's see if we can get her to tear up some curve's now. | ||

Hope ya can too. Well, only 18 more days. Been a little quiet on this thread, so I'll try to jump start it. Got the trailer all ready. All I have to do is strap the bikes on, and we're on our way. I mounted a Truck Bed Tool Box on the front of the trailer, which works well for blocking road debris. Tested it out for Homecoming and a Track Day on July 2nd. Started making a list of ALL the stuff I've got to bring. It's a lot with my gear, my wife's gear, She rides a Blast, and our 9 year old sons gear. Plus my son and I Stream fish for Trout, so I'm bringing all our gear for that. Man, my truck is going to be loaded down. | ||

And I thought I was bringing alot of "stuff"!! My trailer is ready to go, and my Jeep is pretty well ready to go too. All I have left is to go shopping for provitions (beer) and load everything up. BTW, I was wondering how far from "the village" we have to go to find a grocery store (that sells beer) ??? tank | ||

The Texaco Gas Station at the entrance to Fontana Village now sells beer, and Robbinsville has a regular grocery store (22 miles away). | ||

Hey Griz, did ya decided to camp instead of stay in the Cabin? How ya talk Hellion into that!?  The Campground is actually down the road from the Village. Faster, glad to hear you can make it. How old is your son. Our 9 year old is coming along on the trip with us as well. We'll have to try to get some fishing in in between riding! | ||

My wife (Buell Blaster) and I are going to head down to the Gap on the 29th to catch some of the Braggin' action. I made it down to the Gap earlier this year for the first time. Ditto Rocketsprink on scuffing up the tires before tempting the Dragon. Will be mounting up some Pirelli Diablo Stradas myself just before I head down. | ||

Well, let's see. 10 more days and some change till our group leaves from Wisconsin. Plan on getting to Fontana around noonish on the 30th. I know check in isn't until 4pm, but I'm hoping the cabin is ready early. If not, we'll enjoy the sites until we can get in. If they let me set it up, and I don't know why they won't, look for a green E-Z-UP with a large BUELL Banner. That will be me! | ||

11 days I'm so excited, I could pee my pants (or maybe it's just the beer) Yes, I've been gathering/packing "stuff" for almost a week. The nice FedEx man left a new leather jacket and pants at the door today. Are the pants supposed to be real baggy until you croutch into "riding" position? I'm an odd size so the attachment zippers don't work exactly right, but good enough. Can't wait to get this show on the road(9+ hr. drive for me). tank | ||
