Well it is looking like Anton is going to flake on me once again. This will be the 3rd day he was supposed to show up here to help me work on the bike. Lesson learned, dont pay people to do anything before it is done.

How much of a panic are you in? I might be able to pull a couple of holiday days and swing down to help.

Can't promise without talking to Laura.

Dammit, no "private message's" allowed. What the heck is so secret that you can't tell ME! Besides, Jimmy if you come early you HAVE to be at Bobby G's thursday, or my heart will be brokeded.

Back from Spokane yesterday, and I sure like to ride that bike. We saw the Hell's Angels Nomads club house. Betty wanted to stop, but I was afraid they'd make soup out of us!
So I was over in the East cause the the Xray tech over there was gona be doing a big pyro-firework show for the city. So on Sunday they were doing the first show and he done blowed his self up! Two 5" shells spontaniously ignighted and blowed his femur in two, poped a ear drum, broked a finger, and burnded off some skin. A 5" shell is equall to 3 sticks of Dyno-Mite, as I have since learnded. The next night at the BIG SHOW, there were two boo boo's, one of which launched a feller about 15 ' through the air onto his posterior protuberance. All the shells were from the same mfg. Glad I have a safe hobbie riding sport bikes... Got tagged doing 78 in a 60. oppsie. That'll cost me.
I was down riding by the water front the other day and there was this woman driving along in her cage, flipping her cigarette ashes out her window on ME! Have I ever mentioned that I HATE tabbaco? Killed my mom and dad. Always hated the smell. I didn' treally think befor I split the lanes and tryed to grab her stinkie out of her hand. She was too quick for me, musta seen me coming cause she pulled her hand into her heap right quick like. Police were at my house in about 15 min. asking if there was a "Galen Martindale" living here. I wasn't home yet, and my neighbors played dumb. ha ha sez I.
Good to be home. Can't wait to SPLASH.

sooner, Galen

Anton called and then came over around 2 or so and we started working, worked till maybe 6...arghhh I want it done. LOL. It is taking longer then normal due to working in the garage, waiting on parts, conversion from fuel injection to carb, already broke one iso tool, the list goes on and on.

Jimmy, Thanks so much for the offer, but I think we are going to get it done. Unless something comes up and I just cant get parts in time. That being said, you are more then welcome to come down and assist. I have a room.

Galen,

I saw the interview of that guy on the news, looked like he came out of a war zone, you better stick to FireBall. Sorry to hear about the ticket, those do suck. Wish we could have gotten together while you were in the neighborhood. I'm still kicking myself for not trying to find you sooner. Great story about the ash flicker, damn your a good hooligan. Spud, what's the scoop? You and Trixie coming to Splash or Border Raid? Or are they working you to death? Sharpen the Saw. The Seventh Habit of Highly Effective People. That means take time off to tune up your soul. Your saw can't cut well if it aint sharp. Squeeze your honey for me. I bought a kayak on Ebay so I could paddle with my wife. She is avid about it, though she won't look at a bike. What's up with that, hunh?

ok, my mechanic did'nt show up again here last night, I'm starting to get really worried about not making it to splash. The motor is some what mounted/suspended from the frame now, had to take off the starter though since some brainiac cut off the breather line when taking the motor out,so I could'nt get to the clip to take the rest off. It is just one thing after another, and I don't have all the tools needed, so I am pretty dependent on my "buddy" at this point.

GreenEric just left here from looking at "Mig" They are coming to splash for sure they said.

Speaking of splash, what is the route plan? are we going to try to run the reverse? Or do we need to get roads checked out? So much to do and so little time.

My digital cam corder is not going to work for the helmet cam I bought so, I have to go and get a new camera, that is just great, always has to be something.

Another example of this is, I buy a satelite radio receiver, thinking it is all one unit (the antana and what not all in one)but NO it has to be a unit, and antenna, and the unit has to be on the base to get the power. Did you say power? Yes I did, because that is also not what I though I was buying...lol I thought it would run off batteries, said it included batteries...OH you mean the batteries are for the remote....LOL....Good news is. It comes with an optional cigarette lighter adapter....????? What the hell good is that gonna do me? Anyone here added a stoggie lighter on their bikes? The unit takes 6VDC...hmmm anyone know of a cheap way to get from 12vdc to 6...on a bike? I mean, I know how to build a circuit board that could do it, but that is another story. I guess I could just add the cigarette lighter under the seat near the battery then duct tape the adapter into it? The adapter converts from 12v to 6v

Yup, looks like Pamela and I will be two-up on the Sprint. Some financial setbacks have prevented her from getting a bike so far, but she's still looking. Looking forward to seeing everyone for the barbecue. Chris and Loni always put out a great spread.

So has anyone dealt with these folks before? http://www.soundrider.com/sbnw/index.htm
The day where they have the Maryhill loops road open only to motorcycles sounds worth attending for that alone.

Troubles after troubles.

So we broke another rear iso tool last night, and they made our own out of about 3 dollars in parts from the depot. THANKS AGAIN ROC FOR THE IDEA

Just when you though it was going to go smooth,NO, So next I find out that the swing arm tensioner bolt was not in the bike, because the threads are all screwed up...SO it is just sitting in its spot....I dont know what to do about that one. As if this was all not enough..guess what...When you switch to a newer motor you need to update the front motor mount. It will not fit....SO, now I need to take the front motor mount out, but, I already tried to do that, but the electric gun I have is not taking the nut off. SO, Things are going great....LOL

S1H

What do you mean. The front motor mount that bolts to the front head on your old motor should fit right on the newer motor shouldn't it?

You can get enough tention on the swingarm bearings by snugging up one side of the swingarm mount then tap or press the other side down while snugging down that side. All you need to do is take up the slack.

Sounds like you are just a night away from being finished.

I'm riding my S1 this year too.

Cheers

Front motor mount needs to be hacked a little with a die grinder. It is just a bit to thick, and hits the rocker boxes.

I got a new front mount today from a 99 X1,(Thanks again to ROC, he not only found me a mount but he went to esticada to get it) and guess what, it is the newer one that has the mount for the bread box, UGHHH those look ugly with no bread box. So I think I am going to get the old mount out and grind it down. So I just need a air compressor. I am going to call a buddy O mine tonight and see if maybe he has one that I could use for a night or two.

SO, I dont know man, I am still worried about getting it done in time. I still need to get some miles on it before splash to feel ok with it all.

I for one am excited to see everyone this weekend. The weather forcast looks great, and I have taken Friday and Monday off so there is no STRESSING out to be done by this one. I will be at the park in the early afternoon on Friday to get the spot we usually have. Thinking that I will catch some sun rays, read my book and maybe drink a few margaritas while I wait for ya all. If anyone wants to join me please do!

As for the route, we will talk about that Friday. Lots of different options. I will be sure and bring the maps from last year.

Hey all!

Well, we survived our incursion into the People's Republic of California and are safely ensconsed in my parents' place in Oak Harbor. Can't wait for Friday!!! We're taking the ferry from Whidbey Island over to Port Townsend and running down 101. Any of the Canadians want to come over and play on the Olympic Peninsula on the way to the Park? Beats the hell outta sitting in Seattle traffic. See ya all on Friday.

Well,
My Daytona is now for sale at Burton Motorsports in Suquamish if y'all know anyone interested. I sure hate to see it go. Good news is I'll have a bike of some sort for BORDER RAID!! I know you all are talking about Splash right now but I am really excited about BORDER RAID!! Have not been there in two, maybe three years. I need to do some riding. Also I will be restructuring my business soon so I can reclaim my life and among other things RIDE, RIDE, RIDE!

I know there are changes for Border Raid since I last attended, someone please keep me informed. I have wireless access these days on the road.

Everyone have a great SPLASH and please no crashes. That means keep your eye on Galen...Just kidden buddy!

Anyone hear the poor goob at Laguna ferget the words to the 'Spar Tangled Hammer"? ...and the rockets red hair, made me scream at a bear, er...brought fruit to the fight, by the rocking chair... and that poor Hayden boy getting rund oft the track. Ain't they got no kooth?
As for this whole SPLASH-together, well the natives are getting restless. Kim, someone has to stay at the cave and tend the fire, it's a noble calling that must be filled! You will of course be missed on this years squirrel hunt. We shall bag a gross of the little quadripeds in your honor for you to cure over the roasting coals!

The bike is not being worked on again tonight, again, no anton. He did let me borrow his tools though, Tonight it was that he was sick....pffff. So, I got some one else coming tomorrow (I hope) to help me. I dont think I will deal with anton from here on out, he knows hit stuff (sorta) but isnt very reliable when he says he is going to do something. I shouldnt have paid him before the work was done. I wont make that mistake with this next guy.
