I know where he lives, but I'm sure he's busy unpacking and enjoying the family life. He's waited a long time to get the family up here, and I'm sure he's gonna kick back and just enjoy spending time with them today.
I'm sure we'll see him Tuesday night...

Carey, you've got mail

Bart and Carey- Thanks for the ride! Who knows, if I keep practicing, maybe I can make it to the top before Bart finishes his cigarette someday! Good pics. Carey, you should keep one of those bikes!

AHHHHHH! Internet access! I felt like a heroin junkie not being able to get his fix! Well Wyck, I'm still unpacking (major pain in the ) and at this pace, will be for the next 2-3 years! I'm sure the house warming party will be soon enough.

Tuesday may be do-able for me. When and where? I wanna catch up and hear all the Springfast stories. I'm sure they're getting better by the day!

Well, got my 1k mile service done. Went to Hacienda and talked to Brady. Everything went fine. Called yesterday and he was able to take me that day, just had to leave a little early from work to get there and drop it off on time to get it back the same day. Had to kill three hours waiting, but they had the bike done on time and I was able to drive it back home that night. Even had them re-do the suspension settings because I don't think the guys at Chandler did it right. I know where I'm going for all my service now. Thanks for the info, Wycked. Too bad they can't swap locations with the Chandler place, it's like 10 minutes from my office.

Hi all,
Tell me about AZ please. My girlfiend/wife and I are thinking of relocating somewhere warmer. We are looking for someplace similar to the Minneapolis/St paul area only warmer. What is the housing market like? I have a leads on jobs in Tuscon, Phoenix and Flagstaff and maybe Kingman. I'm an auto tech who prefers to work imports so I think I need to be near (within 30 to 50 miles) a fairly large city. Any help would be appreciated.

The housing market in the Phoenix area is booming and the prices are rising. I know the West valley area is going nuts, Surprise AZ has many nice sub divisions. I think a few of guys are living in the Glendale, Peoria area. That too has a lot of good living.

Flagstaff and Kingman has to much winter for my liking.

Bcordb3,
Why no you didn't, but I assumed it was a possibility. How's the coffee round there? I think we would prefer an older house (70 to 100 years) to new if given a choice.

Scott,

Better do some serious homework before making the move. Hate to see you disappointed after making the move and then again, maybe you won’t be. I’m a forth generation Arizonan so I’ve seen it grow into what it is. If I recall, Arizona ranked right around number 40 or so in the “most livable state award”.

Well …… super super super freaking hot dry summers in the Valley and they’re longer than 3 months in duration, pollution but you’re used to that, Oh, everything is brown except way up in the mountain areas (say 5,000 ft. and above), water rationing will start soon and has already started outside of the Valley of the Sun (or is it Mexico), Arizona is a drug importation and transshipment state too, electric rates are going up, wages are low compared to home prices and it’s getting worse every year, property taxes are soaring in the Valley, medical cost are outrageous everywhere but even more so here due to the illegal immigrants we allow to use the services free of charge, the traffic is totally screwed up in the Valley of the Sun and its’ neighboring cities, the freeway system is a joke and years behind due to the un-controlled population growth Arizona is allowing to take place, no mass transit system yet, high car and/or motorcycle insurance rates, Arizona is a right to work for less state and has had substandard home construction for years now.

Arizona is ranked the worst ...... in the bottom 10% of all states in, high highway fatality rates, high crime rates, teenage birth rate high, home ownership rate, the student-teacher ratio in public elementary and secondary schools, the percent of eligible population reported voting and in prisoner incarceration rates. Oh, according to Sunday's paper a couple of weeks ago ... 25% of high school grads entering the job market here, couldn't pass a "simple basic math test" (note the words simple and basic).

As someone mentioned, year round ridding weather is a plus (much better up in the high country ….. it’s to hot in the Valley). Some outstanding countryside to see, dirt bike ridding, water skiing, camping, fishing, hunting and general bike ridding exist outside of the Valley of the Sun and within the State (as long as our water supply exist, we’ve been in a 10 year drought). Good Mexican food. <duh> If you're retired and invested your greenbacks right, great place to spend the winter or summer (if you have a place in the mountains). Lot’s of really nice golf courses if you play and can afford to golf. Lot’s a bars? Dunno, can’t think of anything else.

Oops,

Just missed your postings. You won't find a older home, 70 to 100 years old in the valley of the sun ... big grin(s) and if you did, it'd be made out of adobe. BTW, there's one down the street from me made out of adobe. Sure can tell you're from back East. Arizona was nothing but a cattle town, citrus growing community, and farm land 70 years ago. My home is about 50 years old, in the Arcadia area, formerly part of a huge pink grapefruit and orange orchard …. turned into a housing tract (50 years ago), is made of red brick (can't get one of those pups nowadays), conventional framing and construction, very small square footage wise but on a 1/3 or an acre (which is considered to be a really large lot nowadays) will set you back about $300,000. Other homes in my area, with huge lots (meaning an acre) are selling for a million plus. You better work on a lot of cars and put the wife and kids to work too. Of course you can get one of those cookie cutter new homes, on a really small lot, made out of toilet paper and plastic. When you fart the neighbors can hear it and smell it. You can even stick you arm out one of your windows and scratch their back for'em if you'd like.

Crash-
As fate would have it, I happen to be a real estate agent here in Phoenix, so I can say that the market here is insane. You can expect to pay at least 150k for a house anyplace you want to live. Many home sell the first few days they are n the market, often for above list price.
Older homes are not that common. They're typically in historic districts and cost you even more. If they're well priced, they are in terrible shape.
I like Flagstaff, but it's not much cheaper. I can't really speak for Tuscon, and I'd recommend you visit Kingman before you move there. Actually, I'd recommend you visit anywhere here before you do the move. Much of what was written above is pretty damn accurate. I won't say don't do it, but make sure you know what you're getting into. Good luck!

Hey Smoke and Mr Bill,
Thanks for the info. I think I'm scratching AZ off the list. The other cities we're looking at are Atlanta and Austin, TX. Both appear to have more of what we're looking for. I'm leaning towards Atlanta, now I just gotta convince the girlie and figure out how to move everything. The toolbox is the hard part, it weighs about the same as a Honda Civic and is worth about four Civics. It doesn't fit on most moving van ramps. Usually it gets moved on the back of a flatbed towtruck.

Crash,

Have you thought about PODS? I think it's PODS.com

They drop the box, you load it up, they pick it up and drop it at new location. Easy. Don't know if they have a weight limit though... all those tools have got to be heavy!

BuellJ,

Not the best news, but at least you know. Not knowing sucks. Now you can fix it. Sorry about the race ECM...

Thanks Charlie, since I purchased the ECM from
them it is going to be warrantied, thats what is taking so long, they normally don't warranty race parts, so they had to get a authorization from HD.
The fan and ECM should be arriving today.
