Just want to thank Dave S at Appleton H-D, can't wait to get the parts.

Just in case anyone is wondering, I am doing a color change again, but the color is a secret.

Hey, MOB'ers, John and I are going to be coming your way, well kinda, this next Sunday...We're riding to lunch at Bonnots Mill MO...Find Jeff City, go south on 63 and east on 50 and then north on A highway...Where A ends at the Missouri is Bonnots Mill...Really neat little river/railroad town...Not much more that a great general store, A B&B and Krautman's Korner Cafe...We're leaving STL about 0900 and should be there about 1300, or so...And right next door is C highway...Ya gotta ride this one...So join us and drown your club/dealership relationship troubles in s'miles...

Well... To bring the membership and others up to speed on the issues with the demo and sling bag promotion. I wrote a log email to Roger and we had a long telephone conversation.

I can’t say we were both laughing and yucking it up... but much was covered. Roger asked this to help make things better.

I forget who told me of the near argument between two employees on the sale floor when someone went to get their sling bag. AND... it is not to get anyone in trouble, it is to advise the employees of the negative image it gave to customers and members.

If a description and or names of the employees could be emailed to me... Roger wants that information to address the inappropriate information. HE wants to correct issues as they happen... to make the relationship between the club, customers and employees of one that is like family. He asks that if at ANY time an employee acts anti-Buell or such that does not appropriately give the correct image about the dedication to marketing Buell, get a name and give it to him.

Next big point. Rogers asked me to pass on that when he called the helpers together was not meant to be a chewing. He says ultimately he wanted to hold the sling bags back during the demo day to ensure that at a later time give bags to those that helped. He says his intentions were honorable. He did not like the talk being characterized as a chewing.

My response was... maybe that was intention, but to some it was seen as a chewing.

All that is now ancient history. Let’s all move on.

Please hang in there... all do their best to be positive to help us move forward... and please give the dealership more time to get up to speed. They continue to want to have issues brought to their attention when there are short comings and hiccups. If we don’t identify and correctly address the problems with the growing pains... we will fail to move forward.

I advised Roger that we will do our part, and all this will not fail because we did not do our part. Roger added that he will do his part as the dealer liaison to address issues so “Gail’s” does there part.

Roger said that the club volunteers worked hard and because of them, the demo ride was a success. He added that he hopes that when there is another demo ride in the future the club continues to show such support, and with lessons learned about additional ways to get the word out... the attendee count will grow with what was learned form our first.

For those that do not know... there were 47 registered demo riders and 67 (I think) demo rides. The dealership was happy with that number. I had hoped for more... but when we do the next one... I have confidence we can double to triple that number with a bit more promotion.

I am still working hard for the club... Roger assures me he is and has been working hard for the club... and we all need to keep momentum moving in the right direction to continue to grow and improve.

All points taken on both sides... We are a strong club... and all this will smooth out as time passes and it will be worth the work.

dasbuell Maybe another weekend.
This Saturday, I'll be in Topeka with the Coast Guard running rampant all over me.

Sunday, I'll be riding or boating depending on the weather.

I would like to see your shop and ask some questions.......

I am glad things may be mellowing a bit. I like Gail's people that I've delt with. Just not the prices, yet. Maybe those will change as well.

What does Gail's charge a hour? Central charge's $68 an hour. Keef, what is your labor charge for Buell's? And Dennis, what do you charge for tool rental? Did anyone boost me a swing bag, or is that a sore subject?

zhdman - Blue Springs charges $79/hour

They also charged me for 3 quarts of oil.
(The Blast holds just shy of 2 quarts.)

The next day after I ran it a bit I checked the oil and found it ½ quart low. (Yes, I did it properly.)

I am wondering what they did with the other 1 ½ quarts they charged me for.

If anyone needs any of these old '03 XB9S parts, let me know. Handlebars, mirrors, inner airbox cover (not the cosmetic airbox cover), I'm goin to keep the old exhaust in case they try to go all cali on us with MO emission standards in the next 2 years. Just got my bike MVI and tags renewed, but I'm sure they will fool around with emissions in the future. New pipe might not pass emissions, so I'll hang on to the old one.

Dusty, I have some torque wrenches as well. And I live about 4-5 miles from Dennis, so perhaps if you need help, we can conglam the minds and come up with a solution to your bike woe's

My company charges $67/hour to repair airborne avionics. Confirms that I am in the wrong business. It takes 5+ years of training for a technician to become productive. Here is a sample of the test equipment required.

Bob,
The only two wheeler that Sam has that he can ride now is his little rice burning Honda 50 because his X-1 is all gone and his XB is still in Colorado (looks like forever)as they are still trying to get it mapped out and so far it is either idle or wide open balls to the wall throttle no in between which really sucks..I still would like to look under the bonnet as I have a couple of ideas for carb setup but need to look at the space available and a couple other little odds and ends to make a carb work maybe Sam will finally get tired of no putt putt and bring it home and let me have a peek under the cover and see what I can plumb in under there...

Nominations? If you are going to give up your club director spot, why not just start asking people who would be interested in taking over, like what Dave did.He did it that way,so why couldnt you do the same thing?Nominations werent cosidered or taken before so why bother this time around.
