It sure is nice to finally find a place for some fellow Buell enthusiasts. I can't believe all these cycles I'm seeing on here from the KC area. I must have been riding in all the wrong directions for the past 2 years because I havn't seen any of these bikes on the road minus a Red and a Black Firebolt here and there and another yellow Lightning. I'm glad to see there are more of you here in KC I was beginning to worry I wouldn't be able to find some fellow Bueller's to ride with. This is an awesome site, great info and great discussions. Hope to see you guys soon on the roads, unfortunately probably won't be until mid May as I have 2 screws in my ankle and a broken Fibula right now and won't get my cast off until May 10th  , and this has been some awesome weather I've been missing out on. I did have a tech ? if anyone has an answer great. I bought those Crossroads clip on handlebars for my XB9S and it said in the instructions to loosen the lower fork clamp and jack up the front end of the bike so the forks will drop down a bit, but I looked at the new handlebars, and they have holes in them where the forks stick up through a few inches, so I'm not sure why I'd even have to drop the forks out? Doesn't make any sense to me, perhaps some of you all have put them on your bikes and could help me out? Thanks and nice to meet you all, ride one for me please  | ||

I was wondering if any of you gentleman were making any plans to attend the BRAG Homecoming up in West Bend, WI this June 2nd - 5th? I'm not sure if I'm going, but I might. I'd sure like to go but not sure I'll be out of my cast yet or not, but it sounds awesome. Would love to ride on a racetrack up there. Also, have any of you gentleman ever gone to "Little Sturgis" in Kentucky? I have several Harley rider friends from work that have gone several years and I was considering going this year. Would be a lot better ride with a fellow bueller. Also, I myself plan on making a trip to Hermann this October for the Oktoberfest down there, it's quite a sight. Perhaps the club pres could make that a ride for you all. I do plan on joining your club, hopefully some of us could go down together. Happy riding. | ||

I’m leading another long Buell ride from Gail’s Harley at 9am on Sunday. We’re heading up north through Excelsior Springs and points north in search of curvy roads that’ll put a spring smile on your face. All brands welcome! I was reading some of this stuff about Gail's on here. I am one of the most impatient people I know, and I absolutely love the people at Gail's, DW, Don Canafax and all the others. But there service department is slow as hell, and I went in one time to order a replacement footpeg, showed the parts guy the footped in the parts manual, and he ordered the wrong one. I couldn't ride for a month. Once the original 7-10 working days was up for the wrong part, had to wait another 7-10 working days for the right part. That's happened on 2 occasions which really ticked me off. I thought this new facility was so they would have more room to store needed parts in house, but apparently not. They picked my bike up last week for it's 10,000 mile check up and I needed a new front rotor and they said it won't be in for 7-10 days and that was on Wed the 13th. I don't understand why we as consumers can get parts delivered to our home overnight, but a dealer can't, and I've asked before to get parts overnight from them and they say the Buell Manufacturers won't send it to them overnight. So I guess I just have to grin and bare it. But please don't get me wrong, there service times leave a lot to be desired, but you won't meet a group of people that will go out of their way more to please the customer, I guess there's just some kinks they still need to work out. | ||

I wonder if Harley and Buell will try to catch up with the metric bikes like Honda they will have you the parts in 24 hours for a honda guaranteed if you are down. Not bashing here Richie just wondering if they might try to adopt the same customer service attitude as the Metric bikes with fast parts and expanding dealer network for better service? | ||

The Hanses brothers and myself will be taking our first long bike trip this June. As this will be our virgin long distance run (Glacier Park, Montana) and anywhere else we may end up I was wondering if you guys could give us some suggestions on what tools we need to carry. 2-xb's and a 99 M2. kccyclone. What a great trip you have ahead of you! You have to run the Beartooth Pass, Chief Joseph Pass, and the Bighorn National Wilderness Area. Beartooth Pass Cooke City to Red Lodge, Montana Chief Joseph Pass Cooke City to Cody, Wyoming Bighorn National Wilderness Area Lovell to Dayton, Wyoming Take at least one extra belt. Mine broke on the Beartooth Pass, and I'd still be there if I hadn't had an extra belt zip tied to my saddle bag. Three of the best roads in the country. | ||

S2scott & Sweetp411, Harley has a down vehicle policy. And if you order before 10 a.m. it'll usually come in the next day. But, Buell is usually another 24 hrs. after that. I think it's because the order goes to Harley first and then they pass the order on to Buell. I tried & tried to hurry it a long on several occations, but it never seemed to work. Harley & Buell also stick you hard with freight fee's. I remember one time I ordered 2 sets of rings for a Down Vehicle, which was a warranty. 48 hrs. later, they sent me one set in an envelope, with a bill for $27.50 for freight. And a statement the other was on back order. No phone call, email or fax. So with the customer still waiting, I got on the web and found another set in California and had them ship me 2 set's 2nd day air for $12. (I had them ship 2 set's hoping nothing would be damaged or mismatched, which seems to happen when your short on time and you're trying to help out your customer.) Needless to say we got the bike going as fast as humanly possible, but it still took a week. OH! two weeks later a second envelope came from Buell with one set of rings, and a second bill for freight, an additional $27.50. P.s. I still had those ring in stock until a month ago, when another dealer need them, so I shipped them out for $5. They told me they where having trouble getting parts from the Factory. | ||

KCcyclone. Go over your bikes and make sure your tires are new or near new.Change the oil. Inspect your brakes and cables. Look at your belt. Adjust your primary chains. Oh change the oil in your tranny. The xb guys won't have that maintenance. Just engine oil for them. Check your lights, blinkers, brake lights. Go on some 200 mile rides a few times to get your rear ends in shape. You may find the bottom of your seats faster than you thought you would. Call me or email me and I can recommend some gel pads that work great. Doing a few 2 or 300 mile runs will help to get you in shape for the wind pushing against your chest and head. You will absolutely want a cruise control. The bar end style work great and maybe a throttle rocker on your throttle. Rain gear will be a must also. You'll have to watch the weather leading up to your ride date to try and get a fix on what kind of cold weather gear you will want to take. Tank bag and saddle bags for your gear. You won't have much room for clothes. Does that help? | ||

I said it before and I'll say it again, It isn't easy being a Buell parts guy. But I can Still get you parts and pieces if you'll be patient and if I can't I'll atleast get you in touch with someone who can. And thats a promise. And I know our price's are correct. Kcbill, thanks...all the bikes are going in for the once over, and I just bought a new gel seat..and am trying to get the joe rocket saddlebags in the classifieds here on the bad web. All are running new tires, so it seems were doing everything right so far. Thanks for the help. | ||

KCcyclone. You won't need to take a belt. The xb guys may want to check the service manual on the mileage change out for that. We have put 30 to 50K. miles on the tubers belts with no problems. The xb units won't last that long. Sams broke just after he hit the suggested mileage. I don't recall the mileage. He already had a new belt for it he just hadn't put it on yet. | ||

Is so, drop me a note, I'd like to learn more of the details. Buell parts are plentiful, including parts for the tube frame Buells. You may recall a couple weeks ago someone said the wheel bearings for the XB were "obsoleted". A check that day found that 450 sets were on the shelf ready for shipment. It appears to be a communication problem and I am eager to learn more. A couple years ago Buell parts WERE a big problem. Much work was done and there is no reason you shouldn't be able to have anything (give them 2 days for painted parts) the next day. Court | ||

In my situation, my bike tipped over and the shift lever and the left side rider footpeg broke. So I went to Gail's parts dept and ordered the parts right out of the manual, I even took the parts in to show a visual reference. Somehow the wrong parts got ordered. They ordered the entire shift lever and linkage, which I only needed the lever but I guess I have extra now if I need linkage, and they completely ordered the wrong footpeg. Those 2 items took Gail's 2 calendar (ordered on a Tuesday, got them 2 Tuesday's later) weeks to come in. Then I went to pick them up and took them home, and the footpeg was the wrong one, so had to take it back and reorder the correct one. Another 2 calendar weeks for that one to come in. And I requested they order the part to be shipped overnight, and they said the factory did not ship product overnight. So I was stuck at the time, because I didn't know of these other websites to order product. But I've taken my bike in for routine maintenance 4-5 times and have never, never got my bike back in less than 2 weeks and I don't think it should take that long to get your oil changed and the bike tuned up, that's just my opinion. I realize that bike sales have probably tripled in the past 5-10 years in our area, and I know Gail's has a lot of bikes to work on. But I thought that was why they got the huge service center at the new facility so they could handle more volume? Apparently they're running short on mechanics or something cuz the turn around time has not changed. Like I said, I love the people at Gail's, they are extremely polite and will do what they can, it just seems the manufacturers are tying their hands and taking them to the cleaners on shipping times and charges for these parts and someone at the dealerships needs to come up with some kind of solution. I used to work for Adidas in KY, and they brought in UPS reps to set up a new distribution system and in 6 months we increased Adidas distribution by 400%, that was a nice fat bonus for the workers. Perhaps Harley and Buell need some help in their distribution of this nature, something needs to be done for sure. | ||

On a lighter note, how bout this weather, it's makin me sick having this stinking cast on, but atleast I get to chat with you guys and listen to your rides so that's better than nothing . I witnessed a nasty bike spill last night. The bike was an R1 I think. Was on 210 Hwy, right before the 435 South on ramp. The guy went off the road for some reason and ended up in the grass medium. His bike didn't look that bad, but he was on a stretcher. Perhaps he couldn't make that corner coming back to the west on 210 or something? I took that Motorcycle Safety Course over off of Noland and 40 Hwy last year which I highly recommend for insurance purposes (saves me about $200+ a year on insurance), and I was amazed how many people in that class were first time riders that already had bikes. This one kid was horrible on a motorcycle, first time rider, and I asked him did he have a bike at home and he said he had just bought a Honda CBR 900. I told him that bike had way too much power for a novice, but he was about 19 and didn't want to listen. Oh too be young again right. Anyway, you guys keep the rubber on the road. Kccyclone, I'd take some loctite and maybe a set of those alan wrenches that unfolds like a pocket knife, that long of a trip, something is bound to rattle loose, cosmetic or other. A little loctite goes a long way. Also, like the man said, take some warm clothes. I went to Hungry Horse Montana in H.S. in June up by the Canadian border, and it was 95 during the day and below freezing when the sun went down, so the temp change is very dramatic. One other note, on a lot of the major hwy's in Montana, there is no speedlimit during daylight hours, but be careful because daylight hours is the hwy patrolman's discretion and they will give out speeding tickets at dusk Trust me | ||

Loren, That will be a great run. If you have time, catch HWY 160 that runs along the bottom of Missouri. It's a great road! In fact, most roads down that way are great. Hard to go wrong. I've got a sneaky feeling that you'll take the mileage trophy by a wide margin. With all that Gerbing gear, you can ride year-round! | ||

Charles, I was planing on picking 160 up at West Plains. I'm sure with the thunderstorms in the forecast, that my route will not be firm until I take of that morning, and ride the best route to avoid any storm fronts. It sounds like you have be racking up the miles on business trips, so I will surely have to ride until the snow flies to stay with you on the miles. | ||
