Add in the peace of mind the Roadside Assistance Program affords as well as a few other National BRAG Benefits and the cost of joining BRAG can easily be justified.

Imp -- I'll be there, brother -- likely go walkabout on a couple of rides, and try to avoid some of the parades, though -- depends on the plans published

Does anyone know what events are happening on what day? I am thinking about attending my first BRAG gathering. It would be nice to know so I know much time to take off for work. What does a ticket include? Does everyone ride to these events or is it OK to come by car/truck? How about hotels? Does BRAG reserve rooms at certain hotel for this event? Thanks ahead of time for any more info on Homecoming.

Kinger,
I float around between a small town just South of Eau Claire and the Twin Cities. I can't find any info stating what is going on Thurs, what's going on Fri, etc., etc.

Maverick,
Details are still being worked out.
Those that know preliminary plans aren't speaking up much yet.
I'm curious where the base hotel will be.
I assume some events will be at the WestBend Fairgrounds, or not.
Thursday and Friday will probably be the usual ride route sheets, B'Trax, Tours, food, meeting people, and stuff like that.
Buell events are usually on a much smaller scale than H.O.G. events, unless there is a H.O.G. event planned at the same time. Does anyone know if there is?

No HOG event in Wisconsin that overlaps the Homecoming.

In the event the Homecoming is planned for the West Bend Fairgrounds, they had some great camping facities set up there for the National Round-up last year and I believe there is a good hotel right across the street.

And while you're at it tell me more about BRAG membership. Does this roadside assistance cover anytime anywhere? I put a lot of miles on my bike doing farm inspections each summer (could've used it twice last year!) that aspect alone could be worth the price of membership.

Just curious,
Rob

I stopped in at the WestBend Harley/Buell dealership recently.
They have two Buells on the floor and probably won't order anymore unless it's a special order, according to the employee I spoke with there.
He knew nothing about the Buell Homecoming event.
He did know about the hats, but said they didn't get any.

Too bad since in the past they've offered up a decent B'Trax event.

Could get real interesting in early June this year.

Appleton is an hour or so north.
Hal's is a half hour or so south.
Milwaukee is 20 minutes or so south.
Suburban is 15 minutes or so southeast.
Other shops in the area as well.
YMMV.

My wife and I are thinking about attending this event. There's no way we can afford to hotel it for that long. Unless there are some REAL reasonable hotels around....Looking at camping somewhere around there. Any suggestions from anyone? Would like to get a ways away from the metro area's. Don't think there is any way we can pack everything on the Buells... may have to trailer it there. I have NEVER done that before, not sure I'm ok with it..

Gus...West Bend is in the heart of the Kettle Moraine State Park. There should be some quality camping in and around the area. I'm still debating staying in the area or commuting. It's only about 1hr 15 minutes from my place. But the most fun is hanging out in the evening with the gang.

Hope to see you in June!

Dennis

Gusmeister....Start with these websites.

The first is the general West Bend area and the other two are specific campgrounds that are closest to West Bend.

Note there may be others and you will just have to do an internet search if these don't float your boat.

Anyone on the board here close to the area that could check out the camp areas personally? I have the rv and will be trailering as well. I'd be glad to be the "base" camp for the evening gathering if it others are close. Lake are you familiar with the area? How bout something real close to the host motel?

Since the host hotel is within a block or so of West Bend Harley/Buell, you may want to contact the dealer for the nearest campsite that is biker friendly.

Motel info, posting in this thread since I'm not sure which one of the recently active Homecoming threads is the "real" thread. Anyway....

These are in Port Washington, about 15 miles east of West Bend, if you ride into Lake Michigan you went about a mile too far. Port has a small but decent downtown area with a harbor, a couple of restaurants, a Holiday Inn (was a Best Western two years ago), and some other stuff.

Driftwood Motel, tel: (262) 284-4413
on hwy-LL on the northwest side of town just off I-43, and near an intersection to a decent shortcut to hwy-57 to head up to Road America.
Rates: $50/night, 2 people, 2 beds, 3rd person is an additional $10/night. Some rooms have little kitchenettes and/or a stove. The rooms look decent and are typical of your basic small private motel.

Port Motel, tel: (262) 284-9964
This is on the south side of Port Washington (everyone around here just calls it "Port"; ) right off hwy-33. Appears to be a borderline dive, but is usually full during the week with the local power plant contractors filling it.
Rates are $32/night single with one bed, $39.60 for two people with one bed, $44.35 for two beds, $48.05 for three people and two beds.

As noted, there is the Holiday Inn in town with about a 1 minute walk to the docks. There is also a Country Suites Inn (or something like that) on the north end of town, and a Super-8 up the road in Saukville close to the Corse Ducati/Suzuki/other-stuff store adjacent to I-43 just south of where hwy-57 and I-43 split northbound (or join southbound ; ) ).

Anyway, like I said, these are about 15 miles or so cross county from West Bend. And one word of warning, the Port police write many tickets in town if you're much over 25mph or are too happy with the throttle or have open containers on public sidewalks. Just a heads up, otherwise a decent little town, we like it.

Okay, I"m out of here for the weekend.
Bye.
