I'm just glad no cameras were up and running, but I can tell you this, better ask who was watching what happened, becouse all I remember is flicking my throttle to warm it up then the next thing I know my right side of my visor is eating asphalt. How fast dumb things happen I tell you! Loren, I will not be riding tomorrow, thanks anyway. Dennis I will voulenteer for Demo days, so if you could post Fatboys e-mail I can register with him. Paul,in 1984,I was riding my 750 Kawasaki down Blue Ridge and was getting ready to get onto 71 north by Truman Corners shopping center.I was just putting along turning right from Blue Ridge onto to entrance ramp of 71,the next thing I know,I'm sliding down the street on my right side of my full face helmet hearing it grinding into the asphault.I get up,trying to figure out what happened and why it happened,looked at my bike,both right turn signals broke off,broke front brake lever,BUT--not a scratch on my full fareing.A guy following me in a truck stopped to see if I was ok,I was,then he told me what he saw.As I was turning onto 71 highway,there happened to be oil or antifreeze,a patch about the size of a 5 gallon lid,which I ran thru,the front tire and my bike went one way,and I went another way.SO,the moral to the story---you just never know when ••••• happens.The most important thing is that you were'nt broke up. | ||

Lets see, not broke up, no, not broke up but damn am I SORE. My neck, right shoulder, left shoulder, lower back, Right knee (again) that thing is never going to heel, right arm is sore like I lifted too much wieght last night, right and left arm I cant lift above my head to easily with out winning like a baby. Oh and my pride! Hey, also thanks guys for following me partially home to make sure I was going to make it!! I now need a brake lever, front right blinker (on order), and thank god for the frame sliders I put on last month, it saved the handle bar from puncturing my frame, or denting it real bad at least. Oh yea, also need a new 250.00 helmet (Damn). Don't know how the faring got missed or the rear body work, but it did!!. | ||

DOn't forget about the ride tomorrow morning. 8:30 at Gail's. I just got in from S. Missouri. 350 miles friday,450 mile today, and 275 tomorrow. This is a great weekend! | ||

Buell demo ride info - April 23rd Roger from the dealership called me Saturday afternoon. He has 12 special shirts for the volunteers who assist in the demo rides. So far we have about 6 how have committed to help. I hope to have at least 12 total. Also, the dealership has also received the sling bags for the demo rides. I have not seen them so I don't know if they are like the ones last year, or if they are of a different design. Roger said they only received 48 sling bags. He has a plan to assist in assuring club members who do a demo ride will get a sling bag, though they are for anyone who demos. Supplies are limited, so if you want one, don't miss the demo ride even if you won't be able to help with the demo day. In addition to the Buell demo that Saturday, they will also have a Harley demo ride going. So if you want to demo a Vrod or any other HD... the opportunity will be available that day. HOG will assist with the Harley demo, so if you volunteer, it will be Buell only. You won't get stuck with the HOG bunch. As I get more info... I will post. | ||

I'll second that. Enjoyed riding with you, Loren. You fit right in with our little group of road dogs. All told, we did about 300 miles on some of the better curves to be found within striking distance of KC. Road conditions varied from perfect to downright awful. The Buells were outnumbered. Two Buells vs one Ducati ST2, an FJR 1300, and a BMW K1220LT. We can't let that happen again. A good day. For those thinking about the annual mileage contest, I logged 1100 over the last three days. The odometer is sitting 29,000. Next high mileage day is set for April, so plan on coming now. I have another great route already mapped out. | ||

Sam I called ya back. Looks as though my swing arm did get a little scuff around the axle nut, swing arm paint got about five scratches about 1/2" long. Nothing major though. "WHEW" | ||

No the cop shouldnt be fired,he should be charged with manslaughter,or some other Felony and convicted,that will loose him his rights to ever carry a firearm again,thus ending his career in law enforcement. | ||

Well the article said "Trooper Peasley has 18 years with the state police and the department says he has been a stellar trooper with a long and unblemished career" The article also said "...the behavior did not impact response time." So maybe when they called the second time and he said at the end, "Help will get there," he had already dispatched the first responders after he hung up the first time. Like maybe even though he was beyond a total prick on the phone he still dispatched the first responders after the first phone call. So if indeed he was "a steeler trooper" for 18 years and his actions were found not to have delayed the response time as they say, should he br brought up on felony charges for being rude? Certainly not defending him or his actions, but IF everything the police department said was true...then what? Does that matter much? (Message edited by enp83 on March 22, 2005) | ||

Well the police union think that the 15 days suspended without pay was unjust maybe the police union think he should have been told "you were a bad bad boy and try not to let that happen again , pretty please with sugar on it." then given a bonus ,a raise, and an advancement in grade, that's what OUR federal goverment usually does to idiot and slackers on the goverment payroll....  | ||

If he were indeed a stellar trooper,he would not have responded the way he did.Do you REALLY think if his response delayed help getting there,that it would be admitted?Yes he should be brought up on some kind of charge for being RUDE,in THAT situation,it was a life or death call----not a food order over the phone.The cop screwed up,PERIOD,no excuses.His actions were called,unprofessional and inappropraite.The very least he should loose his job,theres a world of people out here that have lost more for a lot less than that.The cop said he's remorseful for his comments-----what do you expect him to say?Let one of the 911 operators act like he did and see what happens to them!Cops protect cops---PERIOD.EVERY agency that enforces ANY kind of laws,all have the GOOD OLE BOYS CLUB. | ||

That and as a cop you do have to be held to a higher standard than the general public. What happens now if he's out on patrol and writes a sportbiker a ticket, everyone knows now that the trooper has a deep hatred for sportbikers. It's just that, being rude isn't against the law. Kinda tricky that way, what are you going to charge him with? | ||

alot of what you guys are saying is morally right but as a former patrol officer i feel like i should be loyal to the law enforcement community but what he did was totally uncalled for what he should have done was treat it with the same additude of severity as he would any other type of accident,,i know the oath i took was to protect human life..at all cost,, regardless i dont think he should lose his job over a small incodent,, dont get me wrong im not talking about the accident im just talking about the way he handled the phone call. but yes i agree with you all in saying that it was totally handled the WRONG way in that situation,, and he should be subject to some type of penalty.. | ||

Hey guys, I agree this gentleman acted in an entirely inappropriate manner. I agree he should be reprimanded. The real questions that we should be asking are: 1. Why did this gentleman act in this manner. 2. What could we as a society have done to prevent this situation from happening. 3. What can we as a society do to make sure this situation does not happen in the future. A question that I personally want to know the answer to is: Why was a state trooper answering a 911 phone call in the first place? His job is not to answer such phone calls, that is the job of a 911 dispatcher. His job is to physically respond to such calls, assist in any manner possible, and perform a crash scene investigation. At least that is the way it works where I live. There are a couple other things that a few of us should keep in mind. There are alot of Stunters out on the streets and this small fraction of motorcyclist gives our community, as a whole, a bad reputation with the law enforcement community. I have been guilty of some of this myself on occasion. I am not saying we should condone what this gentleman did, but we need to look at what caused the problem so that we can work with them to fix the problem. Keith | ||

Maybe the cause of the problem was 18 years serving.Lets not go the route of most today by saying that it wasnt his fault,and blameing HIS actions on someone else.He needs to be held accountable for what actions he took,forget the physcoanalization of what caused this stellar trooper to act this way.As I said before,let one of the 911 operators do what he did and see what happens to them.The guy should be terminated...period.Lets ask the parents of the kid dying what THEY think should be done about the way the trooper handled the call.Maybe this trooper could get a job screening ALL 911 calls,and then dispatch help to the ones he feels are deserving...then we can blame THEM for his actions,as maybe they were young or old bike riders,or fast car drivers,or drinkers,or any number of nondeserving accident victoms. | ||

Did you guys see that news the other night about the dude that crashed his bike in southern Missouri? If you looked real close you will see his rear tire is toast! I mean you can see the damn belts showing in the center of the tire. It's too bad the guy died trying to have a little fun, but dude, get a freakin tire before you take on the twisties. Any way, the guy riding with him stated that he slid out of control for no appearent reason as did the police ???? What the f#$@?? can no one see the freakin tire was toast?? His buddy stated how it was HARD for riders to cope with all the conditions around us while riding, I think he was speaking of safety? What the hell happend to walking around the bike thinking hmm, I might need a back tire??? My moral, these kinda people, even the one who died, give two wheelers a bad rep, as do the wanna be jappers. So when an officer of any kind treats you with disrespect, just remember what they deal with every freakin day!! PUNKS Not to mention a couple old guys doing wheelies on Buells time to time, no really, I've seen em!! And who the hell is this Tripper guy? Oh yea, one of the old guys!!hehehe!
