Greetings; I'm going to pull the trigger on a touring bike to park next to the Buell. I like the Road Glide, but was told the rider feels more wind than they would on an Electra Glide. I can't test ride yet due to this wonderful Wisconsin winter. I would greatly appreciate opinions from those of you who have ridden both bikes. I know that there is more stability due to the frame mounted fairing. Thanks, George |

My friend just got back from a 3 day test ride with the factory - all touring bikes. He said that the 09 bikes are "night & day" better than the earlier models! Rock solid and much more stable at high speeds - the 'wobble' that has been a complaint of earlier models is gone completely. I asked him about the buffeting and wind control of those 2 models and he said there is a bit more wind hitting you on the Road Glide - but the one he was riding was the CVO model with the low screen. The bike he liked best, of the 4 that he rode, was the Street Glide. He said it just fit him the best. This ride was for a "re-introduction" of the tour bikes, and was attended by the less than mainstream magazine and other publication people. Look for new articles in a few weeks. My own experience on earlier chassis bikes at a test ride, on a windy day, showed the Road Glide to be more stable and less effected by gusts, though I noticed that the fairing gave less wind protection as compared to the Ultra I rode the same day. |

get the one that appeals to you in looks. The wind on the road glide is easily fixed with a new wind shield. Also the shark nose gets slightly better milage. I got the road glide because it is the only one that came in orange. |

My limited experience echoes what others have said for the most part. I have heard complaints about buffeting from high winds or blast from meeting trucks on the EG. I have never noticed either issue. Maybe I am just not as sensitive to it as some. I do believe the EG protects from wind better. It also protects from rain better. The RG windshield is further away, which I think is the cause of the difference. Really, we can give you advice all day, but I think you'd better ride them yourself to see what you think. |

Thanks for your input, much appreciated. I will take both of them for a ride the first chance I get. Take care, George |

Plus, the Road Glide is just a sharp looking bike, whereas the Electra looks a little too "nostalgic", in my opinion. I have always said that if I ever get a long range touring bike, it would be the Road Glide. Just my .02 |

Hey Kilroy, my thoughts exactly. Almost everyone I talk to about bikes thinks the Road Glide is ugly. Thanks for your .02. |

I have an 07 rg and replaced the windscreen with a slightly taller one with lip. I cruse 80 to 90 when traffic allows and find the bike very stable |

Baybueller, thanks for the post. I'm going to ride both bikes, and thinking that I'll end up with the Road Glide. |

I put a +1" Clearview screen on my '08 Roadglide and it made a huge difference in wind effect. It's not only taller but somewhat wider and just manages the air better. Next best mod was Hog Tunes speakers and amp. |

Cool, I like easy fixes. As far as the Hog Tunes, huge difference on my friends Street Glide. Thanks for the info on the wind screen. |

although it's been a while since i rode an old tourglide(future roadglide) and thought it was a bit odd feeling. i always liked the look of the rg's because of the first sceamineagles. i don't know what two up longdistance riding would be like on it but the o4 eg that we have is a great bike and i would like the chance to even own the 09 because of the handling change. the only thing i don't like about the 09 is the stock seat. it feels the same sitting on that as did our 01 that we had and put 6600 miles on it going out to sturgis back in 01. i just know the wife is quite comfortable on the back of egultra. it comes with every thing already on it. the only thing we don't use is the cb but we do use the intercom when traveling. which ever one you get, you won't be disappointed. |

I hear they will discontinue the Road Glide in 2010. May bring it back rebadged with new engine? |

I've heard that its coming back in an "Ultra" configuration, not the sporty bagger look Willie G designed in it. Big share of RG customers add the tourpack to basic package and most popular option is larger windshield. Harley does listen to its customers, seems a little slowly, but they adapt rather quickly. |

IF you look at a RG and a EG, you notice the windshield/fairing on the RG is further to the front, further from the rider. Thus, the air pocket closes on the rider rather than behind at some speeds. This is why the RG is said to have more wind buffeting, IMO. |

The Road Glide is being replaced by the model below.
The New Corner Glide - You've had the Street and the Road, now own the Corners. |

Get someone from Wisconsin, or NYC, to tell the story about the RG -- it's got more Buell in it than most realize. |

I actually like the Road Glide. If I had the money for a second bike, that would probably be the one. (I'll never sell my Corner Glide though!) |

The folks I have talked to prefer the road glide at hwy speed, because the fairing is frame mounted. They claim it to be much more stable. |

The only complaint that I have with my Road Glide vs. Electra Glide is the lack of wind protection for my hands when it's 40* or less. The Electra Glide Fairing is close to the bars and goes to the ends of the bars and actually covers your hands from the rain/wind/snow. |

No cruise on mine, but that is the ONLY negative over FLTR and FLH. That fixed fairing and the burgundy color of mine was all it took to say "I do" to mine. 1998 w/EVO power. I just had two motorcycle Anniversaries this past Friday. Eleven Years Ago on Friday before Father's Day I picked up my Buell S1 from a local Swap Sheet in Syracuse NY.The poor Guy I bought it from lost it in a Divorce and sold it to me a year old. Seven Years later-Friday before Father's Day, I picked up my Road Glide from Ebay out of Philly(Pa). And for my Son's First Birthday(3/18/07)he was given a 2007 Street Bob w/103" kit. Holy Harley Holidays, Batman !!! |

Road glide is supposed to lean a little farther before it drags, at least according to the online specs. What I can't figure out is why they both didn't get the counterbalanced engine when they upgraded in 09.And why does the sporty get oil cooled heads and not the big twins,or the Buell. just sayin. |

I bought a 10 RoadGlide custom last week. My local Harley dealership had a 2010 demo ride. Ultra, StreetGlide, Roadking, & RG. The RG feels lighter when turning(high & low speed), the batwing models feel like you've got a passenger siting on the handlebar. Wind protection can be altered with taller model. |
