Good day to all,

All of the makers of syn. oil claim to have the best product. What is your opinion?

I knew that a troll would add their .02. Yes, I know it has been on the other threads quite often. Simply ignore this thread if it bothers you that much. Take a deep breath. There now, feeling better?

You are way out of line calling Bill a troll.

I agree with Bill. You are free however to discus the issue as you wish.

Actually, why ask this on the HD forum if you ride a Uly? I'd ask or search the XB/Uly forums for better opinions. While HD & Buell are close relatives, they are hardly ridden the same.
I'd never run anything less than 20w-50 (synthetic or dino) in a Harley unless its cold weather. If its consistently hot I'd consider going heavier. Everybody has their favourite brand, mines redline.
My opinion would probably be the same for Buell, but I dont own a Buell........anymore! (disenfranchised Buell owner : ))

"What is your opinion?"

I've used Mobil1 Syn and Amsoil in both my XB9 and my V Rod. In both cases the Ams has seemed to be a better product. My cooling fan in my XB came on alot less frequently with Ams and my gear shifting in my VROD is alot smoother. Vrod tranny's share the same oil as the engine, there's no Primary fluid.

Beware of synthetic oil, it can do terrible things to you and your beloved motorcycle. It will not only leak out of your engine faster than you can put it in, but it will also cause your oil filter to clog and implode, dumping debris and dirt into your lubrication system. It also will make every part of your bike permanently slippery because of its linear molecular chain dispersion action. Then it will leak onto your kickstand causing it to retract automatically, dropping your bike on the ground! But that's not all...

Synthetic oil will round off your gears and spin your bearings. It will also splatter onto your seat causing your girlfriend to fall off in the apex of a turn and she'll never ride with you again. Synthetic oil coats your sight window and your timing window with a whitish pro-emulsification additive that is both non-removable and highly corrosive. Synthetic oil will completely leak onto the ground overnight and your dog will drink it and die.

Synthetic oil will wear out your tires and make your battery leak. It will give you the desperate need to urinate after you put your full leathers on and then jam your zippers shut. It will contaminate your gasoline causing your bike to stall on railroad tracks and accelerate uncontrollably near police cars. It will make it rain during rallies and on weekends. It will lubricate your timing belts causing them to jump teeth and break your valves to bits. Synthetic oil chemically weakens desmodromic valves and causes the clearances to change every six miles. Then it melts the black soles of your riding boots right before you walk across your new carpeting.

While riding past groups of attractive women it will cause both of your handlebar grips to slip off at the same time so you smash your windscreen with the bridge of your nose. It also causes your swingarm to crack, your studs to break, and your rotors to warp, and then it voids your warranty by changing your odometer reading to 55,555. It also dries out your wetclutch and wets your dryclutch. It makes your clutch slave cylinder seal fail in the heaviest traffic on the hottest day of the year while putting an angry wasp in your helmet for good measure.

Synthetic oil hides your 5/8ths socket and puts superglue on your earplugs. Synthetic oil will scratch your faceshield and make your gloves shrink two sizes night before trackday. Synthetic oil stole your neutral and sold it to the Chinese for $1.25. Synthetic oil will make you grow a tail.

But other than that you would recommend synthetic?

Why not, seems you get a lot of special features for not that much money. Seriously I think that any form/brand of syn is probably better that straight dino, so I do use syn. Perception is reality so it works for me. I currently use Valvoline 20/50 syn in all my V-twins. Mainly because I can get it (at a reasonable price) anytime I need it at my local jobber.

YMMV JMHO

There was this time I forgot to replace the dipstick after checking the oil. It sputtered all over the passenger pegs as we rode. When she tried to get off the bike, she ended up on her ass.

I dunno, since switching to synthetic, I bought a house with a shop!

Since the switch, I also think that women are more attracted to me but Sunny won't let them approach.

Greetings Blake, I don't think Bill is a troll (forgot smiley face). I do think that people should ignore a thread if they have no interest, or it's been beaten to death. To my surprise, this one still has people interested. Gearheaderiko, I also own a Harley. There are some great posts on here. Sorry if I offended anyone. Hope to see a big crowd in East Troy on Monday!

Take care

Frito, you're supposed to turn around if your girl friend slips off, otherwise the road would be littered with girlfriends and there would be a massive traffic jam.

Yeah, but if ya circle back to the scene of the accident ya might end up with your picture in the paper. Then the wife would find out about the GF.

I was using Castrol 20W-50 full synthetic in the Big Kids Blast when the oil pump drive gear broke teeth and jammed the pump.
I got this exact phone call "The oil light came on so I rode it to the gas station and put some oil in it, but it was full, can you come and get me?"
Anyhow, I replaced the oil pump and drive gear, cleaned out all the pieces and flushed the oil system and it ran for another 20,000 miles before the bearing on the big end of the connecting rod got too loose.

My recommendation: Use it, it is cheap insurance.

Filippo Berio 100% pure all natural Olive Oil has a great flavor and it's heart healthy, to boot!
It's part of the reason that Terri's homemade pizza is so good. (Of course, my homemade sauce also helps)
