I was browsing for XR1200 accessories on the H-D site when I noticed the XR1200X model designation.

It appears our friends across the pond once again get the cool toys first:

I was curious if anybody else had seen this and/or had any thoughts on it. A blacked-out XR1200 with fully adjustable suspension sounds like a great idea to me. In fact, I may sell my XB12ss and 883R and consolidate if this becomes available here.

On the bright side, it appears the suspension kit will be available in the US:

Performance Suspension Kit

Fully-adjustable light-weight suspension system features Showa's new Big Piston Front fork (BPF) design, which eliminates many of the internal components used in a cartridge-type fork, simplifying construction and resulting in lighter overall fork weight. The large-diameter of the BPF's internal piston allows a reduction in damping pressure, for better feedback and smoother action. The BPF's rebound and compression damping force settings are easily fine tuned via two adjuster screws located on top of the fork bolts. The spring pre-load is adjusted via a M5 hex screw on the axle holders. The rear Showa shocks feature 36mm pistons with a piggy back nitrogen charged reservoirs. The compression damping can be adjusted via a knob on top of the piggy back reservoir. The rebound is adjusted with a thumb wheel on the lower clevis. Rear spring pre-load is also adjustable on the shock for optimum 1G sag. The kit includes one set of Big Piston Front Forks and one set of rear shocks.

I wonder if you might repost that link.

It does not seem to be working.

Thanks.

The Xr1200 is a hoot, so the Xr1200X should address the one big downside that owners complain about ......suspension!

The new forks are very trick, and so far only used on the Kawasaki ZX6 and Suzuki GSXR750, so H-D have a bit of a coup there. The price for the full suspension kit (front and rear) in the US ($1500) seems pretty good value too as a cartridge kit for the stock XR forks will cost around that figure or more. Not sure how good the rear Showas are going to be, but they mustbe better than the stock XR1200 offerings that's for sure.

Try one, you'll be pleasantly surprised : )

I agree. First order of business would definitely be to swap the black bodywork for orange.

Next on the agenda would be a call to Matt for a nice solo tail and belly pan.

Also on the short list is a D&D 2 into 1 exhaust system.
