I never thought I'd start a thread with this title. I don't really even like Harleys, yet there's now an '07 Nightster in my garage. Couldn't resist. First Harley I've ever owned (bike #15), unless you count a Buell as a Harley. Just goes to show, never say never. | ||

Well, Vanvideo, now that you have the Harley, do you "count" Buell differently? Test sat a Nightster at m/c show; liked it, too. | ||

Well, a Nightster sure ain't a Buell. I've dragged the exhausts going around a corner - slowly. It's going to take some getting used to, after years of sportbikes. I took it to Daytona today (90 mile distance) and noticed I don't have the usual sore neck and shoulders after the ride, like I do on sportbikes. | ||

Congratulations! Sportster, the gateway Harley. Ahh, soon you'll be riding a Big Twin, wearing chaps and a bandana, sporting tattoo's and a set of "apehangers", 'dating' women of questionable morals and upbringing. The secret plan HD has hatched to get all sportbike riders on Harley's is working, Start them on a Buell, get them in the door. Mwahahahaha.That is tongue in cheek, playing on the stereotype, not an attack or personal feeling  Seriously, enjoy it. If I had to only own one bike, it'd be a Sportster. | ||

If there's something wrong with riding a Nightster, I don't know what it is. I'll admit to considering a 1200 Custom. Need an XB12XT first but can definitely see a 1200 Custom in my garage someday too. Different tools for different jobs, it's that simple. | ||

The Nightster is just frickin' gorgeous - I wish I weren't so tall, because I just don't fit on them. That said, I, too, NEVER thought I'd get a Harley. I had my Ulysses to replace my first two bikes: a Yamaha V-Star Classic 650 and a Suzuki Katana 600...it combined the touring and sporting qualities of both. But I really wanted a simple cruiser to buzz around town on, and started to fall in love with bobbers. But you can't just "afford" a custom bobber. I was happy to see the 2007 H-D Dyna Street Bob, with flat black paint. So, that was it...I've been slowly converting it to an anonymous, black, single-seater. The Harley style is mostly annoying and over-the-top to me...I prefer not to wear logos on anything outside of my t-shirts. But, they make such visceral and gut-tingling bikes with personality that no other cruiser can match. So, I trade time with my Buell and my Hog, and that's cool. (Full disclosure - I'm planning on peeling the H-D logo off the tank...as much as I love it, I love the concept of an "anonymous" black bike even more.)  | ||

The Dyna StreetBob in black, one the finest looking bone stock Harleys (in my opinion). *Cruiser- a word cooked up to describe the Japanese Harley look a likes. Its either a Harley or a cruiser, never both. You obviously know the difference! |
