there's been interest expressed several times here on the board over the years for a Harley-Davidson-focused forum. there are a lot of common bonds between Buell and H-D motorcycles, and there also seems to be a pretty large number of BadWeB'rs who have a Harley parked in their garage next to their Buell(s). anyway, we talked it over (again) amongst the custodians, agreed that the time was finally right, and here we are. enjoy. Thanks for the new section. As a Buell enthusiast who happens to be between Buells right now it will be great to have a place to discuss H-Ds. I look forward to the same valuable input on my H-D as I have received over the years as a Buell owner. Thanks Blake! BJack |

My thanks to all too! I'm really looking forward to this! I'm working on my Dyna right now, finishing up some of the winter mods. I am going to pick up the rest of the parts tomorrow to finish installing Race-Tech Gold Valve Emulators and a set of new springs in the stock 39mm forks. I wanted a better front end. I'll have a follow up report on how all that turned out before too long. And my tank and fenders are out being painted too. My spring roll out is going to be almost like having a new bike this year. well, I'm paying for (1) deuce, (1) sportster, (1) Buell lightning and (1) yammie R6. Figure I have the world covered in bikes. Now all I have to do is get the kid graduated from college next year, find a job and maybe I can add a new 1125R to the stable. I'll be the guy on the black deuce at homecoming!!!! Say Hi! |

Finally started to do a little work on this thing, got side tracked with some other stuff, might be back to working on it next weekend. Critical Mass indeed. ps, does anybody know of any shortcuts for replacing the swingarm bushings on one of these beasts that doesn't involve partially disassembling the tranny? It's a '91 FLTCU. The swingarm bushings will be maint. project #2 on the thing. Maybe I should give it a nick name, like Big Blue Bagger or something. (Message edited by mikej on March 31, 2008) |

Start lubing your swingarm pivot bolt now. Or save the interim aggravation and just order a replacement pivot bolt before you even start the job. HD, in their infinite wisdom, decided not to give us a place to lube our pivot bolts (mine's a 96 FLHP). When, at 50k miles, I popped the belt...the shaft had to be hammered out with a 7 lb sledge. Needless to say, it was not re-installable. Ended up with not only a new belt, but new swingarm bushings, bearings, shaft (with MUCHO antiseize applied) and nut/bolt. The good news is, it *did* handle better afterwards |

Here's a couple of pictures of my HD's:
The Road Pig is a '96, I've had it since '99. Coming up on 80,000 miles now, it's easily been the most reliable motorcycle I've ever owned (boy I hope I didn't just jinx myself...) and it's the bike I ride the most.
This one is a '73 FLH that I bought on ebay I few years back. It's got a 93" S&S motor. It's a lot of fun, but in hindsight I should have gotten a later model with the rubber mounted engine. This one will shake your feet off the boards above about 65 mph. rt |

I just returned from March Badness V in Suches, Georgia, and I was surprised and delighted to find that the long promised Harley topic was finally posted, and so cleverly named. Thanks very much to Blake, Jerry, and everyone else who enjoys Buell's "red headed stepchild", the Harley Davidson. Here is a photo of my first Harley, my current mount is posted in the Photo section below.
