Hello everyone, and thanks in advance for everyone that can help me out. I have a 04 XB12S that I am looking to change the bars on. I am looking to raise them up about two inches and maybe bring them a little closer to the seat. I am basically trying to sit up a little more than I currently am with the set of bars that come stock. I greatly appreciate any help any one can give me. Thanks Donnie

If they're not already, loosen the bar clamps and rotate them back towards you and see if that helps...

Check out the High Dirt Track Bars from Afam. Those will be my next bars. I currently have a similar set from Emgo which work great but have a little too much pullback.

I understand the bars that come stock on the new CityX are higher(?)than those on the original S models.

Flick, I think they're the same, only with a cross bar.

My S is sitting in an underground garage under a cover chained to a concrete post, so I have not looked, but what about the wiring and cables to the bars? Are they long enough to accommodate taller bars, or do you need to switch them out too? I am thinking that might be a problem.

I have thought about a taller bar too if I equip a Buell for touring, but I have not done any measuring yet.

Good point Cyko.
I went the opposite direction and did have to change the clutch cable.
My guess would be yes, if you went with the Flander's Buell bars. They are nearly twice as tall as the stockers.

Well, whatever you do check the dimensions of the bars you are considering. It is a bit of a pain converting all the numbers from mm to inches and doing a spreadsheet, but well worth it in the end.

Quite simply what is known as a CR-Hi bar is at least 2" lower than an AFAM Hi Dirt Track Bar but the other dimensions are about the same. Incidentally, AFAM has MX bars that are comparable to the CR-Hi as well.

Another little known trick is to check out the ATM bars if you don't find what you want in the MC bar listings. Lot's of adventure touring and off road riders going in this direction. Personally, I found the Yamaha Banshee bars to be a very good fit.

Citycross bars are the same size & bends as the standard S bars, just have the "brace" welded in the middle.

I used the bars off of a Blast. Had to change the brake line. Reroute the clutch cable.
