OK, maybe someone can help. I'm new to buell and rideing. I've riddin dirt bikes all my life (now 27) but this is my first street bike('04 XB9s). I bought it Jan 6, broke it in and got the 1K serv. done. I now have 1728 miles on it. I live in Hawaii so almost every day is good for riding.
Someone told me I was putting too many mile on the bike too fast. Will this hurt the bike or am I ok?

thanks for the help

I'm wondering why someone would say that to you? It would only make sense if you wanted the highest value for resale. If you are hard-core about riding and not wanting to sell your bike in a year, nothing would be better for both the bike and you as to ride it as much as possible. Would anyone do any different with a car? You may wish to ask your friends that. Any engine not getting some exercise is defeating it's intended purpose.

What better climate to ride in than Hawaii? I wish It was me!!!

Thanks for the help. I will ask them what the h*&^ they were talking about. Hawaii is great but I'm getting out of the Army in 2 1/2 months, so I'll have to settle for the weather in Florida, gee darn. LOL.

Look up an AZ rider here named Ski...he's over 40k miles as well as a few others here. His tag line is "Ride it til it seizes!"

I didn't buy my bike with resale in mind. I bought it to ride. Have fun in paradise and don't look back!

Bartimus, in Arizona, is pushing 150,000 miles on his 1995 S2. I think your XB should have a little life left in it. One of the many spendours of these air-cooled, pushrod engines is that they are not difficult to rebuild when neccessary. Four bangers with twenty or twenty-five valves are, IMO, used up at the first valve-grind interval.

Ain't no such a thing as too many miles on your scooter:-)
Sort of like saying, " I saw too many pretty ladies".
Never happen.
Keep on riding.

Too many miles on the bike too fast...boy that is a new one. I would say this is not really possible...I bought my bike to ride it. If you were planning to sell in a few years then maybe at that rate the number of miles will lower the resale but honestly if you are using the bike that much...it will cost something in and of itself.

Personally I feel if you want to play you got to pay.

Too many miles??
Picked mine up first week of june last year & averaged over 2500 miles a month for the first 3 months.

No such thing as too many miles, & who cares about resale?

Too many miles? Maybe he meant too many of your miles where on straight roads, not enough curves?

Um? First time I've heard about it being back to put on tons of miles.

Heck, I broke 4000 in Jan. Aiming to get 10 before my 1 year of ownership comes around.

I've got 26,000 in 17 months. No regrets. 42 mile commute one way really racks them up.
